17: Goodbye...For Now
If there was one thing Jimin had yet to learn since they had arrived in this realm, it is: Never go anywhere alone. Why he was still ignorant to this - who knows. Clearly, he hadn't learned any lessons.
So when he wandered aimlessly through the corridors of the palace, bored out of his mind, the last thing Jimin expected was to have a hand slap over his mouth and drag him to the depths of the dungeon. He kicked and screamed but it was no use. He was thrown against the wall, scraping his arm with a wince. Slowly, his gaze lifted to see two, furious, glowing red eyes staring down at him. "T-Taemin...?
The demon only scowled down at him. He gripped the smaller man's chin and pulled him closer, whispering: "You thought you could just run from me? You thought you could hide and your precious prince would protect you? Well, where is he now?"
"L-Let me go!" Jimin tried to smack his hand away but Taemin grabbed his wrists and pinned them to the wall.
"Why should I?" He snarled. "Why should I leave you in the arms of someone else when you know you're mine?" Jimin could see it. He could see that glint of sorrow in Taemin's dark eyes. He just wanted his partner back. He just had to find a way to explain that he wasn't here.
Slowly, Jimin relaxed, letting his arms fall. He maintained eye contact with Taemin before sighing. "Your Jimin's not here," He stated plainly and gently. He could see the king's eyes soften in confusion - just what he wanted. "The Jimin you know has been gone since he went missing. I am not your Jimin. I came here with Taehyung, Jin and Yoongi. Or, my world's version of V, Prince Seokjin and Agust D."
"What kind of nonsense are you on about?"
"As if I fucking know," Jimin snapped. "It's been weeks and all I've learned is that I shouldn't spend overnight at a museum! I heard what Kai said, he searched Taehyung's memories and there was nothing there. Why do you think he's not here trying to get his husband back? Because he knows he's not here." He took Taemin's hands, gazing at him intently. "So do it, do the same thing to me. Tell me what you see because I know it won't be you."
There was not a moment of hesitation when Taemin brought his hands to Jimin's forehead. Immediately, Jimin felt lost in the realm of unconsciousness for what felt like years. In real-time, he was only out for a few seconds, and when he came to, he nearly collapsed. Taemin caught him just before he did, holding him against the wall.
"How...?" He muttered in confusion. "How could this happen to you?"
Jimin sighed, lightly stroking his hair. "Believe me, your guess is as good as mine. I promise you though, you'll get your Jimin back, just wait a bit longer."
Taemin stepped back. He leaned in, making Jimin flinch, before placing a soft kiss on his forehead. "You had better be telling the truth." Such a sweet action followed by dark and menacing words. The duality made Jimin shiver.
Just like that, Taemin disappeared in a familiar cloud of smoke. Jimin let out a breath of relief, realising that if he had said the wrong thing, chances are he would've been killed. With that, he raced out of the eerie dungeon, desperate to see Taehyung and check if Jungkook was back.
Sure enough, the prince had just arrived, covered in slatters of blood that he had, for some reason, refused to clean off. He smiled at Jimin, but the older man didn't return it. At least not yet. It took him a moment to adjust to the sight in front of him but eventually, his face fell into a grin. However, he took a step back when Jungkook went to hug him. "Ah-ah-ah, not till all of that is off," He said regarding the red stains.
"Hyung," Jungkook whined. "Just one hug? I just won a battle!"
"No..."
"Kookie!" They heard someone cheer. Taehyung almost dropped his book as he ran full force at Jungkook, nearly knocking him over in a hug. Jungkook chuckled and kissed him on the cheek. Jimin rolled his eyes at them, gagging. "What's this...Oh!" He finally seemed to notice the blood and jumped back.
Jungkook laughed yet again. "At least I got my reward."
"What makes you think that's your reward?" Said Jimin, smirking. He lifted the prince's chin and leaned towards him. "Once you clean yourself up, then you get your real prize."
"Um...Yeah, hello to you too?" The trio turned around, immediately, Jimin and Taehyung ran into Jin's arms, bright smiles on their faces.
"Hyung!" They exclaimed. Jungkook grumbled under their breath, muttering about the warmer welcome he received.
Despite nearly falling to the ground, Jin smiled at the two of them, not hesitating to hug them back. He held them so long, the three could feel Namjoon and Jungkook's jealously radiating onto them. After what could have been years of embrace, they pulled back when someone cleared their throat. "Well then, how nice of you to invite me," Yoongi remarked.
He could tell they were about to tackle him as well and quickly hid behind Hoseok. The guard chuckled and when the others attacked him with a hug, he joined in. "Glad you're back TaeTae..." He smiled earnestly. Taehyung grinned at him.
