Peter

12:00!
The group chat I have with Sky, Nat, Anna and Laura rings and I immediately pick up, screaming into the phone at Sky with the other girls.
"Happy birthday!"
"Aw, you guys!" She grinned. "You punctured my ear drums, but thanks nonetheless! I really appreciate that."
"You look tired, what's wrong?" I point out, seeing her droopy eyes. She forces her eyes more open and shifts her camera and glances at something in front of her.
"There's nothing wrong." She smiles reassuringly. "Just putting some last minute touches on your Christmas gifts."
"Girl, it's your birthday and you're giving us gifts?"
"Hey, you're one to talk miss randomly gives us gifts for no reason." Sky laughs. "Plus, it's Christmas!"
"You're gonna hate my gift but I'm still super excited for tomorrow!" Nat exclaims.
"You could literally give me a torn piece of paper and I would cherish it so kindly shut up."
"That was kindly?"
"It was PG." I shake my head as I laugh at their bickering.
"I'm gonna be honest with you guys, I don't know how to skate." I admit.
"Oh thank god, I'm not alone." Anna let out a relieved sigh. "Physical activities are just not my thing."
"Don't worry, I can teach you, it'll be so fun!" Sky exclaims.
"Counting on it, sunshine."
"Oh are we gonna get some hot cokho as well?" Laura asks. For some reason they call hot cocoa hot cokho, and every time I ask why they burst into laughter and none of them are able to speak.
"Hell yeah we are!"
"Hey, everybody smile I'm gonna take a screenshot to post." I say and we all strike a silly pose and we all end up taking screenshots.
"We're hot." Laura says and we laugh, agreeing with her. We say goodbye because we've all had a long day and we're very tired.
I flop down in bed and scroll through my pictures with Sky to post one. Damn, we look really cute together. I choose a picture of us where we're both wearing our denim jackets and I'm hugging her tightly to my chest as I rest my cheek on her head and closed my eyes and she's laughing, a slight blush on her cheeks and nose. I post it to my Instagram story along with the screenshot, captioning it 'Happy birthday, sunshine 💖'
I stare at the photo fondly before I fall into a deep sleep.
The next day
I open my window's curtains once I've changed my clothes to see an overly excited Sky staring back at me, a wide grin on her face.
"Someone's excited." I can't help but grin back at her and she nods.
"This is a rare occasion where I'm excited about my outfit! Lookie!" She twirls and turns back to me, her grin only growing wider as she pulls on the hood of her top, her face hiding in the white fluff around the hood. "It's a sweater, but it's a hoodie. It's a swoodie!" She jumps up and lands, doing jazz hands. I let out a hearty laugh at how adorable she looks in her maroon 'swoodie' with a white rim on the hood, with two balls dangling from the hoodie strings.
"Sky, I think that's a dress." I chuckle, motioning to how long it is. It's not actually her first time wearing tops that go down until her mid thigh or a bit above the knee with pants or leggings.
"You know, that actually makes sense." She chuckles looking down. "I don't get the functionality of winter dresses."
"Neither do I." I agree with her with a smile. "Well, you ready to teach me how to skate?"
"Oh my god I'm gonna die!"
"You're not going to die, Peter." Sky laughed, holding onto both of my hands as she helped me balance on these blades of death. "You're being more dramatic than Laura and Anna combined, and that's saying something."
I narrow my eyes at her and poke my tongue out, making her laugh even more.
"I hate you."
"Nah, you love me." She winks. If only you knew, Sky.
"I'm gonna fall-" I start to slip and fall down, pulling Sky with me. She giggles uncontrollably and stands, helping me up as well.
I'm so happy the girls are going around the rink, taking turns to speak with Anna at our table while Sky is teaching me because they wouldn't let me hear the end of this.
"How do you do this?"
"I've learned skating before riding a bike, so it's easy for me." She smiles and starts to skate backwards, still holding onto my hands. "Just relax your muscles, bend your knees a little and lean a bit forward."
I do as she says but I can still feel myself wobble on the ice. Sky steadies me and lets go of one of my hands as she puts it under my chin and lifts my face up.
"Keep looking at me, don't look down." I stare into her sparkling eyes as she takes my hand again and gives it a quick squeeze, a small smile on her beautiful plump lips. Her nose is red from the cold, and she's too stubborn to wear her coat, so she left it at our table with Anna, who refused to skate with us.
Nat put Sky's hair into a messy top bun so it wouldn't frizz up with the material of her 'Swoodie' and since her hair is very long, it's a big bun. She has small strands of hair going down both sides of her face, and she looks absolutely stunning. She doesn't wear her hair up much, but when she does it's a whole other story.
