Chapter 36
A week after the wedding, the group could go back to normal with none of the stress.
Undoubtedly, not everything went back to normal. Thomas and Vicky did not expect the fact their fail of a wedding was on social media and news outlets. This meant that their school heard all about it, and there was some judgment from people who were the most jealous of them.
This lead to a lot of people judging Vicky and Thomas about the failed wedding.
The group was at their usual table in the cafeteria, eating their lunch. This time joined by Alex, Xanders sister.
There were few people eyeing them, especially Vicky and Thomas, and whispering to their friends.
Vicky glanced around at the people who did that and sighed. She sunk her head into the folds of her arms on the table and made a strange noise to show her frustration.
"I hate people so much, they all give me a headache," Vicky said, which was slightly muffled by the fact that she still kept her face in her arms.
"Dont worry about these fools, they'll forget about it in a week. They are the typical jealous people that don't have enough life, so invest their time in others lives" Luke said from the opposite side of the table from Vicky, while throwing a grape at her.
"Yeah exactly!" Sam exclaimed while patting Luke on the shoulder, "and those who know the full story think you were brave to stand against your family. Both you and Thomas" Sam added, while gesturing to Thomas on the other side of her.
Thomas paused while his face was stuffed with some salad, while eyeing Sam and Vicky, while realising what Sam said and blushing.
"Oh nah, give all the credit to Vicky. My dad doesn't care nor talk to me anyway so this really doesn't change my case" Thomas shrugged, fully swallowing his salad.
"Oh shut up Thomas, we are his kids, he does care" Helen responded, sitting just at the opposite side to him.
"Right, okay sure" Thomas rolled his eyes at Helen.
Vicky finally sat up and took a deep breath and smiled slightly.
"Okay, I am cool. Thanks guys" Vicky said, while going for her jelly.
"And remember my offer of beating up people who bother you" Jay said while hitting her shoulder lightly, while Zack eyed him from the other side of Vicky, from under his glasses.
"Jay, you cant always solve things with violence," Zack said while taking his glasses off.
"Oh shut up grandma. You are no fun" Jay responded, while sticking his tongue out.
"Okay gals, you are both pretty ladies, now get back to your food" Alex said, while glancing over from beside Helen.
Zack and Jay went back to what they were doing, glaring at each other with smirks plastered on their faces.
"Please never leave us" Gemini said from the other side of Luke, looking over at Alex, who chuckled in response.
After the last bell rang, some of the group came out of the building chatting about their day. Their sports day was cancelled due to shortage of staff, so as you can image the group was pretty annoyed.
"I was looking forward to this for two weeks since it was announced. I cant believe they had the audacity to do this to me" Sam said as she dropped on her knees dramatically, which ended in her hitting her knees too hard against the rocky path.
"God stop being so overdramatic, you can play sports any other day of the week" Felix rolled his eyes as Sam used him to drag herself back up.
Sam looked annoyed at him and proceeded to elbow him in the ribs.
"Excuse you. I loved the idea of kicking your butt in all the sports the school would provide" Sam said while tucking some hair strands behind her ear.
"Oh really?? Because I know for a fact Id beat your ass any day" Felix said while standing his ground.
"Oh yeah?! Well.." Sam went on at Felix as the rest looked at them in disbelief.
"I swear to god we cannot allow them to be in the same space ever again" Hiro said while sighing at the fact that Sam proceeded to untie her shoe to beat Felix with.
"And I thought Thomas and my cousin Lavender were violent when it came to who was better in science" Helen shook her head while crossing her arms in disapproval.
"You guys think this is bad. I basically have to live with this every day man. One time they were playing football so violently to the point they destroyed my perfectly organised collection of tools and lets just say they are lucky to be breathing right now" Alice said as she cringed in response to everyone's complaints.
Next thing you know, Jay was running in their direction, straight past the arguing sports maniacs.
"Guys, I managed to convince some of the Physical Education teachers to let us borrow some sports wear so we can organise our own sports day if we wish to. And you know what I say? Hell to the yeah!!" Jay said as he threw the bag of sports clothes towards the legs of Luke and Gemini.
"Right okay?" Luke raised his eyebrows at this, while when Sam and Felix heard this, their eyes lit up like thousands of fireflies.