"I take it this is the end...?" Namjoon questioned, a hint of sadness in his voice. Jin, Yoongi, Jimin and Taehyung looked between one another. They were all here.
"I...I guess it is..." Muttered Jimin.
"Then, may I do something?" Taehyung and Jimin turned towards Jungkook. The prince smiled at them, taking their hands before clearing his throat. "From the day I first laid eyes on you two, I have adored you. Time may not last forever but I know our love always will. That is why I ask you this - Taehyung, Jimin, will you do me the honour of being my partners and rule as my kings?"
"Yes!"
"Of course!"
The three of them kissed one another and held each other tight. Jungkook sniffed, a tear or two running down his cheek. "Don't cry Kookie," Whispered Taehyung, wiping his tears away. "Even if we're not always together physically, you'll always be in our hearts. You know that?" Jungkook nodded at them, hugging them even tighter.
Eventually, they all made their way into the throne room, the exact place they woke up. Jin took Namjoon's hand and gazed up at him. "A kiss for the road?" Namjoon grinned and did as requested. He placed a long, passionate kiss on Jin's lips, the older savouring every moment of it.
"You'll always be my prince, please remember that."
"Are you going to be alright?" Yoongi asked Hoseok. The guard only shrugged at him.
"Who knows? I suppose I will just have to see what the future holds. Thank you again, Yoongi. You have reminded me what it is like to love and to be loved. For that, there will not be a day that goes by where I am not grateful." He placed a kiss on Yoongi's lips. It was soft and quick but it was just what they both wanted.
Finally, they met in the middle. "Thanks, Taehyung," Jin said suddenly. "If it weren't for you...well, I think I'd still have my sanity. But I also wouldn't have felt my heart open again. Sappy, but true."
Taehyung only grinned at him. His eyes travelled to the wand in his hand, it was pristine, not a hint of wear or rust on it. When they got back, it would just be another dusty artefact but they would all remember that it was so much more. Everyone's hands slowly inched towards it. Last to touch it was Jimin, and when he did, the entire world started to shift. They felt their bodies get sucked towards the object and they were like a light.
━◦○◦━◦○◦━◦○◦━◦○◦━◦○◦━◦○◦━
"Hey, you guys alright?" Taehyung groaned, feeling someone shake him until his eyes slowly crept open. He blinked a few times, adjusting to the bright lights coming from just outside the room. He glanced around and saw the others in the same state - muttering to themselves as they made their way to their feet. "Not gonna lie, this is the last place I expected to find you."
The security guard pulled Taehyung to his feet, watching him brush himself off. "Thanks," He mumbled groggily, his eyes trailing to the man's name tag. "M-Mark?" The younger man smiled at him.
"Yup, that's me," He replied cheerfully. "Um, if it's not too much trouble, could I have the keys back? I need to unlock a few things." Taehyung fished through his pockets and handed him the massive ring of keys. Mark grinned brightly, thanked him, then scampered off.
"Are...Are we back?" Jimin asked himself. "Was it all a dream?"
"I highly doubt we all had the same dream..." Yoongi remarked.
Jin rolled his eyes and stretched with a yawn. "Oh yeah, we're definitely back."
Taehyung furrowed his brow. He looked down at the dust-covered wand by his feet and sighed. Picking it, he gazed at it for a few moments before placing in on the far end of a high shelf. It would best if that stayed as far out of reach as possible. Without saying a word, he made his way out of the room, the others following behind. There was silence between them, but it was clear they were all thinking the same thing.
Now what?
They couldn't tell anyone about this without sounding crazy. Would it be better to just move on? Seems like it.
Jin brought out his phone, his eyes going wide. "Guys...It's only been one day..."
"How is that even possible?" Groaned Yoongi. "I swear we were in there for at least two months!"
"Not sure, but either way, I've got to go. I've got a hair appointment." Yoongi rolled his eyes at his friend's priorities but still followed behind, telling the other two he had somewhere to be as well. That left Jimin and Taehyung alone.
Neither was too sure what to say but it didn't make the atmosphere uncomfortable. If anything they preferred the silence. It gave them a moment to let everything sink in. Jimin took Tae's hand suddenly, smiling at him. "Are you ready to go home?"
Taehyung smiled back. "Of course, babe."
3 Weeks Later
Jin groaned to himself, fixing his newly dyed purple hair in his hand mirror. His driver pulled up to a tall building, surrounded by busy clientele and office employees, all of which moved out of his way as he strolled by. He rolled his eyes at this action but kept his annoyances to himself.
As he rode the elevator to the top floor of the building, he bumped into a man storming through the halls, followed by an assistant hastily trying his best to keep up. "Watch it!" The man shouted. The assistant bent down to pick up the papers his employer had dropped, Jin bending down to help him.
