16: You & I
Hoseok had been decently healed for a while now, able to walk and everything, yet he was reluctant to leave his bed. Every time he tried, the thought of Yoongi waiting for him kept him in place. He wanted to see him. He wanted to be in his arms yet something was keeping him down. Him. Every time Hoseok thought of Yoongi, he could only see the man who left him. He caused him so much grief and so much pain that he could hardly stand the mere thought of him anymore.
Even still...Yoongi wasn't Agust D. He had said so over and over again in the midst of any of Hoseok's spirals caused by that name. Yoongi wasn't Agust D - He was Yoongi. Someone who cared about him. Someone who loved him no matter how aloof he tried to act. "Sunshine...I'm not him. I'm not Agust D." He said. Why did Hoseok have such a hard time believing it?
"Why does he have to be so nice?" Hoseok groaned to himself, holding his face in frustration. The clock was ticking and they'd be returning soon. He was just wasting time going back and forth. After much consideration, the guard sucked in a harsh breath and made his way over to the door. His hands trembled while they inched towards the knob, but Hoseok knew he could do this. Finally, he swung it open and turned the corner. Yet he flinched when he saw someone sitting next to the door.
"Y-Yoongi?" The blonde had his knee propped up supporting both his head and arm. His soft snores filled Hoseok's ears and he let out a sigh. After a glance around the empty hall, he carefully brought Yoongi into his arms. Slowly, he made his way back into the medical room and placed the older man on the recovery bed then gently tucked him in. He looked so peaceful and at ease when he was asleep. Yet Hoseok could tell by the bags under his eyes that that was anything but the case. "How long were you waiting for me Yoongi?" He questioned softly.
Hoseok's hand carefully inched towards Yoongi's. Slowly, he traced his fingers, wondering if it was even right to feel like this towards him. With a moment of hesitation, he finally locked their hands, intertwining their fingers in the process. Just like that, it was like a world of emotions washed over Hoseok. Happiness, sadness, grief but most importantly - love. "I love you..." He whispered.
Yoongi stirred ever so slightly yet it didn't seem like he was going to wake any time soon. Hoseok smiled regardless, planting a soft kiss on his forehead. "I know that I've been blinded by my feelings for Agust D and I can't hold onto them forever but...I'm glad you're here instead. I know you care for me Yoongi and...and I know you're not him. Rest. You deserve it."
It was a few hours later when Yoongi's eyes finally fluttered open. To his surprise, he wasn't where he fell asleep. He thought he may have been taken to his room but that didn't seem to be the case. His eyes travelled around for a bit, momentarily adjusting to the light outside the window. Once he was sure he was awake, Yoongi sat up with a tired groan. "How long was I asleep for?" He thought to himself. He was silently wondering how he got in here as well, that is until he saw Hoseok fast asleep on one of the chairs in the corner of the room. Yoongi's eyes widened, wanting to jump and check on him yet halted when he remembered their last encounter.
"Oh...You're awake," Yoogi looked back at the guard, who yawned and tiredly rolled his shoulders back. "I hope you weren't waiting for me to wake as well." He said.
"No, I just woke up too..." There was a tense silence between them. The two only stared into each other's eyes, both waiting for the other to make the first move.
Yoongi swung his legs over the side of the bed, breaking their eye contact when he began to stretch. "Well...I should probably-"
"Yoongi wait," Yoogi turned around. Hoseok slowly made his way over before sitting down on the bed as well. "Don't...Don't go." He pleaded softly. The blonde eyed him curiously as Hoseok averted his gaze. His hands jittered by his side like they wanted to go somewhere, yet the guard was holding them down.
"Hoseok...?"
"L-Listen..." The guard cursed himself for stuttering. Why was he so nervous? "These past few days, I have been thinking about...you..." Yoongi's face remained emotionless, but on the inside, his heart was on fire. He didn't want to get his hopes up just yet. Fortunately, he wouldn't have to.
"My relationship with Agust D...was not healthy," Hoseok admitted with a heavy sigh. "At first, it was full of love and care that slowly deteriorated over time. I know that now...because of you. You reminded me what it was like to truly feel cared for, and for that, I am eternally grateful."
What did it mean though? Hoseok finally took Yoongi's hand and stared into his eyes with a wide smile brighter than the sun. It filled Yoongi with more happiness than words could describe. "Thank you for caring about me and thank you for loving me. It may not be wise to say this when you are so close to leaving, but...I love you Yoongi."
Yoongi wanted nothing more than to cup his cheeks and pull him into a long, soft kiss. However, he wanted to be sure Hoseok was ready for that. So when Hoseok was the one to pull him close, Yoongi couldn't help but smile. The redhead carefully took him by the neck and pulled him close, connecting their lips in one seamless motion. Yoongi's hands made their way towards his thighs but stopped himself to ask:
"Are you sure you want to do this?"
Hoseok smiled at him. "More than anything in the world."
"Then I'll be gentle, sunshine."
------------------------------
"My everything hurts~"
"Good. Then maybe next time you will think twice about making my bottom."
