Chapter Ten, New Animagi

As Christmas break was rapidly approaching the Marauders had added three more mischief makers to their group. Under Josie's careful and watchful tutelage: Pandora, Marlene and Regulus had all succeeded in becoming Animagi. And just in time too, as they would be leaving for Christmas break the very next day, and wouldn't be able to work on their forms over the break as it was the Potters' turn at hosting the annual Christmas Gala. Regulus would also be moving in with his grandparents Lord Arcturus Black and Lady Melanie Black after he'd written to them about what his mother had been pressuring him to do. To say they were displeased was an understatement. The Blacks bowed to no one. Also during the last month Dumbledore had been tracking down Salazar Slytherin's locket as Josie had a vision of Voldemort wanting to use one of his followers so he could test his protections on where he wanted to hide it.

They had a feeling said followers would not survive the encounter with these protections. Josie was just thankful it wouldn't be Regulus who fell prey to them. At first they had been coming up empty, but Dumbledore assured her he was getting close and wouldn't rest until he had found out where it was hidden and had destroyed it like he had the Diadem. So in the meantime Josie put all her efforts into getting better, studying for her O.W.L.s at the end of the year and helping her friends finish their Animagi transformations.

"Okay, when you're ready, cast the spell to turn into your Animagi forms. It'll be easier this time. Your magic and your body will remember what your form is and the shape of it. The more you do it the easier it'll be." Josie instructed Pandora, Marlene and Regulus. The four of them were practicing in the R.O.R,  while James, Sirius and Remus caused a distraction via pranking so no one would notice the missing students. Once they had succeeded they would join the others out on the grounds for a snowball fight. The three teens took a deep breath and let it out slowly before they cast the spell and transformed. Where her three friends had once stood, there now stood three animals. Where Pandora had once stood now stood a light brown doe with white around her nose, ears and mouth; in Marlene's place now stood a light brown and white Niffler which Haku was looking rather curiously at; and in Regulus's place now stood a Black Dog.

Josie found it rather curious that both Sirius and Regulus had Animagus forms that were portrayed as Death Omens; but also that Pandora had a similar form to James and Marlene was a Niffler. Which portrayed her curious and mischievous personality as she helped bring out the playful side in Remus.
"That's amazing, you guys did it!" Josie exclaimed excitedly. She was feeling more like herself as the days went by. The sessions were really helping her and the fact they were close to finding another Horcrux also helped which meant they were another step closer to ending Voldemort and the war, and she also had another vision last night. A good one: James was married to Pandora and they had a son called Harry and a daughter called Luna who was just under a year younger than Harry. She was so glad that her brother's future had changed. "We just have to think of Marauder names for you and add you to the Map." She continued, as the three walked around the room to get used to their forms more, making noises of agreement.

After another half an hour Marlene, Dora and Regulus turned back into their human forms and donned their winter gear, like Josie, and followed her out onto the Hogwarts grounds where they were ambushed by James, Sirius and Remus throwing snowballs at them.
"YES!!!" The three boys cried when the snowballs struck their targets, attracting the attention of Alice, Frank, Fabian and Gideon who had all been walking on separate parts of the grounds.
"Oh, it's on!" Josie said with a wicked smirk on her face.
"This looks interesting doesn't it brother?" Fabian asked with a mischievous smirk.
"Oh, it does, brother mine." Gideon said with his own smirk. "I think we should separate into teams. Frank and Regulus here, will be with us, Alice can be with Josie and the others. Winner has to get the losers to do anything they want." Gideon said with his own mischievous smirk.

"Deal." Everyone said as they all raced off to gather some protection while making snowballs before a battle ensued. Josie and Marlene shared a wicked smirk before Marlene transformed into her Animagus form to target the boys on the other two teams and no one was any the wiser. As they thought it was only Haku. Suffice to say the girls won. The boys had well and truly been covered in snow by the time they were done and were left in a hot, sweaty mess but they all had smiles on their faces as they forgot about their troubles whatever they might be and just had fun with their friends for the first time in ages.
"So... what prank did you guys pull?" Regulus panted out of breath.
Remus laughed as James and Sirius pouted meaning they got caught and Remus didn't.
"The idiots decided they would include Peeves in their prank and got him to drop Dungbombs all over the school. Only, one ended up on Professor McGonagall as she was leaving her office."

Everyone winced knowing that had not gone over well with the stern Professor.
"Peeves blabbed and told her it was our doing and Remus didn't get caught as he was in a different part of the school." James pouted, making everyone laugh.
"While this was fun, Gideon and I have our own mischief to make. Oh, well done girls wonder what you'll plan for after break. Merry Christmas." Fabian said as he and Gideon walked away whispering to each other about a prank shop.
"Oh! I almost forgot I haven't packed yet! See you later." Alice said, before she tore off for the school with Frank following behind her with a fond smile on his face.
"How long did you get detention for then, brother?" Regulus asked with a smirk.
"Oh, hush." Sirius said, waving his hand at his brother who cackled as Sirius's cheeks tinted lightly. "Did you manage to complete it?" He asked excitedly.

Regulus, Marlene and Pandora shared a look with Josie. Once she checked the coast was clear she nodded and the three transformed into their Animagi forms shocking James, Sirius and Remus before wide smiles appeared on their faces.
"Awesome." James crowed, as he looked at them, although he blushed when he noticed Pandora's form. "Trust you and Sirius to have Death Omens, Reg." He laughed.
"Well done Josie." Remus congratulated, giving her a hug. He was proud of his best friend. She had successfully transformed at thirteen and coached five others through the transformation successfully without any issues.
"Wait a minute." Sirius said, as he looked at Marlene in her Niffler form as realisation hit him. "You cheated!" He exclaimed, pointing from Marlene, to Pandora and finally to Josie. "You little minx!" He shouted and started chasing his love over the grounds. The rest of their friends (who had now transformed back) watched happily as Josie's and Sirius's laughter filled the grounds.
