More Than One Life Can Be Spared

Hermione, Harry and I had made ourselves comfortable on the hard forest ground. Waiting for the other us's come back up through the passageway. The evening peace was great. Buckbeak was behind us in the forest, enjoying himself the last few ferrets. Nearly an hour had passed and night began to fall. Bat's flew all around us and I had my head was laying on Harry's shoulder tiredly. We all ducked avoiding the flying creatures, while Buckbeak chomped at them as they flew over him. Enjoying another snack.

"Well, at least someone's enjoying themselves." Hermione chuckled.

"Yeah." Harry and I agreed.

"Harry?" I questioned after a few moments.

"Yeah?"

"Down by the lake, you mentioned seeing Dad... What did you mean?" I asked curiously.

"Well, before, down by the lake when we were with Sirius. I did see someone behind that Stag. That someone made the Dementors go away." Harry explained lightly.

"With a Patronus." Hermione spoke up, making us look to her. "I heard Snape telling Dumbledore. According to him, only a really powerful couple of wizards could have conjured them."

"It was our Dad." Harry answered her brightly. The smile plastered on his face was from ear to ear.

"I couldn't see the people behind them, but I did see the Stag and the other was a bird I couldn't quite make out." I relayed to them both. "It would make sense, somehow, if the Stag was our father. Lupin said he used to call you his little stag and if you haven't noticed, they're the creators of the Marauder's map. That's why Lupin knew how to use it. He's Moony." I explained my thoughts and he nodded.

"But, Olivia, Harry your Dad, he's..." Hermione struggled for a moment.

"Dead." Harry snapped at her. "We know. I'm just telling you what I saw."

"I wonder who the other one could have been..." I asked more myself out loud then anybody else.

"Here we come." Hermione pointed out quickly as we all began to emerge again from the passageway.

We stood up and watched the scene before us unfold once again. Harry and Olivia trailed down towards Sirius. I couldn't stop the smile that crawled upon my face at the thought of the conversation we'd had.

"Hermione, you see Sirius talking to us there?" Harry asked.

    "Mhm." She nodded.

"Well, he was asking us to come and live with him." I said with a smile.

"That's wonderful you guys." Hermione said cheerfully.

"When we free him, Liv and I will never have to go back to the Dursley's." Harry explained euphorically.

"It'll be just the three of us. Living as a proper family as we should have years ago." I sighed at the blissful thought.

"We could take him to live in the country." Harry explained cheerfully. "Some place you can see the sky. Don't you think he'd like that after all these years in Azkaban?" He asked and I nodded in agreement.

"Harry! Olivia!" Hermione's voice shouted in the distance.

The chaotic events of the night began to unfold. Professor Lupin transformed into a werewolf, by the light of the moon. He let out a loud howl and we knew we needed to move fast in order to save Sirius.

"Run! Run!" Sirius shouted desperately at the others and they didn't move.

I grabbed Harry's hand and tugged him back into the woods as the other Hermione screamed.

"Let's go!" I whispered urgently.

We ran through the trees listening to the snarling and yelping that was coming from both Sirius and Lupin, as the black dog and Werewolf. We ran close to the forest's edge watching Harry and Olivia chase after them recklessly. Not that I would change what we'd done. We made it just down below as Lupin lifted Sirius's animagus form into the air and he loud out a heart wrenching yelp. Olivia and Harry stood just down the path from them and began pelting rocks, until one of them smacked the werewolf in the head.

Professor Lupin's werewolf form roared at the two of them and tossed Sirius aside. It slowly stalked towards them, but it didn't seem as though anything was going to save us. Suddenly, Hermione who was standing beside me, cupped her hands over her mouth and began to howl.

"Awooo!" She howled into the night air. I jumped and Harry quickly covered her mouth.

"What are you doing?!"

"Saving your lives!" Hermione said quickly.

I quickly cupped my hands over my mouth as the werewolf still hadn't completely turned away from us. Hermione shook Harry off and cupped her hands again.

"Awooo!" Hermione and I howled together.

