Chapter 5: Written in Blood
The blood moon hung like a crimson wound above Halliwell Manor, bleeding darkness into the attic's ancient corners. Kikyo's spirit materialized with urgent grace, her ethereal form casting shadows that whispered millennia-old secrets.
"The truth reveals itself," Kikyo's voice carried centuries of wisdom. "About why the jewel chose you, why destiny has been weaving this tapestry since before your first breath."
The attic door exploded inward. Inuyasha filled the frame, raw energy crackling around him like a living storm. His golden eyes locked onto Heather, pupils dilating with primal recognition.
"Your scent..." he moved forward, each step deliberate. "Cherry blossoms and lightning, but deeper. Older."
Kagome appeared behind him, her sharp intake of breath slicing through the charged atmosphere. "No," she whispered, horror and understanding warring in her eyes. "Not this. Not her."
"What's happening?" Heather's voice trembled as heat bloomed through her body. The space where the jewel shard had lived pulsed with unfamiliar power.
"You are not merely a vessel," Kikyo's spirit proclaimed. "You are Inuyasha's destined mate - the one his yokai blood has hunted across centuries."
Purple demon markings blazed across Inuyasha's cheekbones. When his fingers brushed Heather's wrist, supernatural power erupted through the attic - a force that rewrote reality itself.
"I've been searching," his voice rumbled like distant thunder. "Every lifetime, every awakening... waiting for you."
"Stop!" Kagome's cry shattered the moment. Tears carved rivers down her cheeks. "I freed him first! I loved him first!"
"Love is not possession," Kikyo's spirit said softly. "Destiny speaks a language beyond human understanding."
Their auras merged - her Charmed magic dancing with his demonic energy. Two halves of an ancient whole, finding each other across impossible distances.
"Mine," Inuyasha growled, pressing his forehead to hers. "My true mate."
"I think my soul always knew," Heather whispered.
The blood moon watched. The spider demons would come. But in this moment, nothing existed except their bond - older than time, stronger than magic, more profound than any single lifetime could contain.
And they would be ready.