"Omg Jay you are a genius! Lets do this guys!" Sam jumped up in the air, while placing a big kiss on Jays cheek, grabbing the bag and running for the big field in the school that they had.
"Wait for me punk!" Felix ran after Sam, making sure to catch up with her.
"Well I did not expect that, but I wont say I didn't enjoy it" Jay smirked to himself as he looked back at the two running freaks.
"I cant believe we are doing this. I legit thought I wouldn't have to do this sports day after all" Zack sighed while rubing his temples.
The group proceeded to walk towards the big field, and found the two insane sports freaks laying on the grass, out of breath.
"I am placing my bets that one of them will die by the end of this" Xander cringed at the sight of them breathing heavily.
"10 bucks its Felix" Thomas said while still looking at the two with pain in his eyes.
"Deal deal mister" Xander said while shaking his head.
"Okay guys, so what I thought we should do is pick out the leaders and split ourselves into at least 4 groups....Since there are four different coloured sports wear" Jay said, while looking at everyone around him.
"Sorry love, but count me out. Especially since there is 13 of us which would make it uneven. But Ill sit over at the side benches and watch you guys suffer. Toodles" Helen said, as she blew a kiss to the group and proceeded to walk away to where she indicated.
Jay looked a bit taken aback but continued anyway. "Okay well, I think it would be cool to have our teams represent the elements, seeing as the colours of the clothes match perfectly" Jay said as he did a dramatic shruge to indicate 'why not'.
"Hmm, I don't know man. Can we not? Like I am just so tired and want to go home and take a shower and all that jazz like a normal student after school" Vicky said as she sat down on the grass and put her head in both of her palms.
Jay rolled his eyes, looked at his phone and put the flashlight on and threw it at Vicky. She got startled as she proceeded to catch the phone, and raise her eyes towards Jay, arching her brows.
"Lighten the fuck up Vic, its time to do something fun as a group" Jay said, as he came up to her and taken the phone away.
"There was no need for the horrendous pun mate" Vicky rolled her eyes.
"Since I wanted this so damn badly for the past few weeks, I wanna be one of the leaders, specifically the Air element team" Sam announced as she stood up and grabbed the lilac sports clothes.
"Cause you're an airhead" Felix whispered while Sam, hearing what he said, glared down at him.
"I volunteer Rach to be the leader of the Water element team. Because shes as mysterious and beautiful as the ocean" Luke said, as he smirked at Rach. She arched her eyebrows while grabbing the blue sports wear. Alice gagged in the back hearing the cheesiness of his sentence.
"Fine then ladies, if that's how we are playing and since you are all making me do this, Ill be the leader of the Earth element team" Vicky announced as she stood up and grabbed the forest green sports suit.
"Okay, most of the leaders are ladies, any guys wanting to volunteer as tribute?" Jay asked, looking from Thomas, to Felix, to Luke, and lastly at Xander.
"Why not you?" Thomas asked curiously.
"I am not the type to take the lead that's all" Jay shrugged at the question.
"Ill do it then. Fire seems to just fit me" Xander said as he walked over and took the red sports suit.
At that, the leaders were finally formed and used the changing rooms that were still open to change into their sports wear, while also freashning up.
"Okay so since the dream team of leaders are ready, its your job to pick whos gonna be on your team" Jay said, while laying down on the grass to take a small rest.
"If that's the case, then Luke you are with me" Xander said, putting a hand on his hip smugly.
"I mean, I wouldn't think anything less. I am as hot as fire" Luke said, grabbing the red suit and running for the changing rooms.
"Oh really, well I want Thomas!" Sam exclaimed and pointed towards him, making him jump in his spot, almost dropping the phone he was holding.
"Honey, we all know you do" Rachel whispered to herself, which earned few giggles from the other leaders standing by, and a glare from Sam. This turned her face scarlet.
"Okay?" Thomas chuckled nervously, grabbing a lilac sports wear and leaving for the changing rooms.
The picking went on, and the teams were chosen. Fire team had Xander, Luke and Jay. Water team had Rachel, Felix and Zack. Earth team had Vicky, Alice and Hiro. And the air team had Sam, Thomas and Gemini.
The janitors at the school were kind enough to help them set up some of the sports things they'll be doing for the sports afternoon.