"Yah, you brat! Just because you hurt your ego, doesn't mean you have to take it out on us! Our asses hurt way more than I'm sure yours does!" Jungkook laughed off Jimin's pout by snuggling up to him and Taehyung. Jimin looked to Taehyung to say something, but he had already started playing with Jungkook's hair and wasn't nearly as bothered by his pains.
"I hate you both..." Muttered the blunette.
"Aw hyung, where's the cutie who was crying my name just a few minutes ago?" Jimin glared at him and just turned to his side. He didn't even have the energy to fight back. Jimin felt a finger poke his cheek and shifted back around to see Taehyung greet him with his boxy smile, inevitably causing him to grin back. Jimin couldn't help it. His smile was just so infectious, and he couldn't be happier to have it back in his life.
Their moment was cut short when harsh knocks came from the bedroom door. The trio groaned, and Jungkook was the only one who wasn't too tired to stand. He angrily swung the door open to chide whoever was there, but someone beat him to it. "I have been knocking for hours!" Huening Kai shouted just as he brushed past the prince and stormed in. Jungkook was left stunned by the disrespect yet that didn't stop the servant from continuing.
"I am oh so very happy for you all and your heated reunion, but Beomgyu, Prince Seokjin and General Namjoon have yet to arrive back. Attempts to communicate with Gwacheon remain ineffective and worse, I have had to listen and wait for you to finish your intense amount of intercourse to deliver this message!"
"Huening Kai-" the boy interrupted him yet again.
"Do not tell me to calm down!" He shouted. "My hyung was taken and possibly sold off!" Jungkook hit him with a stern glare which finally put an end to his rambles.
"What I was going to say is that you have crossed a very fine line and will be punished accordingly." Jimin rolled his eyes at him as he moved off the bed, though he was still sore.
"Cut it out Jungkook," he scolded. "We have more important things to worry about!" Taehyung nodded in agreement, soon joining Jimin's side with a stretch. The blunette quietly explained the situation to him so that he would be caught up while Jungkook and Huening Kai thought about their next course of action.
"My prince, we need to act soon. They may be in danger."
"Ease yourself, Huening Kai," Jungkook told him. "We'll send troops to storm the castle immediately." The servant nodded at him yet still looked wary about something. Jungkook eyed him sceptically and didn't hesitate to ask what else was wrong.
With a reluctant sigh, Huening Kai continued. "There is word that...Taemin has entered the castle in search of Lord Jimin..."
The winged man went stiff. He knew he wasn't hallucinating. He knew he saw him! Jimin felt Taehyung tighten his grip around his waist, already protective of his friend. "When was the last time you saw him?" He questioned.
"I-I'm not sure," Huening Kai answered honestly. "It is only a rumour but I thought it would be wise to let your majesties know...I do not wish to create a conflict of interest, however, would it be wise to leave Lord Jimin alone during this time?" He said towards Jungkook. There was a brief look of consideration on his face when Hyuka asked: "Shall I leave you to think it over?"
Without a second thought, Jungkook replied: "No need. Alert the troops. We are going to Gwacheon." Huening Kai bowed to him as a confirmation, then did the same towards Taehyung and Jimin, before exiting the room.
Jungkook didn't waste time standing around. The moment the servant boy left, he went to his wardrobe to prepare himself. Understandably, both his lovers were standing with their arms crossed and expressions of disbelief on their faces. "Is that it?" Muttered Taehyung.
"What on Earth do you mean Taehyung?" Replied the prince while straightening himself out.
"What he means is you're just leaving?" Scoffed Jimin. "You can't keep doing this all the time! It's like every time we have a moment you rush off to do prince things!" Jungkook glanced at him, before walking over and lifting the older chin with his finger.
"These prince things I do, involve saving out hyungs," He whispered in Jimin's ear. "You wouldn't be so selfish as to keep me all for yourself, now would you? Angel."
"A-Angel?" Jungkook smirked at the way Jimin stuttered at the nickname, then smacked his ass. After, he turned to Taehyung and delivered a long, passionate kiss to his lips, causing Jimin to pout from being left out.
"When I get back, why don't we make things official?" Neither Jimin nor Taehyung were thinking when they nodded at him, making Jungkook smile. He then placed a soft kiss on Jimin's lips as well. "Please stay safe you two, I will be back as soon as I can."
Once he left, Taehyung's face fell at what they had just agreed to. He felt a sudden lump in his throat as he turned to Jimin. "Did he say...official?"
"I...Shit, he did!" Jimin cursed himself. "He's making it so hard to leave! Does he mean marriage? Oh my god, is he going to propose!?" Taehyung could feel a ramble coming on and quickly pressed his finger to Jimin's lips with a light hush.
"Jimin-ssi, calm down. He knows just as well as we do that we won't be in Busan forever. I'm sure he just means making our relationship official. Isn't that what you want?"