"Jeez, I'm sorry," He mumbled. He handed the papers to the boy with a smile, though it faltered when he got a good look at him. Huening Kai? Could that mean...
Jin's eyes trailed up to the impatient man standing above them. Dark hair, fierce eyes, they could only belong to one person. "Jungkook?"
Jungkook raised his brow at him, frowning. "Have we met before?"
"That's the CEO's son," Huening Kai whispered to him. Instantly, Jungkook's demeanour changed. He straightened up and bowed to his hyung, muttering his apologies. Though Jin rolled his eyes, he was still stunned to see the man in the first place. Had he truly been here the entire time?
"It's alright," Jin assured him. "I'll be on my way now. You two should do the same." Both Jungkook and his assistant bowed to him, watching as Jin turned the corner before sighing.
"Are you okay Mr Jeon?" Asked the boy. Jungkook shook his head, his face filled with confusion.
"I'm not sure...It's strange, I feel like I've known him for a while...Anyway, let's go. We have a meeting to get to."
When Jin entered the CEO's office, he was faced with the usual array of money desperate, power-hungry people, his mother included. "Ceo Kim," He said towards her, bowing at the older woman. She pointed to the chair in front of her desk, instructing him to take a seat. Jin ignored the stone-cold glares of the advisors surrounding him. After years he had still not gotten used to them. "Is there a reason you called me here?"
It was always one of two things, and Jin was hoping it would be neither.
"Jinnie, you're twenty-eight," Yep, here it comes. "You need to think about your future."
"Mother," Jin groaned.
"Don't mother me! I have waited for far too long for you to settle down and take your life seriously!" The woman composed herself, clearing her throat and leaning on her hands. "If you don't want to think about your future, then I'll do it for you. From this day forward, you will take back a position at this company and I have arranged a marriage between you and a suitable man from a very wealthy family."
"W-What? You can't just-"
"Did I allow you to object?" Jin shut his mouth immediately. "Good boy. He'll arrive any minute now." Just as she said that the office doors swung open. Jin could've sworn he felt his heart stop. Hazel hair that swept to the side, perfect mono lidded eyes and a bright smile that showed off his dimples.
"Namjoon...?"
"Ah, so you two know each other?" Jin's mother cheered.
"I don't believe I've had the pleasure of meeting your son," Namjoon strutted over, not breaking eye contact with Jin for a second before taking his hand and placing a kiss on it. "If I did, then I would curse myself for forgetting such a remarkable face. Kim Namjoon."
"K-Kim Seokjin."
The Ceo watched their encounter with delight. She clapped her hands together and ushered them out, saying she had already planned an entire day for them. For once, Jin didn't mind his mother's pestering attitude and smiled gratefully.

Yoongi sighed. Finally, his stupid class was over. Despite despising everything about school, its system and every rule in the book, Yoongi thought it would do him some good to go back and finally earn a degree in music production. He had always thought of starting his own studio, might as well make it a reality.
The man's phone buzzed suddenly. Yoongi pulled it out of his backpack and smiled down at the notification.
Sunshine: Are you out of class yet? We should go out!
Kitten: I just got out now. Where to?
Sunshine: I'll surprise you! Wait at the school💕💕💕
Yoongi rolled his eyes, a slight smile on his face. He couldn't help it. Even if he didn't like surprises, he'd go through one if it was from his boyfriend.
Around fifteen or so minutes later, Hoseok pulled up in front of Yoongi's school building. The older smiled at him as he got into the car, placing a kiss on his cheek. "So, are you going to tell me where we're going?" Hoseok pointed towards the back seat, where a picnic blanket and basket rested. "Cute, but what if I couldn't get out of class?"
"Then I would drag you out. Do you know how much time I spent on these heart-shaped sandwiches?" Yoongi chuckled at him as they drove off. They engaged in pleasant conversations throughout the ride. Asking how their day was, what they wanted to eat later, the usual. Until they eventually stopped at a park with a gorgeous lakeside view.
Hoseok hopped out, grabbing their belongings with Yoongi following behind. He tilted his head curiously but was still excited. Hoseok eventually found a spot for them to set up and spread out the blanket before putting the basket down as well. Yoongi sat cross-legged in front of him, watching with wonder as Hoseok pulled out beautiful home-cooked meals for them to eat. "Sunshine, you didn't have to do all of this for me..."
"I know, but I wanted to. I know you've been down Yoongi..." Yoongi's expression softened and he looked over at his boyfriend. "You go from being stoic and standoffish to wanting to hug me every second of the day. I can tell you're trying so hard to distract yourself. I know you're tired babe, just tell me what's on your mind. I promise I'll be here to listen."