"Thanks." Harry breathed. The werewolf snarled and began charging down the hill and towards the forest. "Great! Now he's coming for us!"

"Yeah, we didn't think about that." Hermione frowned.

"Run!" I yelled, turning on my feet and heading deeper into the forest.

The three of us ran through the trees, over the roots and stumps, desperately to get away from the werewolf that was snarling viciously behind us. We ran and ran. Harry tripped over a root and fell to the round. Hermione and I quickly stopped in our tracks and went back for him. Pulling him up to his feet and running off again, the three of us held hands and didn't let go, so we wouldn't lose each other.

The werewolf whined in the distance and we stopped behind a large tree. It's trunk was wide enough around that the three of us  teenagers could stay hidden behind it. We took the moment to try and steady our rapid breathing, while we could hear and see the werewolf approach into the same area we were all in. He seemed to sniff in the air and we slowly crept around the tree to keep out of sight. Professor Lupin's werewolf howled behind our tree and the sound of his feet running off filled the air. The three of us slowly crept out from behind the tree, hands still linked.

We moved backwards as we scanned the forest in front of us for any sign of the werewolf. Tree branches snapped behind us and a low snarling sound was made. We slowly turned our bodies around and behind us was the werewolf. Hermione, Harry and I gasped and huddled together as he approached. There was no point in running and our feet were froze to the ground. I felt Harry place his arms over both of us protectively.

We waited for the blow to come as the loud snarl was much closer. Another loud, angry squawk was heard, making Hermione and I both scream. We back up slightly and looked up from our huddled position, as Buckbeak stood on his hind legs in front of the three of us protectively. His wings were out and his front feet kicked Lupin's werewolf in the face. He let out a loud yelp of pain and then a growling roar. Buckbeak stood on his feet again and forced the werewolf backwards, away from us. Buckbeak bellowed as the werewolf as he retreated into the forest. Buckbeak turned and gave us a proud look.

"That was so scary." Hermione whimpered, placing her head into Harry's chest. I hugged the both of them tightly, grateful to be alive.

"Poor Professor Lupin's having a really rough night." Harry said sympathetically.

"Oh definitely." I agreed.

A sudden wind blew through the night air and it was brisk and cold. We looked up into the night air and there was the crowd of Dementors, at least a hundred of the creatures if not more, gliding through the night sky. I shivered slightly at the cold that filled the air and gasped realizing what part came next.

"Sirius! Harry, Hermione, come on!" I yelled and ran through the forest, in the direction the Dementors were headed.

We ran through the tree's until we reached the other side of the lake. Harry and Olivia's patronus charms had just disappeared and their screams echoed around the lake. I cringed at the sound of my own voice and the thought of the fear I had experienced.

"This is horrible." Hermione gasped quietly.

"Don't worry, our Dad and the other will come." Harry assured her. "They'll conjure the Patronus."

We watched near helpless, as the Dementors approached and sucked the life out of the three of them. The hundreds of floating creatures began to descend downwards from the sky and encircled Harry, Olivia, and Sirius. I watched the spot I knew the light had come from and waited, but it seemed as though no one was coming to save us this time. Dementors started to pile hover over us, three on Olivia, two on Harry, and nearly a dozen over Sirius.

"Any minute now!" Harry insisted. "Right there, you'll see!"

"Harry, listen to me. No one's coming." Hermione told him grimly.

"Don't worry! They will. They will come!" Harry spoke, trying to assure us.

"Harry, we're all dying!" I gasped. I pulled my wand from my pocket and so did he.

The two of us ran out onto the rock beside each other. I let every good memory I've ever had fill me with delight. Harry, my brother and our many adventures, how much love I have for him. Hermione, spending time with her this year, sitting in the library reading, laughing, having fun. Ron, the happiness he brings me just by being around. His funny nature, his protectiveness, the way he hold's my hand in his, the way he makes my heart flutter and fill with intense happiness. Professor Lupin being the greatest teacher we've ever had and knowing he's family no matter his condition. And Sirius. He's family, our godfather, the thought of coming to live with him instead of the Dursley's, just talking to him was quite possibly the happiest moment I've ever felt thus far.