Jimin looked down, biting his lower lip to suppress his smile. He couldn't lie, he enjoyed the idea of being in a relationship with Jungkook and Taehyung, even if it were only for a few days. It was the time afterwards that had him wary. Despite his love for Taehyung, Jimin was afraid they may not last without Jungkook to keep them together. His silence was something that didn't go unnoticed by Taehyung, as the younger placed his hand on Jimin's shoulder.
"Hey," He said softly. "You know I've always loved you, right?"
"Of course Tae, we're soulmates." Taehyung chuckled, shaking his head.
"No, I mean...since college. You've always been in the back of my mind, even when I was dating other people. So I want you to know that I will always love you because I always have. Even when we leave, even if we have to give up Jungkook in the end, I'll still love you."
"When did you become a mind reader?" Said Jimin with a sad chuckle.
"I didn't. I just know how you're feeling because I feel the same way. When I was gone, wherever I was - I'd get glimpses of you and Jungkook. I thought you two would've moved on without me..."
"Taehyung we would never!"
"And I realise that now, but then I really thought you would leave me. I love you Jimin, and Jungkook does too. Each of us share a love that won't burn out now matter where we are in the universe. Whether we make things official or not, I know I'll always care for you and Jungkook." Jimin felt tears fill his eyes, Taehyung wiping them away with a small grin. "Don't cry Jimine,"
"I can't help it. I love you TaeTae, I love you so so much!" They embraced each other, snuggling in each other's arms as they enjoyed the loving silence between them. The light tears flowing from Jimin's eyes soaked Taehyung's shirt yet the younger man didn't mind in the slightest. They were each just happy to have the others company. Neither could wait for Jungkook to return to finally validify their feelings.
------------------------------
How long they had been in the dungeon, none of them knew. Beomgyu was thrown in with Namjoon and Jin less than a few hours after they arrived, scarred and chained to the wall. Neither of the older men could stand the sight of the poor boy in such a condition but seeing as they were also tied down, they couldn't do much in the way of help.
Jin, although bruised, remained hopeful. They wouldn't kill them, would they? No, of course not and the other's were sure to be here at any moment. He just needed to stay optimistic. Even with this mindset, he still found himself feeling discouraged, a feeling Namjoon caught onto. "Hyung...are you alright?"
"Not necessarily," Jin said honestly with a sigh. "I mean, things could definitely be better, they could also be worse. At least I'm not dead, yet."
The guard's eyes fell. "Please don't say that..."
"Say what?"
"Yet. Jin, I promised I would keep you safe for the rest of our lives. Don't say such things to deter me from that..." Jin furrowed his brow. He attempted to move closer to Namjoon but was held back by the metal chains around his arms.
"Sorry, I don't remember you saying anything like that...?"
Namjoon chuckled almost in bitterness. "Of course, because I didn't say it to you...I said it to my love." His voice dropped to nearly a whisper when he uttered those last few words as if he were speaking of someone in his distant memory. "I told him that when I proposed to him. I could see nothing but the stars in his eyes when he accepted and leapt into my arms...however the longer we are apart the more I start to wonder if..."
"If you'll ever see him again?" Namjoon looked back up at Jin, seeing the older's soft smile greet him. "I asked you if you and Prince Seokjin were married, and you told me not yet, I'm surprised it took so long for it to click in my head. You truly love him, and I can only imagine how being away for so long might be doing to you. I hope you haven't thought of me as a replacement this entire time, I'd hate to be the source of more of your heartbreak Namjoon."
"Jin..."
"When I leave, I wish for nothing but happiness for you two. You both deserve it." Namjoon sat up, slowly moving towards Seokjin. Jin, eyes roaming over the guard, moved forward as well. Each flinched back when the metal pulled at their limbs, keeping them just inches apart.
"If I can't even hold you, what good am I as a partner?"
"Joon, never doubt your abilities as a person or as a lover. Anyone would be lucky to have you." Then they smiled at each other. It was strange. Jin had felt an attraction towards Namjoon for a while now, whether he was willing to admit it to himself was a different story. He knew from the start that Namjoon's heart belonged to another and had accepted it, but this moment made him think that maybe he had fallen for the Kim Seokjin in front of him. Whether he did or didn't, Jin knew that he would always have him in his heart.
"Am I interrupting something?"
Both look up, their eyes wide. "Prince Jungkook!?" Jin exclaimed. Sure enough, the prince was standing in front of them with a sword in his hand, blood splattered on his face and clothes, and a victorious smirk on his face. "W-What happened to-"
Jin cut himself off when the prince held up the decapitated head of Gwacheon's second in command. As unsettling as that was, the pure glee on Jungkook's face was even more so. "If you two are done with your little moment, I would very much like to escort you out."
All three of them were released from their shackles, Namjoon scooping the unconscious Beomgyu into his arms as they made their way out. Every member of Ateez laid dead on the ground while Busan's soldiers stood at attention just outside the palace doors. "We've got a lot of work to do..." The captain murmured.
"And I know you can do it," Jin took Namjoon's hand, a smile spread across his face. "I know this kingdom will flourish in your hands Joonie."
