Getting Back To Hogwarts
After finishing up our summer at the Weasley's house, known as the Burrow. It was finally time to get back to school. Each of us had gotten up nearly at dawn, but there was still so much to do. Specially with 9 people who were running about collecting our things. And with us all about to try and squeeze into the Ford Angela. Harry and I were very amazed watching Mr. Weasley stack the truck full of seven school trunks. No matter how many times we saw something magical, we were always amazed. As soon as it was packed, we were off. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley sat together in the front, while all seven of us kids sat perfectly in the back, with our own space.
We rushed with our trolleys as we reached the platform entry way.
"10:58. Come on, come on." Mr. Weasley shouted.
"The train will be leaving any moment!" Mrs. Weasley shrieked.
"Fred, George, Percy, you first!" Mr. Weasley directed his children and one by one they disappeared through the gateway to platform 9 and 3/4's.
"Okay." Ginny said as her parents nodded at her. She ran at the wall with them right behind her.
We looked at each other happily and ready to go back to school.
"Let's go." Harry stated. "Liv, you first."
"Okay." I nodded and ran at the wall.
My trolley full, with my trunk, neatly wrapped school books and Arwen in her cage. As soon as the tip of the trolley touched the wall, instead of smoothly going through like usual I crashed. My body went up and over the trolley and onto the ground. Harry and Ron crashed next, unable to stop themselves. They went tumbling forward. Harry fell towards the side and Ronald's body landed on top of mine.
"Ugh." I groaned. I looked up to see Ron's face very close to mine. His blue eyes were wide open in shock as he laid on top of me.
"Are you okay?!" Ron asked suddenly. After coming out of the shock. Both our faces were bright pink. He scrambled off me and helped me up.
"Mhm, I'm good." I groaned. Definitely was in a fair bit of pain.
The people around us stared at the craziness. Hedwig and Arwen were chirping and Scabber's squeaking. The same rude train man from last year walked over to us all.
"Oi! What do you three think you're doin'?"
"Sorry..." Harry cringed as he rubbed his arm.
"We lost control of the trolleys." I explained trying to hide my pain. He shook his head in disappointment at us and walked away. The three of us looked at each other concerned.
"Why can't we get through?" Harry hissed.
"I don't know. The gateway sealed itself for some reason." Ron explained as he felt the bricks.
"Well, what are we supposed to do now?" I asked worriedly. The clock chimed 11 and we all looked up at it. "Oh no, the train leaves at exactly 11 o' clock. We've missed it!"
"Harry, Olivia..." Ron gulped. "If we can't get through... Maybe Mum and Dad can't get back."
"Maybe we should just go an wait by the car." Harry suggested.
"Good idea." I nodded as I picked up my things.
"The car?" Ron said as though he had an idea.
We ran to the lot and quickly placed our things into the trunk of the car. Ron explained he thought it was a good idea to just take the magical car to Hogwarts. Harry and I were hesitant but Ron convinced us. Our trunks were in. The three of us piled into the front seat. Which Harry still refused to let me sit next to Ron. I was going to have to ask him about that later. Ron climbed into the driver's seat and the car began to rise into the air.
"Uh, Ron?" I called out and they both looked at me. "I think I should tell you that Muggles aren't accustomed to seeing a flying car." I pointed out as we flew over London. I worried about the people below.
"Uh, right!" Ron stated nervously. He clicked a small silver button on the dash and the car turned invisible.
He was a bit nervous at first but the longer we flew the easier handling the car got for Ron. We flew up high in the cloud bank, which was a pretty sight for the most part. The blue sky was clear and yet we could still kind of see down below us as Harry and I scoured the ground for the Hogwarts Express. Suddenly we could see the blue hood of the car again. Ron pressed the button over and over and nothing happened.
"Oh, no." Ron groaned. "The invisibility booster must be faulty." As he spoke his voice cracked. Clearly it was beginning to change.
"Well, come on, then, let's go lower." Harry suggested.
"We need to really try and find the train." I agreed.
"Okay." Ron nodded.
He cranked the car into gear and we began to descend towards the ground. We finally found the tracks and now we just needed the train. Ron flew the car along them.
"Now, all we need to do is catch up with the train." Harry explained.
