Martyn's Perspective-

"Oh, he's awake." The healer said, checking in on Scott.

Martyn perked up and smiled.

"Can I talk to him?"

The healer smiled softly and nodded.

Martyn walked in and saw Scott, having no idea how Kameron had taken over him.

"Hey Scott, how are you feeling? Are you okay? Are you doing better after what happened?"

"I'm okay." Scott shrugged and Martyn gently caressed his hand.

"You're really brave. And I'm so sorry I did that." Martyn's voice grew quiet and shaky.

"It's okay."

Martyn looked up at Scott, wanting to tell him about how he tried to fight Canon, about how he failed, about how Canon had won...but no words came out.

"Everything's going to be alright." Martyn whispered, mostly to himself.

Scott smiled and Martyn kissed his cheek.

"Martyn, do you think you could help me?" Scott asked and Martyn nodded.

"Yeah, anything."

"I need help remembering where our secret base is. The one the principal showed us."

"Oh...that's in the ocean. Would you like me to tell you the coordinates or just have me show you after you're better?"

"Showing me would be good."

"Yeah, of course. Anything."

"I was tricked." Martyn told Scar and Grian, "I had no idea that Canon- er, I guess Kameron now, was controlling Scott."

"And I can't believe that Canon isn't actually Canon." Scar said.

"Yeah. Jimmy seemed really messed up after he and the officer checked on Kameron." Martyn said, "He kept asking me if I was okay and what had happened after I realized Kameron was taking over Scott."

"What happened?" Grian asked quietly.

Martyn sighed.

"I almost died that day."

"So here's our base." Martyn said, leading Scott to their hourglass.

"Oh wow. Yeah, I remember this now." Scott said, rubbing his hand over the glass.

Martyn smiled and Scott smirked, turning to him.

"I gotta say, you are really stupid." Scott said.

Martyn's eyes widened, "What?"

Scott chuckled, "You fell for it so easily, you're so desperate for everything to be okay when you and I both know it's not going to be."

Scott threw an arrow into Martyn's chest.

Martyn groaned and his vision grew blurry.

"Should've known that I would come and take over your partner. It's so easy." Scott smirked and dug the arrow deeper into Martyn.

"P-please, stop." Martyn said weakly.

Scott smirked and laughed darkly.

"Toodles!"

"Martyn?"

"Martyn, wake up."

Martyn groaned and he snapped back in focus.

He gasped and shot up in the hospital bed.

"Woah there son, it's okay. Lay down." Martyn's father pushed him back down.

"Canon! They took over Scott! We have to go save him!" Martyn called out and his parents exchanged worried looks.

"Where- where am I?" He asked.

"The hospital. Luckily, Lizzie was underwater, helping some teens train and she found you." Martyn's mother said.

"Did she see Scott? Er- Canon? Just- did she see them?"

"We don't know."

Martyn sighed and started to cry.

"This is all my fault." He sobbed.

The healers walked in with the principal and Lizzie behind them.

"Did you find Canon? Did you save Scott?" Martyn asked Lizzie.

"Wh- oh, Martyn I'm sorry. I- I couldn't fight and save you."

"You should've let me die to save Scott." Martyn cried, "You should've let me drown as long as Scott was okay."

The principal sighed and pushed in front of Lizzie.

"Martyn, maybe this case is too much for you. Why don't you just take a break? I'll gladly give you the year off to relax."

"Wh-what? No!! I have to keep fighting!"

"Martyn, look at what state you're in." The principal said firmly.

"Marty, maybe he's right." Martyn's father said.

"DON'T CALL ME THAT!" Martyn shouted at his father before realizing how deep he was in his emotions.

The principal sighed.

"If you still want to help on the case and help superheroes train, come back in one year."

He and Lizzie then left.

Martyn watched them leave and continued to cry.
