~Dear Diary, ~
~You know, it's pretty weird that I just got a lot of attention out of nowhere today, even people I didn't know were looking at me. So, that's what it's like to not be invisible. ~
~Mckayla and Andrew are being annoying, but when are they not, huh? I don't know why they seem so eager to be huge pests, but I'm sure there's isn't anything I could about it. ~
~It's still weird how Andrew's making fun of me for my hair for no reason. God, I can't believe I wasted two good months on that guy! He's such a jerk! If and when I get a new boyfriend, I'll make sure he's nothing like Andrew in any shape or form! ~
~On the flipside, me, Connie, Casiah and Fontana went to the mall and got hair products! I'm pretty sure Casiah might have overdone it, just a tad, but if she's happy, I'm happy. ~

As I got out of the door, Connie, Fontana and Casiah were there to greet me with smiles and joy, well I thought they were until I saw all of their jaws drop.
"Oh. My. God." Casiah said, "You look so fucking fablous!" She squealed, "Your hair looks so fluffy."
"Damn, you look great." Fontana grinned. "The ponytail's so cute."
Connie clapped happily. "You look amazing!"
I smiled as I walked down my steps, I couldn't help but feel thankful to them, if they didn't say all that nice stuff about my hair, I probably wouldn't have done my hair like this.
"Well, thank you guys, it's totally sweet of you to say that I actually feel good about myself right now." I smiled. "So again, thank you."
"Aww, you're welcome, I'm just happy you feel glamorous, because you do." Casiah grinned, she dug in her purse and pulled out a black credit card.
"And since we're talking about hair, we should head to the mall and go hard on the hair products! Some of the stuff they have smells like coconuts." Caisha exclaimed.
Fontana rolled her eyes and whispered to me, "And cue all of us walking out of one store with 400 bottles that do the exact same thing, but at least they smell like cherries."
"Heard that, Fontana!" Casiah called back, we all laughed and chatted on, as we walked, I noticed a lot of guys passing by and saying hi, to me.
It was like a spell was cast on everyone, well, everyone expect Andrew. When Andrew saw me, he blinked a few times before looking forward, I could hear his scoff from a mile away, as usual, he had his "cool guy" stroll with his buddies, but I didn't really care.
It was so strange, and the biggest thing was the way they all looked at me. Usually, guys either looked past me, rolled their eyes when I would walk by or just give me a rude, judgmental stare, but this time? This time, they all either, smiled and waved, gave me the nod or just look me up and down and smirked.
The last one was a bit creepy, but it was still a stark contrast to how I'm usually looked and treated like.
"Rosetta? Are you okay, gurl?"
I snapped out of my daydream to see Casiah, Fontana and Connie looking at me worried. Casiah raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms.
"Uh, are you alright? You look spaced out."
"Ah, sorry. It's just that, a lot of guys have been looking at me. I mean, not to sound conceited or anything, but they all either wave at me, or just smile, It's just weird."
Fontana tipped her head, her eyebrows furrowed as she scans the boys that walked by, she snapped her fingers and smiled. "Oh, okay. I think I got it. It's because they're finally seeing how hot you are."
"Excuse me?"
"Babe, look, you were always fierce, but you didn't know how to embrace it. And now that you are, everyone's waking up to it." Fontana smirked and patted me on the shoulder. "You're hot now, I start embracing it if I was you."
I nod my head and Fontana flashed a grin at me, we all started walking again to the mall. The thought of me being "hot" was something I could only dream about.
I thought because of the fact that I wasn't a loose curl, light skinned, emerald-green eyed girl, being hot was something I could only dream about, but since I was a tight-coiled, dark-skinned, onyx-brown eyed girl, and I still got some attention, it seems like hating myself wasn't the quick way to be cool.
It's still strange. My whole life, I was in the shadow of Mckayla and Andrew, people would notice me when one of the two were on the scene, but people were just seeing me now. That's a big adjustment.
When we finally got inside of the hair care store, Casiah squealed so hard that I thought I saw a crack in the windows. Casiah grabbed her card again and smiled.
"Cool. Okay, so I'm gonna go get some new hair gel for moi, so I'll just start there."
"Oh good! But we should probably stick to-"
"Later." Casiah made a peace sigh and left before anyone could at least tell her to stop, which left me, Fontana and Connie standing in front of the doors.
"And she says I'm rambunctious." Fontana rolled her eyes. "So, I'm gonna go and try to find her. Can't risk her camping out here again."
Fontana shivered at the memory and walked off, Connie looked at me. "Guess it's just us now."
"Yeah, at least we made a good team." I pointed out, Connie smiled and nodded.
"Okay, let's go to the hair moistures. Casiah told me about this great one that smells like coconut."
"Okay, sounds good."
Connie walked in front of me, and I followed behind, the place was nice, a few people here and there, just like other stores, then I made the fatal mistake when I glanced behind me.