I follow her instructions and soon I can actually move without fearing for my life. Slowly, she lets go of one hand and turns to my side so we're both skating towards the same direction, and she's no longer skating backwards. My heart races as I look at our intertwined hands. We skate around the rink, catching up to Nat and Laura, who were chatting with Anna on the side.
"Hey would you mind if I skate around quickly and come back?" Sky asks me and I smile at her nodding.
"Show me your moves!"
"Nat?" She turns to her and grins. "Shall we?"
"We shall!"
The two girls get into position, getting ready to speed away on their skates.
"What's happening?" I ask.
"Awesomeness, that's what's happening." Anna says with a smirk, pulling out her phone to film them. "Just watch."
Nat and Sky dash around the rink then turn to the middle of the rink as they circle each other, getting closer with each second. They eventually link their arms together and start spinning faster, they then let go and just hold each others hand as they put more distance between them. Then they let go and start spinning around themselves, they stop spinning, no sign of dizziness at all and skate around like they're drawing with their skates, doing tricks like skating on one leg.
They skate towards us with grins on their faces and we grin back.
"This is the best one you've done yet!" Anna exclaims.
"Yeah, that was awesome!" Laura claps her hands.
"Holy crap!" I shout. "That was insane! How has no one else noticed that? What!? Dude, that was incredible!"
They thank us and laugh lightly, blushing at the compliments. Sky holds out her hand for me to take so we can skate together more. Nat decided to take a break so now Laura is skating beside us.
I ask Laura to take some pictures of me and Sky so I can always look back to this day and remember all the fun we've had. She does that and we continue to skate around.
"Pete!" I hear someone call me. I look to the side, seeing Bri with Eve and Dianna waving at me. "Didn't expect to see you here!"
"Hey, Bri." I smile and wave at the other two girls. Laura skated away by now, but Sky stayed with me, her hand tightly in mine. She smiles at them politely and looks away, not wanting to be a part of this. "What are you guys doing here?"
"Oh just spending some time together before Christmas." She says with a smile.
"Hey, let's skate!" Eve suggests but immediately gets shut down and she frowns, shrugging like it was nothing. "It's just been a long time since I skated...that's all."
"Wait, why not?" Sky asks, turning to the girls. "You love skating."
"Not anymore." She says disappointedly, clearly lying. Sky frowned at that and her eyes softened before she glanced at Bri and her stare hardened again.
"Oh, Sky happy birthday!" Bri exclaimed leaning over to hug her but she backed away and just smiled at her, thanking her quickly.
"By the way, Peter." She turned to me. "I got you that internship!"
"Wait seriously?" I ask excitedly and she nods. "Bri, that's awesome! Thank you so much!"
"Oh it was nothing." She waved it off.
"Peter, I'm so proud of you!" Sky squeezed my hand, grinning up at me.
"Thanks, babe." I blush at her gaze. "Well, we have to go, thanks again Bri. Bye guys." I say and try to skate away to our friends, so we can exchange gifts and celebrate Sky.
"Eve, you can always join us if you want." Sky smiled at the raven haired girl. "We'll probably still be skating for the next hour."
Eve nods, a ghost of a smile on her lips as she turns away with the rest of the girls. I furrow my eyebrows at Sky, confused as to why she invited Eve to skate with us when she hates her.
"What was that?"
"Nothing." She shrugged. "Dude, you got an internship!"
"Hey, don't turn this around, today is all about you!"
"Whaaa, me? pffttt..." She blushes and looks away making em laugh and pull her closer to me We skate to the exit and wobble towards our table where everyone was waiting for us. We sit down and sip on the hot cocoa Anna bought us.
"Here's to hot cokho!" Sky lifts her mug and we dink our mugs with hers. "And to Peter's internship!"
"And the actual reason we're here-" I get cut off by Sky.
"Christmas!"
"No," I point at her. "Your birthday, damn it!"
"Yeah that too, I guess." Nat pinched her and she yelped and pout at her. "Ouch?"
"Okay okay, everyone shut up, let's do gifts. I want to be the last one." Anna says.
"I'll go first!" Sky exclaims and takes out four rolls of paper from her bag and hands them to us, each one had our name on them. She bit her lip as she watched us open them.
I open mine and let out a gasp at the beautiful portrait. She drew me and my camera and damn did she do a great job. This looks freaking amazing!
The girls scream seeing their drawings and show each other excitedly, thanking Sky a million times. She just laughs and blushes, relief washing over her.
"What did you get, Peter?"
I turn the drawing to them, a blush on my own face. The girls' jaws drop as they look at Sky in amazement, not believing she drew this.
"It's not that great but I guess it could've been worse." She says shyly.
"Sky this is the definition of perfect!" I exclaim, staring at her in awe and she blushes, even more when the girls smirk at us. "I'm hanging this on my wall, I love it so much!"
We exchange the rest of the Christmas gifts until it's time to give Sky her birthday gifts. I didn't bring her Christmas gift here, so I could give it to her at the party tonight. I got some candy, cologne and a book.
