It took me a good while to fully understand what was going on here. NOt only do I have to deal with a series of killers and robbers, but they're meant to be my guardians. Well they're sure are a piece of work together. Jez, the redhead, was yelling at Nick for looking at her in a bad way. Ray was trying to mediate his lunatic brother, while Annallie, the blonde, tried to pull Jez away to a corner. The way Jez looked at Nick was as if a tigress was preparing herself to attack a hot tempered cheetah. It didn't look like either of them were going to back down until they both found some sort of common ground.
"While you knuckleheads try to kill each other, I want to be taken home." I said to them. Almost instantaneously both of them turned around and sneered at a me.
"What is so wrong of of me to want to go home?!" I demanded. Nick closed the distance between us so fast that I didn't even noticed. He made me almost press myself up against the cold stone wall. Intimidated, would be a complete understatement.,His minty breath was so close to my skin, my mind was turning into this huge blob. My ego was internally yelling at me to take some damn control.
"Ari, you can't leave." He paused after each word trying to make me understand every freaking syllable. "There's no scientific explanation for it." His voice! Why am I feeling so weak against his freaking body, his stupid sexy voice!
"You're not suppose to flirt with her, you idiot" Jezbelle popped her gum and I immediately took notice of everyone that was looking right at us. My cheeks instantly warm up and my hands find their way to his chest and shoved him away from me.
"Please... there must be someone that's reasonable and tell me what the hell is going on... what's going to happen to me?" My only solution was to plead for answers. Which I really hated, my pride wouldn't let me plead anyone for things. I was the type of person that would work hard to get what i wanted or what i know now. There was this brief moment of utter silence that made the entire room tense. Taking this time, I began to slowly study them all.
Jezbelle looked like the girl who wouldn't give a damn, even if I were to be a small wounded animal. Her gaze was no longer directed at me; but she was looking at something in her hand. Nick on the other hand was paying very close attention to me. Except his eyes looked unmoved by my desperation. If what these two told me about them being hunters is true, then I wasn't going to get any information from them unless it's a direct order given to them.
My only shot for answers was the blonde girl, Annallie. Her shoulders were slacking and she was doing everything in her power to not make eye contact with me. Unlike the rest of the crew, this girl actually had a guilty conscience. Maybe I should've felt a bit guilty for already targeting someone weak and easy. But as long as I was being left in the dark, I had to find my ways to survive.
After taking a deep breath, I walked towards Anne. My hand reached over to take hold of hers. I completely missed the light glow that was outlining my hand, but Ray didn't. Just as my skin made contact with Anne's, a bitter turmoil swept my entire body into an ethereal darkness. The temperature in my body spiked up, my muscles felt like they were contracting and shifting. The odd part was the lack of pain I was feeling, it was more of the after effects of a dodge ball match.
The feeling didn't last long, my body jerked up and I was finally awake. Well, more like I thought I was awake. I was standing in the middle of a dirt road surrounded by woods all around me. But this scene wasn't like the ones I had from the woman, the trees were from a different species. These looked more like oak trees than pine. I noticed the trees around me were starting to move and that's when I looked down at my feet. I was walking, and the towel I was wearing earlier was gone and replaced with one of those theatre peasant clothes.
Am I dreaming again? The body just took off running though, I could feel how anxious I was. I needed to be somewhere as soon as possible but I couldn't put my finger on it. I ran for a couple of minutes before I came in view with a small dimmed cottage up ahead. My hand went inside a satchel that I was wearing around my waist and pulled out some sort of medallion. I could only catch it's golden color with some purple gem stones before I , well the body placed it back in the satchel and opened the door from the cabin.
A woman's screams echoed throughout the entire cabin with a chorus of small chants in the background. There was absolutely no furniture at the entrance, but there was a room at the end of a visible hall. A dim light was illuminating the hall just a bit. I didn't even have time to follow my rule of never be curious. The body i was in moved towards the room, pushing the door open, revealing a pregnant woman giving birth. She was surrounded what I could only think of being midwives. The air around felt abnormally rushed, I could literally feel cold gusts of wind blowing against me. As soon as the woman screamed and thrashed around, the winds became stronger making my body struggle in remaining still. The woman that was next to the pregnant one was ushering something.
"The baby is coming, stay with us Agatha." The midwife called out to the pregnant woman, who was Agatha. Agatha's screams never died down, she was panting and sweating whispering things that only her would know. But there was this final cry that made my body shiver in horror, she must be dying. Then finally, silence and then the cry of a baby.
"It's a girl." The midwife said in relief. All of the women that were surrounding Agatha took a few breaths of relief, myself included. My body moved over to a station and grabbed a couple of blankets for the baby. I carried them over to the midwife, not yet being able to see the baby.
"Please... let me hold my baby..." Agatha's voice was barely a whisper. But her eyes were glued to her baby girl. She looked fragile though, almost like a porcelain doll. I could feel it, Agatha was going to break, But her arms reached out to her baby, the look of determination very vivid in her emerald colored eyes. Finally, the baby was in her arms and the smile that appeared on Agatha made my heart tremble. I can feel it, a sense of deja vu.
"You're so beautiful..." Agatha spoke softly to her daughter. Her fingers were trying to memorize the soft features of her daughter.
"You will live." Agatha vowed to her baby daughter, and a second later her eyes closed and the strength in her arms slacked. I ran to Agatha's side and caught the baby. The ladies immediately locked hands with each other and began chanting.
"Agatha stay with us." The midwife was by Agatha's side with a bowl in her arms. Chanting and sprinkling something on her.
I wasn't able to see clearly before I turned around to look at the baby girl in my arms, my hand caressed her soft cheeks. The baby girl's eyes opened and these gorgeous emerald green eyes gazed at me, just like her mother's. "She wanted your name to be Annallie." I breathed to her.
Suddenly something pulled at my body and fell back down into the familiar darkness, it took me a couple of seconds to snap out of it and fall down on my knees with Anne and the rest of the crew. I could feel them coming to my aid.
"What did you see?" Anne ushered me, grabbing onto my shoulders looking at me so desperate. I looked at her confused until I slowly collected all of my scattered ideas. I had just seen a private memory of Anne's, it was her.
"Did she die?" I gasped a bit breathless, not really sure if I wanted to believe what I had just done. I regretted what I asked because instantly Anne's face just paled and stepped away from me, almost as if I were a monster.
"Stay away from me." She said in a hurtful despair and rushed out of the room. My only hope just began to hate me.