There was a football pitch set up, some parkour, fences we needed to jump over, and running path which was already there for us to race on. All the groups stood together, as their first challenge stood right in front of them. It was time for some hurdles.
Each team had to pick the person who was going to take part in this first obstacle.
Air picked Sam, Fire picked Jay, Earth picked Alice and Water picked Felix, but they didn't have a say in this one, it was his time to go against Sam.
Once picked, all the teams gathered up to the marked lines where each player would run along, and the obsitcle things the people would jumping over were laid out for them already.
The chosen ones were stood at their lines and all they needed was a signal.
One of the janitors stood away from the teams but close enough to the tracks for him to give a signal.
"Ready..........set.........GO!!" Janitor chanted as he walked away, and the racers started running.
Taking this opportunity, Jay looked over to Helen and had the perfect idea.
"Hey Helen!" He yelled while running. Helen was looking down at her phone, and only raised her eyebrows to signal that she heard him call for her.
"Look at me go--" Jay called again, but soon was cut off when his foot got tripped over by the obstacle. Before he knew it, he face slammed onto the ground with a huge wince escaping his muffled lips.
Helen only held a thumbs up, eyes glued to her phone screen, nothing but a poker face as her expression.
"What a fucking moron" Luke cringed at the sight of Jay and pulled on his cheeks with his hands.
Sam and Felix were next, head to head running and jumping over the obstacles. Both of them laughed when running past Jay, who has lost any kind of motivation to move.
Alice, who was much slower than the rest of them, managed to jump over one, when her foot got caught on Jays leg and she tumbled forward, just barely catching herself so that her fate wasn't as painful as Jays.
Felix noticed his girlfriend falling, and hesitated for a sec. He wanted to help her, but didn't want to loose this round, so he called out to her hoping she was okay.
In the meantime, Luke was laughing his head off seeing Alice fall. She quickly stood up to her feet and glared at him with rage in her eyes.
"Oh fuck, I haven't seen her look at me like that since the last time I challenged her." Luke eyed Alice, who stormed off towards her team.
"I am gonna beat Luke no matter how far this will take me" she said with absolute anger spitting out her mouth, while Vicky and Hiro raised their eyebrows.
"I am terrified now. Is this how sportsy people are all the time?" Hiro whispered to Vicky, not taking his eyes off Alice, while Vicky just shrugged.
First challenge ended with both Felix and Sam tying. Both of them glared at each other, still full of determination while sweat went down their faces.
Rachel shook her head at the two, knowing that this fun in sports day always ends up being a competition between the two.
The next challenge was a sack race. Each team aligned at their lines and brought in their players who were going to race. Fire picked Luke, Water picked Zack, Air picked Gemini and Earth picked Hiro.
They all put on their sacks and started the race.
"This is going to be easy!" Luke yelled, as he started jumping forward.
The rest did too. Zack looked very serious and concentrated on what he was doing, Hiro looked bored and kept stumbling around, while Gemini just took her sweet time. So far in the lead was Luke.
Gemini got to Hiro and smirked his way.
"Hey babe, lets see who wins" Gemini said while cackling. Hiro given her the side eye while speeding up forward, leaving Gemini in the dust, shocked on what just happened.
Meanwhile, Luke speed up knowing Hiro did too, which only made things worse for himself, as he jumped onto a rock and tumbled down onto the ground.
"Oh FUCK" he yelled out as he collided with the ground, orange dust going into his hair.
"Luke my bro, I am coming to the rescue!" Jay yelled out while running towards Luke to help him out. To his luck, once he got to Luke he tripped over his own two feet and fell forwards just across Luke's body.
Everyone started giggling in the background looking at the sighet. Unexpectedly though, Zack paused in his tracks, stared down at Luke and Jay and burst into a wide laughter, which made him fall backwards onto the ground. Tears were going down his face.
Everyone looked at him in surprise, knowing this doesn't happen a lot of the time. Hiro didn't pay any attention to this, and was the first to make it to the end, while Gemini following shortly which made the Earth team win this round.
"Gosh, this day is getting longer and longer. Id rather be in my bed" Gemini remarked, as she took off the sack from her feet and walked over to her awaiting team.
The day went on, and the gang played all kinds of games. They did a normal sprint between Rachel, Vicky, Thomas and Xander, which Rachel won after Thomas challenged her and told her she was slow with her short legs.