Nat and Laura give Sky their gifts first and she loves everything they gave her to the point where she almost actually cried. They gave her a DIY notebook from the show 'Gravity falls' with lots of drawings, crypts and mysteries inside it, a Spiderman themed Dr. Pepper, some temporary tattoos, a bow, a necklace put into a tiny jar which makes it look magical, and a batman figurine.
"This is your simple?" She exclaims looking at them with a grin. "I seriously can't thank you enough!"
Next was me, so I took out the velvet box and handed it to her nervously, a blush rising to my cheeks. She opened it and gasped, pulling it out to admire it.
"This is beautiful!" She says in awe. "And expensive af, Peter you didn't have to do this."
"I wanted to." I smile at her. "It's not much, really. I chose the charms for you; the spiderman logo is obvious, the book is because you're a great writer, a star because you love astronomy, a snowflake because you're just as unique, the microphone is for our first date, and the sun is because you're my sunshine."
"Even I wanna cry at how cute this is." Nat jokes.
"Peter, I don't know what to say..." She says looking into my eyes and pulling me into a tight hug. "Thank you so much, I'm never taking it off."
I hold her closely, breathing in the scent of her floral perfume, trying to ignore my racing heart, which is impossible.
"As sweet as this is, it's my turn now!" Anna squeals and we pull away, sharing one last smile before she turns to Anna while wearing her charm bracelet, which I help her with because she had some trouble with it.
"Jesus, do my threats mean nothing to you guys?" She narrows her eyes at us once she sees the full bag of presents. Anna had gotten her a book she's been wanting for a while, two candles, a nail polish, Spiderman playing cards, a Spiderman funko pop, a basket full of dry rose petals with accessories hidden in there; like a purple skull bracelet, some earrings and two star rings, as well as a black heart necklace.
"I will be thanking you forever, just a head up." She grins at us all. "You guys are seriously the best!"
"You've been thanking us since October."
"And it'll continue."
"Thank us one more time and you're dead."
"Aw, love you too!"
Sky
It's party time!
The Thompsons are over at our house and we're all gathered by our Christmas tree in our living room. The adults are chatting about whatever while Peter and I are talking to each other.
"I love how you and your dad are matching." He says with a chuckle and I laugh too.
"Yeah we always do this." I smile. "Team Woods, you know?"
"We stan." He laughs and I giggle.
My mom brings out the cakes and we start taking lots of pictures; some with me and my dad, some with my family, some with both families and so on. I got some pictures with just Peter as well, and of course we got teased by our families who all seem to want us to be together.
Oh if only they knew...
I pull Peter away once everyone is engaged into another conversation I'm not interested in and we go up to my room. I look in my drawer to find the other gift I have for Peter and finally come across it.
"I kinda got you another gift." We both say at the same time when I face him, both of us holding things in our hands. "Jinks!"
"Double jinks!" We burst out laughing and fall to the ground. Laughing is my one true weakness.
"I'll go first." I smile and hand him a mixtape and a USB. "I put on my favorite songs and some songs that could be...our songs, you know? I wasn't sure if you have anything to use the mixtape so I put them on the USB as well."
"Sky, I love this." He grins at me. "I'll make sure to listen to them all, and we really should pick out our song."
"Yeah, we should." I smile and we end up staring at each other again, forgetting the world around us. He snaps out of it and blushes, handing me a box. I open it and see a snow globe with penguins inside of it, and it lights up! I feel a piece of folded paper under it, and I turn it upside down, seeing a folded note.
'To my Sunshine, from your teddy bear.'
"I love this, do I read this now or later?"
"Uhh, Later would be better." He scratches the back of his neck cutely. I smile and place the snow globe next to the jar of notes he gave me on my bookshelf, which is getting seriously crowded and messy. "Let's head down before they think we're up to no good."
I quickly grab the gifts I got for Meg and Kat and followed Peter down to where our families are to continue our amazing night, and watch some Christmas movies.
"I vote The Nightmare before Christmas, because I am indeed the nightmare before Christmas." I joke and my dad puts a hand on his heart in mock offense.
"What does that make me, young lady?"
"...uhhh." I shrug with a sheepish smile. "Santa Claws?"
Everyone laughed and we got settled up to watch Home Alone, because there's nothing more classic than that. I sit next to Peter and cuddle up to his side, not even caring that my brother will tease me for it. Peter puts an arm around my shoulder as I rest my head on his shoulder and smile contently, not noticing the look of adoration directed towards me.
For the record, I'm trademarking Swoodie, because it's a thing and I love the name lol.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter, even tho not much happened, I feel like I'm getting lazy with writing just because I wanna finish it before my senior year starts lmao
Please vote and comment!
Thank you so much for reading!