"We can't be that far behind." I pointed out. We all looked ahead and heard a train whistle. Making us all smile together.
"Do you hear that?" Harry and I asked excitedly.
"We must be getting close." Ron agreed.
The sound of the train chugging got louder and louder, but it was nothing but clear tracks in front of us. This made the three of us gulp and look at each other.
"Hang on." Harry said.
Arwen and Hedwig chirped and their eyes widened. The three of us turned in our seats looking back at the incoming train which was chugging along quickly. It was almost at the back of the car and we all screamed.
"AHH!"
Ron jerked the wheel to the left and the car veered off the tracks. He had pulled so hard that the car was off balance and begun to spin around in the air as it went underneath a bridge for the train. None of us had stopped screaming, and suddenly it got even worse. Just as Ron was about to balance the car, the passenger side door opened and I fell out of it.
"AHH!" I screamed ever harder. I grabbed ahold of the car handle with one hand tightly, desperately trying to reach up and grab with my other hand.
"Ahh, Olivia!" Harry and Ron screamed in fear.
"Hold on!" Ron shouted desperately.
The car tilted to the side even more as they both tried to reach down and grab me. We hovered over the train and the smoke from the pipe filled the air around us.
"Olivia, grab on!" Harry shouted. He tried to reach down for me without falling out himself. I tried to reach up with my other hand but I missed. "Come on, Liv. You can do it."
"Oh, god. This is going to be how I die!" I shrieked. I tried again and grabbed Harry's hand. He tried to pull but he couldn't get me up all the way.
"I need help!" Harry shouted. Ron leaned over farther, with one hand on the steering wheel.
"Hold on, Olivia. Take my hand!" He yelled.
"I'm trying!" I yelled back at him. I let go of the door to try and swing my hand up to Ron's. I grabbed it easily, but then I slipped. Leaving only Harry holding onto the seat and me. "Ahh!" I screamed again.
"You have to keep a hold!" Ron yelled.
"Well, your hands are all sweaty!" I shouted back. "Just pull me up, please!" I cried out.
Ron leaned down more and I swung my arm up, grabbing ahold of his hand. He held mine tightly and I definitely noticed how it made me feel to hold his hand. Specially being in complete danger. I shrugged it off as Harry and Ron both heaved and pulled me back into the car safely. Ron turned the wheel and got the car evened out again. We all sat there breathing heavily.
"I think we found the train." Harry stated sarcastically.
"Yeah." Ron said breathlessly, fear still written all over his face.
"Let's never do this again." I shook my head and leaned back in the seat.
Night time fell as we came across the Hogwarts castle. Harry and I were grinning brightly.
"Welcome home." Ron said.
Suddenly as we though things were finally smooth sailing, the engine seized and made a loud popping sound. The car seemed to have a mind of it's own as it flew all around the castle and then took a deep dive downward.
"Up, Up!" Harry and I called out.
"It's not working!" Ron yelled back. He quickly took out his wand and started banging it on the steering wheel.
"Up! Mind that tree!" Harry shouted. A large tree, known as the whomping willow came into view of the car.
"Ron!" I shouted. He was going to break it.
"Stop, stop, stop!" Ron shouted. And finally his wand did as I thought. It snapped in half, hanging on by a single thread.
"Ahh!" We screamed as the car collided with the top tree roughly.
It finally came to a stop within the naked branches. We breathed heavily, but it wasn't over yet. The car tipped backwards and we all held on for dear life. It crashed down a few more branches and finally truly stopped.
"My wand. Look at my wand..." Ron whimpered.
"Be thankful it's not your neck." Harry sassed.
"I tried to tell you!" I scolded him.
I gasped as a loud thump was heard outside of the car.
"What's happening?" Ron squeaked.
"I don't know." Harry said worriedly.
"Uhm, guys?" I gulped.
A large club looking branch came for the front of the car. We all screamed as it hit the hood over and over again. The car jerked back and forth and more branches started attacking the car. One poked through the back glass almost taking out Harry as he squeezed over towards me. Glass shattered from the windows, in the back, and the front windshield. One big branch groaned as it hit the roof, crushing it in. Another branch hit the back and the car fell forward and we all screamed again. The car bounced on the ground and we all groaned. But, so did the tree.