They also did Egg and Spoon, giving Luke, Zack, Sam and Alice a go. This one resulted in Luke winning, because Alice decided to take it 'slow and steady' while Sam dropped it when Zack bumped into her and Zack dropped it right after loosing his balance.
Their final battle was the dodge ball game.
"Okay guys, its the final game of the day, this time we have two pare our groups with another one to battle against one another. Since the Water team are in the lead they get to pick the team they pare up with, out of this little bag" Jay said as he handed the bag over to Rachel, who stuck her hand in, and grabbed one of the pieces of paper.
Once she unfolded it, she read what team she has gotten.
"Air team is with us!" Rachel said, as she looked over to Sam who nodded in approval. But this meant that this time she had to work with Felix instead of against him.
"Dang it I was hoping she'd get our team so I could play alongside Rach" Luke said as he pouted his bottom lip and given Jay the sad puppy eyes. He only shrugged at him, as he couldn't do anything about it.
"Ugh I need to play on the same team as that fool" Alice rolled her eyes as she glanced over towards Luke.
The teams went to each side, and prepared themselves for what was to come.
"Hey Sam, since we are on the same team, lets team up against Luke and Jay. We both know they are hella competitive" Felix suggested, while Sam smirked and nodded. She given a glance towards the pare she was going to gang up against, and Jay knew the look of hers too well.
"Oh here we go again, Sam is challenging us" Jay said, as he smirked in her direction. Luke looked at her and nodded in approval.
Meanwhile, Vicky was glancing over and realsing she was going against her boyfriend, and also noticing how competitive everyone was getting. She smirked to herself, and came over to Alice.
"Seeing as your boyfriend is getting competitive in the team opposite to us, and my boyfriend is there with him, lets beat them in this game" Vicky whispered to Alice, who laughed lightly at her suggestion and nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, Gemini and Rachel decided to team up again Hiro. Everyone seemed to have someone they were wanting to go against.
On the benches where Helen was sitting, Alex joined her by sitting next to her.
"How is the wild bunch doing?" Alex asked while she put her bag next to her.
"They are being as chaotic as ever. I am surprised that they are still friends by how much they went through already" Helen mentioned towards Alex while putting her phone down and glancing over at what the group was doing now.
"Lets hope we don't witness murder but I cant promise that one of them wont just kill them all off" Alex mentioned while chuckling to herself.
Back to the team, they have played their first match and the Air and Water team won this round.
"Aw are the pretty faces struggling to keep up?" Felix smirked over at Luke and Jay, while Sam laughed and high five him.
"Okay you won one round, get over yourself man" Luke rolled his eyes, clearly salty about the lose.
Meanwhile, Vicky was panting while Zack and Thomas came closer.
"Oh is Vicky getting comeptative at a sport or am I seeing things?" Thomas smirked, knowing how to tease his best friend.
"I guess she is, who would have thought" Zack crossed his arms while looking over at Vicky who now eyed the two and came closer over to them.
"If you don't stop your stupid ass teasing, next ball I throw at you will hit you both so hard you'll fly straight back to England and onto Queen Elizabeths doorstep, you imbeciles" Vicky said while glaring at the two who genuinely felt scared for their life, knowing they have unleashed the beast within her.
She went over to Jay and Luke, to talk to them about the game.
"Okay guys, it seems as though you guys are competitive against a different part of the opposing team than us. Xander cant keep up, while Alice overlaps and Hiro is just confused. Why don't we actually straticise together?" Vicky said and the rest of the team heard her and came over.
"Thats very true, we lacked a bit of the teamwork because we are from two different teams, what are we thinking?" Jay mentioned and they all stood in a circle and talked about their strategy.
"What is going on over there?" Gemini looked over to the other team and so did the rest of them.
"I think now they decided to take it more seriously" Thomas responded, while the others looked at him and then raised their eyebrows. From confusion and surprise.
Once the teams ended their conversations, it was time for round two.
The balls were flying as the teamed struggled to dudge the balls flying towards them. First out this time was Gemini, surisingly taken out by Hiro himself, who just smirked and shrugged while she came off the game.
Next was Alice. She was unfortunately hit by Thomas when she didn't look over at him, and run out of the playing field next to Gemini.
