I stare in a daze at the scene unfolding before me as a girl walks towards Nate and kisses him full on the lips as people cheer. I take another sip of beer as Dave looks at me intently.

'What? ' I slur. I gotta admit I'm a little drunk.

'I'm just thinking of how cute you look when drunk' he says and I flush a little.

'I'm not that drunk. I'm going to the bathroom. I'll be back in a sec' I say and walk away.

I gotta admit, Nate's house is huge. I finally find the bathroom and go in. I stare at my reflection in the mirror.

'Wow I look wasted' I mutter to myself. I pour some water on my face as my head begins to clear. I look up at the mirror again and see Jake standing behind me. I gasp in shock and turn around.

'Idiot you almost gave me a heart attack' I shout as I shove him.

'What did I tell you about dating Dave? ' he says moving towards me.

'I date whoever I want to. you don't control me' I say.

'Okay lemme put it like this. I give you seven days to break up with Dave.'

'Or what? ' I goad. I won't let him control me.

'Or I'll kill you, Dave and myself' he says, looking into my eyes and I can see thet he means it.

'Laura you're the one that will decide how our story will end. 7 days, ' he says and walks out.

I turn to the mirror visibly shaken. Oh my God what the hell has gotten into Jake? I dry my face and head back to the party as Dave walks towards me.

'Hey I was about to come looking for you.'

'Oh thanks' I say looking at him.

'Oh yeah so I guess I'll see you tomorrow then. '

'Tomorrow? whats tomorrow? ' I ask.

'Our date. Pick you up at 7' he says with a wink and walks off.

WOW.

I search for Ally and find her sitting alone.

'Hey what are you doing all by yourself? wheres Jason? ' I ask looking around.

'Dont know. I'm driving so I guess no drink for me, ' she says trying to sound cheerful.

'Dave asked me on a date' I blurt.

'Laura that guy is bad news and you know it' she says.

'Come on, its just one date. can you come over to help me? ' she hesitates.

'I wouldn't miss it for anything' she says.

'Oh and whats up with you and Jason? ' I say sitting beside her.

'I dont know. I guess its because we haven't been together in a while or whatever'

'Uh-huh' I say with sarcasm.

I check my phone for the time and gasp. Its 1:49

'Oh my God my mom's gonna kill me' I say and quickly leave. we get in the car and Ally drives off.

As soon as I reach the porch, I take off my heels and open the door. luckily no one is awake. I make my way up the stairs. As long as I don't make any noise, everything will be o- BAM. I slip on something and fall with a loud thud. So much for not attracting attention. I get to my room and lock the door then collapse on the bed.

   ALLY POV

4:35PM I check the time again as I knock on the door. the door opens and to my surprise its jason and he's shirtless.

'Hey Als,' he says with a nod.

'Um hey and when did you grow biceps? ' I say staring at them.

'Um.... I don't know' he replies awkwardly and turns around. I mentally slap myself. Way to go Ally. I take a deep breath and walk past him. if he wants to ignore me? fine. Two can play that game.

I go to Laura's room and find her staring at her reflection in the mirror with a heap of clothes on her bed.

'Ally thank goodness youre here. lets get to work' she says plopping on the bed.

After examining every choice, we finally decide on black jeans, black boots and a chiffon top.

Laura goes to take a shower and I wander round her room. what is the matter with Jason? why is he acting like this? well im gonna find out.

I go into Jason's room and find him sitting on the bed.

'Jason what is your problem? why are you avoiding me? ' I say shutting the door behind me.

'Ally I can't deal with this right now. Just leave' he says as he walks towards me and guides me by my elbow out of his room.

'No I want to know now so I dont just hang on to a dream. what about us? where are we headed? ' I say as I rip my elbow out of his grip.

'You want the truth? I'll tell you the truth. I have a girlfriend okay. I don't like you like that. I've never liked you like that okay?' he grabs my shoulders and says

'Get over me'

I just stare at him in shock willing myself not to cry. 'Thank you for being so honest; I wont bother you again,' I say and walk out of his room.

I go to Lauras room.

'Laura I'm needed at home. Gotta go, ' I say as I grab my bag.

'Ok bye and thanks' she says as I leave. In truth, I can't stand the pain. I get in the car and drive to the only place that can give me peace; the beach. I sit on the floor and just stare. All of a sudden, I feel a presence behind me.

I turn around and see Nate glancing at me with a worried expression.

'Ally right? whats wrong? ' he asks as he sits next to me.

'Nothing that concerns you but thanks for asking, ' I reply.

'No problem' he says, glancing at me and making no move to leave.

  I ignore him and we stare at the water in silence.

   LAURA POV

I finally finish getting ready and look at the clock. 7:15 PM. Perfect. I hear a knock on the door. I rush to answer it,  but my dad beats me to it.

'So you're the dave, ' he says sounding unimpressed.

'Yes sir' he replies awkwardly.

'Alright lets go to the living room and have a little talk, ' he says heading to the living room.

'Um dad, we're kinda late, ' I say taking Dave's arm.

  'Alright but one wrong move and youre a goner' he says referring to Dave.

'I get it sir' he replies.

'Good,'

'Bye dad, ' I say to reduce the tension.

'Well your dad seems nice,' Dave says. We head out of the house and I take in Dave's appearance. He looks hotter than usual in a wife beater, a button up shirt and blue jeans with sneakers. we go to his car and he pulls out a bunch of tickets.

'I dont know your preference so I got us tickets for; tonights game, the cinema, the opera and a concert.'

'Do you always throw your money away like this? ' I ask.

'Only when its worth it, ' he says with a smile.

I pick out the ticket for the concert and he lets out a huge sigh of relief.

'Thank goodness. I thought you'll pick the opera.'

I laugh and we get moving.

'Its an All time low concert by the way' he says.

'No fucking way. they're my best band' I cheer.

'I know' he says.

4 awesome hours later and we leave the concert.

'This is the best night ever. thank you' I say hugging him. he gives me a 'seriously' look and uses his finger to touch his cheek indicating I should kiss him. As I turn to do that, he turns and we kiss on the lips.

'The night is not over yet' he says.

We go to a cafe for some food.

'Tell me about yourself' he says as we eat.

'Well as you know, I have a brother and a best friend who... nah its complicated and a dad and mom who are cool and I guess thats it. you? '

Well im an only child... thats it' he replies.

We talk for a while and as soon as we finish, we head home.

'Today was awesome, thanks'

'You're welcome' he says.

He leans forward to kiss me when all of a sudden, the porch light comes on.

'Very subtle dad, ' I shout. 'Goodnight' I say as I walk in. I gotta admit it was an awesome first date.
