Life was strange.
One minute he thought he had everything under control and the next moment everything went out of his control.
His life was confusing if nothing else. In his younger years, he was kept a secret from the world. He lived a very long time in a very young age with his grandparents who loved control.
He never spoke about it to anyone. Yet, it was a constant part of his life. Now, he was struggling with his life to not show the darkness inside him. To not demand control over everyone. The good part was that it was handled perfectly by his uncle/s so he didn't have to worry about his family's safety, or the need to minimize their life activities to be on top of their lives.
His control issue was bad. He wasn't exaggerating. If he was in the operation room and there is a single element that is different than what he asked for, he will not work. He has a full PowerPoint sheet at this point that he goes over with the team before every operation so they don't mess anything up.
Ironically, he wants to control everything and then he chooses a field that is hyper-unpredictable. Maybe it was to rebel against his grandparents and his nature. Maybe it was to hurt himself every single time when a patient comes in. Because when he is not in control, he feels a needle pricking his skin. He felt the air getting uneven. His chest hurts. And, he feels his world change.
How he manages to not get caught about his mental state is a secret to him too.
He could feel his cousin's (not by blood) eyes on him. He knows how much Ayaan hates that his wife was hurt. He hates family drama or any drama. With his need for control comes the need to avoid conflicts. Yet, he cannot understand why his cousin is ready to pounce on him when he saved his wife.
He did something for him. His glare only get harsher by the minute they spent together in the same room that his wife was in. He had to explain the procedure and everything as a doctor before his wife could get discharged. His father did teach him how even under unwanted and difficult circumstances never show emotion on his face. That is what he was doing.
Once he was done explaining Ayaan went to his wife and started talking while he exits the room to explain to everyone else about the situation.
He was exhausted.
This hospital was recently constructed and very few people can stay here for long. They are many reasons why that is. One is loyalty, most people who come in tried to find a scoop to sell. Two, because of disloyal people, the loyal suffer extra burdens. Hence, working three or four days straight for a week.
He had been on a four-day shift today. He has no idea how he was still operating when his body was begging to lie down. His eyes are red. He knows he looks worst when his mother concerned eyes fell on him. He doesn't like worrying anyone about his problem. His sister was enough of a troublemaker, he wouldn't add more for his parents.
Plus being a good kid means he is in control of his life.
The other thing was that his sister was preparing to take over their family business. His parents never cared who takes over from the two of them. He guesses it was easy for his sister to take over since she didn't witness the fights and pain over these buildings.
Because she wasn't born, she didn't see how much their parents went through. How much he had to go through. He was glad for that. He wouldn't wish upon on his sister for something like that. It was good that it happened to him.
He sighs.
He went into his office for some peace when he heard a knock. He groans as he sits straighter and found his uncle Kabir.
"Yes?"
"Just wanted to give you a heads-up that a new member will join you".
He frowns, "Who? Did you check his background?"
"Her". Kabir's eyes narrow and daring Ehan to question him again, "Yes, I did".
"What's her background?"
"It's simple, really. She is the daughter of the man we killed".
He stilled.
"Excuse me?"
Kabir tilts his head, "We kill people all the time, son. Why are you making that face?"
"Who was her father?"
"The one your mother was going to get sold to".
His eyes flare, "You think it is the best idea when we already suffered enough because of those damn spies, to bring in a man's daughter who was going to buy my mother and we killed him".
"Yes".
"That's your answer? I am not going to work with her. I don't want her anywhere near me".
"That sounds like a you problem".
That was all his uncle said before slamming the door in his face. The anger boils inside of him. He throws the papers that were on his table to the floor. He knows he can't show anyone else the hatred that had started to build a home in his heart.
He hates when someone hurts his family. He hates it more when they keep coming back. This was exactly why he invest so much in B5 so they don't have to suffer any consequences. Yet, his uncle was bringing someone in, a woman, to work with him.
A trauma surgeon. Just like him.
He growled when he heard someone else knock on his door and he found another emergency patient coming in. What he hates besides the current situation of this hospital is the fact that it caters to the elite. Which means mostly bad people.
The good part was that they can dig into the dirty secret and help people out of some situations.
He worked another five hours overtime until he heard the news on one of the televisions and his phone rang with it.
There was an earthquake.
His heart starts to pound rapidly against his chest. The sweat immediately gathered on his forehead as he felt things getting out of control again. He heard his phone ringing and vibrating violently yet the deafness that fell on him was hard to get under control.
There will be too many casualties. His family might be hurt.
That means that casualties were coming in today. Too many.
He inhales a sharp breath trying to get his reaction under control. He immediately answers his father's call who informed him that no one was hurt by their families. The tightness in his chest eases a little. The fear remains to hold tightly onto him.
Sometimes when there are natural disasters, they get casualties. Mostly because most hospitals don't want to 'waste' their materials on free services.
He heard the siren blaring and gets into his position to get the first patient. Every doctor was here within five minutes and a total of 15 who will take charge of this situation. But 15 was too little. The mess was bigger.
His heart started to pound with the worst possibilities.
He heard the door banging and his eyes went to his first patient yet it wasn't a patient he was looking at.
It was a woman. A very young woman was walking in looking around everyone.
"Hi, I am Ziva Adam and I am the new doctor who is joining today".
His eyes widened.
He was in so much trouble.