The game kept going until it was Rachel, Felix and Sam on one side, and Luke, Jay and Vicky on the other.
As the balls kept flying, eventually Rachel got hit and had to come off to Lukes dismay. Unfortunately it wasn't long until he got hit as well because he was too distracted about the fact that Rachel had to leave.
After 5 more minutes, the Earth and Fire team was victorious this round.
"Ha HA you bloody loosers, take that!" Luke yelled over at the other team.
"I am impressed at the fact Vicky heavily refused to take part at the start, but now is the one who caused us to team work better" Jay said while smirking at Vicky and Luke.
"I hate sports, but I am competitive and I like winning. Besides, the faster we get this game done, the faster I can get home" Vicky shrugged.
"I cannot believe this, we are at a tie and the next round with determine the winner" Rachel said to Sam while holding her cheek worriedly.
"Dont worry, we can beat them this time, we just have to be more careful" Sam said and the rest of the team nodded.
"Also, Vicky wont let me outlive this" Zack said laughing nervously imaging if that were to happen.
"God, Hiro would rub it so hard in my face, saying he's not only smart but also good at sports blah blah blah" Gemini winced at the thought of that.
"Alice would just randomly remind me about it if I misbehaved" Felix pounded.
"Sad days for the lads with significant others" Sam rolled her eyes at her team who were overreacting.
While the other team were talking about loosing, the fire and earth team were talking about strategies.
"Not gonna lie, I feel like the other team are hella scared of us now" Xander mentioned while glancing over at the other team.
"They are scared that if we win we'll rub it in their faces" Alice smirked.
"Yea, well I am definitely scared if Gemini wins. She wins at almost anything we go against each other for" Hiro sighed while side eyeing where Gemini is standing.
"Dont worry Hiro, its going to be fine. We will win" Xander pat Hiro on his shoulder, to comfort him.
"Its easy for you to say, your boyfriend isn't with us at the moment so you arent playing against him Xander" Vicky said while rasing her eyebrow.
"Oi you there, Vincent is just busy and I'd still be fine because he isn't that competitive" Xander said while crossing his arms.
"Also, not to mention that Zack is too soft to rub it in your face if you loose" Alice mummered under her breath.
"Oh, OH?! Just because Zack is emotional, doesn't make him soft. He teases the heck out of me" Vicky said firmly.
"Okay sweethearts, we have a game to win. I don't care about your significant others" Jay mentioned towards the place they've been playing the game this whole time and everyone went over there.
Final round began.
Helen and Alex were still watching from afar, this time a little bit more invested as it was a final round to determine which team was going to win.
"Who do you think is going to win?" Alex asked Helen as she eyed her.
"I am guessing my brothers team, but that's cause they have the sports freaks on their team" Helen shruged while Alex nodded.
"See, I was more thinking my brothers side because they have Luke and Jay who are competitive as heck" Alex shrugged as well.
"To be honest, I feel like neither of our twin brothers will carry their teams though" Helen cackled underbreath knowing how little Thomas knew about sports or how to play.
"Girl, you are definitely not wrong" she said as they both fistbumped.
As the two watched the game more, something started to catch Helens eye.
As Sam moved around her team mates and through balls at the other team, something blue and sparkly was coming off her shoes. What Sam did not realise, was that she was accidentally slightly using her powers while running around.
Helen noticed the exact spark, and when she noticed it more, she took her phone camera out and zoomed in.
That caught Alex attention, and as she was about to ask her why she did that, Helen stood up in shock looking around.
"Helen?" Alex asked, and Helen looked down at her and smiled as calmly as she could.
"Oh sorry, I though I saw something and had to zoom in on it with my phone. Anyways, dad texted and needs me home, so let Thomas know please" Helen said, as she didn't give Alex a second more, and grabbed her back and sprinted off the school field.
Alex looked confused, but shrugged it off.
As Helen made her way in front of the school gates where no one was there, she looked at the picture she took of the blue lightning sparkle coming off Sams feet, and she compared it to the same sparkle that is seen in videos of Plasma Speed running with a blue lightning sparkle coming from behind her.
Helen turned her phone off, and her eyes widened. She looked back at the school building, sighing. She started walking in the direction of her home, not knowing what to do with herself at the moment in time.