"Drive!" I screamed seeing the tree lean back to try and hit us again. We'd surely be squashed like bugs if the tree hit us.
"Fast!" Harry shouted.
Ron started the car and drove us out of the way of the giant tree just in time. And as if things couldn't get any worse they did. The passenger side door and the front door opened and the car booted us all out. Harry and I went flying out and to the ground on one side with Ron out the other. It kicked our trunks out and then shoved out our cages. I leapt up catching Arwen and I checked on her. She chirped as if she was signally that she was okay and I sighed in relief. Harry caught Hedwig's cage and Ron caught Scabbers.
"Scabbers. You're okay... The car!" Ron exclaimed. It cranked itself into gear and started to drive off. We ran after it and watched it cross into the Forbidden Forest. "Dad's going to kill me." Ron sighed.
"Come on, let's get into the castle. Maybe we'll have only missed the sorting ceremony." I noted and the boys nodded.
We ran towards the castle with our things, placing them amongst the others.
"See ya, Hedwig."
"I'll let you out soon, Arwen." I bid goodbye to my bird as we began to run up the stairs. "So much for a quiet year, huh, Harry?"
"Yeah." He grumbled annoyed. "First the house elf that shows up in our bedroom, then we can't get through the barrier to platform 9 3/4's. We almost get killed by a tree. Clearly someone really doesn't want us here this year."
After Harry finished ranting we had almost made it to the top of the steps leading into the Great Hall. To our misfortune Mr. Filch was standing before us, petting Mrs. Norris in his arms.
"Well, take a good look, kids. This night might well be the last you spend in this castle." He droned evilly. We looked at each other worriedly. "Ooo, dear, we are in trouble."
Mr. Filch led us all to Professor Snape's classroom and into his office. He was waiting for us and not at the celebration dinner for being back to school. He held up a paper that read a headline of: Flying Ford Anglia Mystifies Muggles.
"You were seen by no less than seven Muggles!" He scolded us harshly and slammed the paper down. "Do you have any idea how serious this is? You three have risked the exposure of our world, not to mention the damage you inflicted on the Whomping Willow that's been on these ground since before you were born."
"Honestly, Professor Snape, I think it did more damage to us." Ron admitted bravely.
"Silence!" Snape yelled. He got out from behind his desk and walked towards us in a threateningly manner. We all backed up as he came closer. "I assure you that were you in Slytherin, and your fates rested with me, the three of you would be on the train home... Tonight." He hissed. He stood up a bit straighter. "As it is..."
"They are not." Dumbledore said as he stood in the office doorway, with Professor McGonagall beside him. They both were looking at us sternly.
"Professor Dumbledore." Harry said.
"Professor McGonagall." I gulped.
"Headmaster, these boys and this girl have flouted the decree for the Restriction of Underage Wizardry. As such..."
"I am well aware of our bylaws, Severus, having written quite a few of them myself." He gave Snape a knowing look and he back down slightly. "However, as Head of Gryffindor House, it is for Professor McGonagall to determine the appropriate action." Dumbledore explained.
"We'll go and get our stuff, then." Ron hung his head as Harry and I did.
"What are you talking about, Mr. Weasley?" Professor McGonagall asked curiously.
"You're going to expel us aren't you?"
"Not today, Mr. Weasley." She gave us a very small smile. We looked at each other surprised and smiled. "But I must impress on the three of you, the seriousness of what you have done. I will be writing to your families tonight, and you will all receive detention."
"And now I suggest that we all return to the feast. There is a delicious looking custard tart that I am most anxious to sample." Dumbledore explained happily. He and Professor McGonagall quickly left the room.
We turned and happen to glance at Professor Snape who was looking at us with pure venom in his eyes. I wasn't all that concerned with the fact that she'd be writing to the Dursley's. They'd probably just be mad the Whomping Willow didn't squish us.
Hermione was the very next to person to scold all of us for what we'd done. She was exceptionally disappointed in me that I didn't try to talk them out of it. Although, I explained I tried too at first, and getting something like that through theirs heads was like trying to pull a brick through a triangle hole. But we were all much more concerned with trying to get to school. Ginny, had been sorted into Gryffindor along with a younger boy named Colin Creevy. He loved photography and was a huge fan of Harry and I. Even though it was a rough journey at least we were finally here. Home.