The older looked down. Had he been that obvious? Or did Hoseok just know him that well? Either way, Yoongi didn't mind. To be honest he had been wanting to get this off his chest for a while. "I had a dream...You and I were two different people and the world was super warped. Our relationship wasn't healthy, and I hurt you...I hurt you so much but you never left my side...I'm scared of that dream becoming a reality and that you'll leave me because I treated you terribly when all I want to do is protect you..."
Hoseok was silent for a moment. The way Yoongi spoke, you would've thought he was recounting an actual event. Eventually, he pulled him into a hug, stroking his hair as he spoke. "It was just a dream Kitten, it was all just a dream. You could never hurt me and I would never leave you, not in a million years. Okay?"
Yoongi sniffed, pulling himself closer into Hoseok's arms. "Okay..."

When Jin told Jimin he saw Jungkook, he didn't believe it. When he actually saw Jungkook, he refused to believe it. He was just as dashing here as he was in the other realm. It took a moment for him to realise he was staring and how odd it was, especially since they were in the pasta section of the supermarket. Jungkook's eyes travelled over to him, making Jimin flinch and turn around in embarrassment.
He decided to just focus on his shopping. Maybe it was a dream? Or some sort of illusion? Jimin shook himself out of his thoughts, reaching up for a packet of ramen. He groaned when, even on his toes, he couldn't reach it. Jimin flinched yet again when a shadow cast over him as an arm reached for the very thing he was trying to grab. He looked up to see Jungkook scanning over the object. "Thanks for-"
"Who said I was getting this for you?"
"What?" Jungkook looked down at the ramen with a shrug before putting it on the highest shelf and pushing it out of Jimin's reach. "What the hell! Why would you do that!?"
"Too much salt," Then he walked off. Just like that. Jimin's jaw dropped. He was appalled by his rude demeanour, but even more disappointed in the fact that he wouldn't get his ramen. He sighed to himself, running his hand through his hand before deciding to just pay and leave.
When Jimin got to his car, grocery bags in hand, he stopped when he saw the ramen on his bumper with a little note attached to it. Call me if you need to get something off a shelf, dwarf. Then it had his number attached to it. "Brat..."

Taehyung sighed, sliding into his chair and wiping his brow. School groups were always the most tiring to deal with but Tae always loved seeing the looks of wonder on the children's faces. He looked up at the clock with a grin. His shift would be over soon.
With a yawn, Taehyung began to gather his things. However, he stopped when someone tapped his shoulder. "Are you still open for tours?" Someone asked.
"Yes, but my shift is nearly over. If you'd like I can-" Taehyung felt his heart stop when he finally turned around. He was there. Smiling at him. Wearing a suit and loose tie, Jungkook gazed at the older curiously, his hands shoved in his pockets.
"You still there?"
"A-Ah! Right! Sorry..." Taehyung cleared his throat, fixing his hair and cursing himself for staring like that. "If you'd like, I wouldn't mind a quick stroll around. Or I could get another tour guide..." Jungkook looked him up and down before smirking at him, shaking his head.
"I think you'll do nicely."
Taehyung could feel his face begin to flush so he quickly turned away. Jungkook turned him back around, however, continuing to grin at him. "Oh? Did I make you flustered, hyung?"
"No...Not at all. Shall we start the tour?"
"Lead the way."
Jungkook was much more invested in the museum than Taehyung was expecting. He listened attentively as Tae explained everything, even when he went on short rants. It was pleasant. Eventually, the pair stopped towards the medieval section of the building. Several interesting artefacts were laying about but one thing, in particular, caught Jungkook's attention. Taehyung's eyes followed, his breath hitched at the painting they both stared at.
"I won't lie, I came here because I was told I looked a lot like one of the paintings here..."
"And?"
"I don't see it," Muttered Jungkook, rolling his eyes. "He looks so high and mighty. Plus, I'm way better looking." Taehyung snickered at him. Rather ironic.
"I'm sure you'd like him a lot more if you got to know him," Taehyung told him, making Jungkook scoff.
"I doubt it. Besides, I'd like to get to know you a lot more." The smile on Taehyung's face faltered as he glanced down.
"I have a boyfriend..." Jungkook raised his brow, shrugging at this.
"Bring him along with. I said get to know, not date," He brought his finger under Taehyung's chin, bringing his face closer, grinning slyly. "After all, there's a chance I might like him as well."

Thank you for reading The Prince! I know the ending was rushed and I'm so sorry. This may have been one of my favourite stories, but it was a little draining to write. Thank you to everyone who voted and stayed till the end, I love and appreciate each and every one of you! If it weren't for you guys, I would've just convinced myself that no one was reading and give up entirely. I'm glad that wasn't the case.
I'm thinking of doing a proper epilogue but I'm not too sure yet. Either way, I've definitely had a great time writing this story.
Thank you!