Back with the game, the teams were laying on the ground panting. The Earth and Fire team was victorious after all. In the end, Luke was the one to take the last hit against Felix. The two managed to be the last two standing and Felix unfortunately was not fast enough.
"Well that was a good game guys" Jay said while standing up and holding his hand out to the other team while waiting for someone to shake it.
Meanwhile, Sam and Felix were laying on the ground, in disbelief that they have been beaten at a game, when they thought would win working together.
"Well you better never mess with me ever again punks" Vicky looked over and Zack and Thomas sitting on the ground resting.
"I am never going to live the end of this one huh?" Zack looked at Vicky, attempting at doing the puppy dog eyes, while Vicky just smirked.
"Hmm, maybe you will, for the right winner award" Vicky said as she winked at walked away.
Thomas sat there chuckling to himself, but also trying to feel as least uncomfortable as he managed.
After the game, everyone scattered home, all of them needing long showers and well-deserved rest. Sam and Jay were walking together to Sam's house, as she still promised to help Jay with some of his homework.
"The way we destroyed you is going to be a highlight of my life. Biggest sports freak loosing" Jay laughed at Sam while looking at the photo on his phone that the group took before they all left.
"Hey, maybe you should stop being such a cocky bastard huh? Ill get you guys next time. It was just a simple slip up" Sam responded and punched Jay in the arm. He flinched while jumping to his left, staying away from Sam.
"Okay okay, no need to get so violent" Jay said while rubbing the spot that hurt him.
Once they arrived at Sams house, she let him in and they were greeted by Sam's mum. Once they did that, they went up stairs to Sams room.
Jay put his bag down on Sams desk chair and took his books out - it was English and he absolutely dreaded it already.
Sam placed her bag on the side of her bed and took out her notebook where all her notes were in.
They both sat down on the bed and chatted away about the work.
While this was happening, Vicky, Zack and Thomas were walking together to walk Vicky to her house, as both Zack and Thomas lived near each other, so it was only polite that they both walked her first.
"I think I broke every bone in my body" Vicky complained, massaging the back of her neck while the two boys were behind her snickering.
"Oh but at least you won. And also exercise is good for people's health and that..." Zack continued and Thomas quickly shook his head because he knew Vicky was not in the mood for the health conversation.
The rest of the group got home on time for dinner, while Alice took a visit to her boyfriends house.
At Sams house, she was continuing to explain stuff to Jay, while he was slowly but surely understanding the topics even though he still hated it all just as much.
"Okay so now word choice-" Sam continued but was cut off by Jay getting off the bed.
"No no no, break break break" Jay yelled out as he shook his hands in front of Sams face to indicate that she should stop.
Sam rolled her eyes and pushed the books to the side and signaled for him to come sit back down as she reached to her drawer and took some snacks out for them to eat.
Jay obliged and they had conversations about different random things that were happening in school and just remembering some good old memories.
"I still remember you tripped over your own two feet trying to impress me" Sam smirked at Jay who rolled his eyes and looked away.
"Excuse me but I am pretty sure you were the one who had a crush on me" Jay said quickly, turning red while Sam giggled at his reaction.
"Sure sure" Sam said, as she continued at her snacks. Suddenly Jay placed his hand on one of hers and she looked up at him confused.
"Sam, I don't know if this is the right time, but I need you to know this....I like you" Jay said, turning very serious very fast while Sam was taken aback and didn't know what to say.
"I have liked you for a little while, but the only reason I am telling you this is not because I think anything will happen between us, but because I wanted to be honest with you. I know you like Thomas, and its blindly obvious, and I totally support you in whatever makes you happy. I hope you know this" Jay continued and smiled at Sam, as she smiled back at him and had a little tear in her eye.
"Thank you for telling me this Jay. I mean I won't deny my feelings for Thomas but I use to have feelings for you. You are an amazing guy and you'll find someone as amazing as you. Just know I still love you no matter what" Sam said as she leaned in and kissed Jay on the cheek while he nodded and chuckled at her.
The rest of the day they chatted away about their feelings, about deep conversations, soulmates and love. They both simply forgot about their studies and just layed there holding hands while understanding that between them was just not the right moment nor the right person, but the right person to still keep in life
Lol wow I finally finished this thing. Enjoy while I go cry over this chapter