Andrew. He was there, with his best friends, chatting like normal. I flinched and walked closer to Connie. "So, is the hair cream far? Maybe it's in the back?"
"Oh, it's not, it's right there." Connie pointed at the shelf right in front of us. "Cool..." I sighed, I look over, Andrew was only a few more feet away, I moved at the far end of the aisle and watched Andrew and his friends pass by. That was a close one.
"Oh, great! I'd been looking for this for a while!" Connie grabbed a hair bottle off the shelf and placed it in her shopping bag, I glanced up at the shelf, there was a dozen of "Silk of Life" hair bottles with the same lady in front, long curly hair and a big, bright smile, Connie even took a whole pack of bottles and placed it in her shopping cart.
Me, on the other hand, held one bottle that was made for coarse and coily hair, I looked around for a brief second, but I couldn't find anything else, so the natural step was look somewhere else in the aisle.
"Hey Connie? I'm gonna go really quick, try to see if there's anything that could work for my hair."
Connie nodded her head, and I walked off, while making sure that Andrew wasn't in sight. For now, it seemed like the coast was clear. I sighed a breath of relief and moved on with my quest/
I checked ever aisle, even the one where Fontana was holding Casiah back from grabbing some more hair moisturizer, her bag was so full that it could burst.
I walked by and then, I found it a huge-12 pack of hair oil for coarse, coily hair, totally perfect for me. As I grabbed the pack off the shelf, I heard a voice, a voice I was dreading to hear, a voice I wished I'd never heard ever.
"Look guys, Rosetta is embracing herself, her hair is a puffball, it's as big as her big ass forehead."
I glanced to my right and sighed. Yep, Andrew Thompson, the dreaded ex-boyfriend, and along came with his so-called "friends" They laughed at me like I was a joke, as Andrew smirked at me like he won whatever battle we went through.
Again, I ask myself; Why did I date this guy again?
"At least my forehead is bigger than your brain." I blurted out, Andrew and his goons stop and stared at me, Andrew snickered at me and sighed while shaking his head. "Aw, Rosetta, Rosetta, Rosetta. I'm plenty smart, I just choose to not use it on people who are... behind socially."
He smirked, his goons laugh again, and I was this close to snapping Andrew like a twig, he may have been taller than me, but my rage was building up.
Until. "Hey dickhead, why don't you back off?"
I turned my head to see an annoyed Casiah, a worried Connie and a completely pissed off Fontana cracking her knuckles, with a stare that could kill millions.
Andrew scoffed and raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me? Uh, I'm sorry, this ain't any of your business. So, I'll shoo if I was you."
"Boy, about you shoo? You're making our friend here feel weird, so about you back off?" Casiah tipped her sunglasses and glared at him; Andrew still didn't get the hint as he walked up to Casiah with an unearned swagger.
"Oh yeah, what you gonna do if I don't?" Andrew smirked, "Come on, dawg, tell me."
But before Casiah could say anything, Fontana stood in front of her and glared at him. "Here's my idea, I'll whoop your ass so hard that I'll embarrass you in front of all your little friends, you understand me?"
Fontana narrowed her eyes, and I watch the color drain out of Andrew's eyes. He scoffed and backed up. "Man, whatever, I was joking anyway."
"Same way your parents were joking around when they made you. Unlike a joke, you can't take it back." Casiah smiled, Andrew glared and rolled his eyes as his goons oohed and laughed, following him like pack dogs.
Connie looked at me and titled her head. "Hey, are you okay? They didn't do anything to you, right?"
"No, actually... All Andrew did was make fun of my hair and talk about I'm behind, socially."
"Wait," Casiah glanced at Andrew's backside. "You know that jerk? How?"
"Me and him dated for a bit."
"HUH!?" They all exclaimed so loudly that my ears hurt a bit. I forget that not everyone is aware of "Andrew the great" sometimes, but at least it's refreshing.
"Oh my god, that's terrible," Connie consoled. "He doesn't seem like a good person. Dating him sounds like a nightmare."
I shuddered again as the memories came floating back. "You have no idea."
"Well, that guy should be thankful that you EVEN spoke to him, okay? You're so out of his league, it's not even funny." Casiah rolled her eyes as Fontana nodded.
"Uh-huh, yeah! Hey," Fontana put an arm around her shoulder. "If that dude gives you trouble, just call me up, and I'll make sure he stays away."
I nodded my head and off we went to pay for our stuff. As I listen to Fontana, Casiah and Connie, I felt so good about what they did, Mckayla, Tracey and Chase would have never done something like that for me.
Mostly because Mckayla was too busy licking Andrew's drool to be the best friend she was supposed to be, but I digress. The way everyone stood up for me in front of the golden boy himself, was so crazy to me.
It's nice to know that I have good people around me like that, so this is what it's like to be a part of a friend group instead of being on the outskirts of it, I got why people seemed so happy with their friends, it was so freeing.
I'd never felt so happy.