"Olivia! Harry!" Hermione shouted harshly after us as we ran.

"EXPECTO PATRONUM!" Harry and screamed with every ounce of energy within us.

The energy filled my body as I thought every happy memory I've ever had at once. The familiar silver light burst forth from our wands, but this time it wasn't in the small wispy silvery clouds. Two animal forms burst from our wands. Harry's was a Stag, standing firmly in front of Harry. Brilliant, brave, majestic, and protective. Mine, soared out from my wand into the air in circles above my head, around me and then out forward. It was an owl, a snowy owl at that. Fierce, protective, loyal, wise, and brave.

Light shimmered off from their silvery forms and burst forward through the air, chasing ever single Dementor away. Their screams filled the air until they were gone. Olivia and Harry both passed out next to Sirius's body. The light finally began to fade from our wands. The Stag gave Harry and I a majestic bow, and the Snowy Owl landed on my shoulder, giving us both a nod, before disappearing. Leaving the night dark and warm once again.

"Harry! It was us! We did it!" I laughed happily as I jumped on him.

"I can't believe it!" Harry laughed and hugged me tightly. "That was amazing!"

"Guys! We still have to free Sirius, the teachers are coming!" Hermione shouted lowly.

The three of us ran back into the forest and climbed aboard Buckbeak, as he was the fastest means of transport for us to get back to the castle. I sat in front of Harry with my arms out like he suggested, enjoying the light breeze on my face.

"You were right, Hermione. It wasn't our Dad I saw earlier!" Harry laughed as she held tightly to his waist. "It was me and Olivia! I saw ourselves conjuring the Patronus's before. I knew I could do it this time, because, well, I'd already done it!"

"I agree! I didn't even think twice, I just felt myself know what to do in order to save us and Sirius!" I giggled happily. "Does that make any sense?"

"No!" Hermione huffed and looked around her. "But I don't like flying!" She screamed as Buckbeak dove downward towards the school. Harry and I both shouted in delight.

When Buckbeak landed we ran to the Dark Tower. I ran up first and skidded to a stop in front of the cell, which Sirius looked at me surprised.

"You might want to step back!" I said quickly. He nodded and moved back as far as he could go. "Bombarda!" I shouted aiming my wand at the lock.

It exploded and the cell door swung open. The four of us rushed and climbed aboard Buckbeak. It was a tight fit, but we made it work. Sirius laughed happily a we glided into the air. Buckbeak took us down to one of the courtyards and we all climbed off, and quickly went into the corridor to not be seen.

"I'll be forever grateful for this, to all three of you." Sirius relayed genuinely.

"I want to go with you." Harry said.

"Me too!" I stepped forward with a nod.

"One day perhaps. For some time my life will be too unpredictable. And besides." Sirius tapped forward placing a hand on Harry's shoulder and grabbing my hand with his other. "You're both meant to be here."

"But you're innocent." I insisted. Sirius gave me a proud smile and led us to a bench to sit. Hermione walked over to Buckbeak to give us some privacy.

"And you two know it. And for now that'll do." Sirius smiled gently. "I expect you're tired of hearing this, but you look so like your mother and like your father. Except your eyes. You both have..."

"My father's eyes." I smiled.

"My mother's eyes." Harry chuckled softly.

"It's cruel that I got to spend so much time with James and Lily and you so little. But know this, the ones that love us never really leave us. You can always find them... right in here." Sirius placed a hand over our hearts and tears filled my eyes. He got back up and led us over to Buckbeak and Hermione. "You know, Olivia, Hermione." Sirius turned after getting on Buckbeak. "You really are the brightest witches of your age. Know that I am so proud of you." Sirius looked at me and I smiled while wiping my tears away.

Buckbeak reared up and ran, lifting from the ground into the night sky, with Sirius on his back. The three of us smiled happily at them and then the bell behind us began to chime.
