[RECAP]:

"You ready?" she montioned to the variety of makeup lined up on a table.

"I was born ready."

"Let's do this." I replied back throwing my purse onto the bed and sitting down into an awaiting chair.

"Alrighty." Maddy responded and got right to work.

*

"Wow...." I gasped looking at my reflection in the mirror.

"I did good." Maddy said as well.

I gave her a quick glare before clapping my hands together, "Dress time."

I headed to the bathroom, slipping out of my clothes. I slipped on the yellow dress from the bottom up, securing the straps onto my shoulder. Then headed back to the room grabbing some blue pumps.

"I'm ready to go" I said excitedly.

"Alright, GOOOOOO! And kiss plenty of men for me!" She shoved me out of the room and out of the apartment.

"Alright Mom." I said rolling my eyes.

"Call me if you need anything sweetie! Curfew is till 12 midnight. See ya later alligator." She shifted on her feet, glancing behind me.

Then she was gone.

"Interesting." A voice said, coming from behind me.

I jumped, turning around me and put a frantic hand to my heart. His eyes leisurely swept up and down my body.

Eyes up here doofus.

"You look nice." he said.

"Thanks." My cheeks warmed slightly as I took in his appearance.

He was wearing an all black suit, with a white dress shirt inside, leaving a few buttons open, but more than enough for the imagination, if you know what I mean. A voice interrupted me out of my thoughts.

"Take a picture it'll last longer" he smirked when he caught my eye. I quickly looked away noticing a black limo pull up to the curb.

"Is that our ride?" I asked looking at it in awe.

"Yes." he answered curtly opening the door for me.

"Thanks." I muttered quietly stepping into the car. I arranged my dress, holding it in my hand so Mr.Collins can slip inside.

Closing the door behind him, he sent me a quick glance before giving the driver a quick nod.

Soon we were off.

*

As the car enveloped in deep silence my fingers drumming against my thighs in anticipation and nervousness at the same time. I looked out the window my eyes flittering from passing objects.

Continuing to drum my fingers against my thighs I began to fidget, bouncing my leg up and down.

"Would you stop!" Mr.Collins barked.

I flinched, immediately withdrawing my hands into my lap. Out of the corner of eye, I see him scooting towards me, I immediately tensed up leaning further into the door.

"Hey," I heard Mr.Collins whisper, "I'm sorry," he licked his lips before continuing, "I didn't mean it. I'm..."  he trailed off, rubbing hisHE hands through his silky hair before continuing, "I'm just nervous."

You and me both.

I quickly changed the topic saying, "Why did you want me to go with you? To the gala?"

"That's actually what I wanted to tell you. You see I want you to be my pretend girlfriend."

"WHAT?! PRETEND GIRLFRIEND?!" I screamed at him in disbelief. In an attempt to calm me down, he put his hands in front of himself, reaching out to touch me, I immediately slapped his hands away.

Scowling he swiftly pulled up the privacy screen before turning to me and pronouncing each word slowly, "Did...I... stutter?"

I scowled back at him, "I'm trying to figure out would crawled up your butt and died and what you could have possibly ate because look like someone snuck some leeches into there and you ate it causing the way you are acting right now as if you are some mental deranged patient that escaped from the hospital and is on steroids looking like an ugly rhino, no probably a donkey, because I like rhinos, you probably speak donkey language, probably saying HEEEEE HAWWW whenever you get the chance."

Then my face lit up in embarrassment from the rant that had escaped from my very own lips. Hiding my face behind my hair, I heard Mr.Collins chuckling deeply, when I turned to look at him again it looked like he had tears in his eyes.

"Hardy har har." I said sarcastically.

When I looked out the window I had noticed the car had stopped, and we were parked outside Shipley's.

"Why did we stop?" I asked, Mr.Collins was still deep in laughter.

"Oh my God. That was too funny. What was that you said..oh...HEEEEE HAWWW." he started laughing again.

"Answer my question you silly donkey." I retorted almost angrily.

His chuckling stopped soon after, "You need to say that every day. That's the best thing I heard all day."

I did not reply and simply stared at him, waiting for a response.

"Alright, Alright but first let's go in." he said smirking, yet there were clear crinkles next to his eyes showing he was going to burst out laughing any second.

"But...what about the party?" I asked hesitantly

"There's a thing called being fashionably late, cupcake." He winked grabbing my hand and pulling me out of the car.

We headed inside the store, my nose immediately wafted the smell of delicious donuts. My eyes excitedly scanned the variety of donuts, pressing my hand against the glass.

I looked up, to see Mr.Collins already looking at me, smiling lightly. His eyes seemed to be searching through me, until a clear cough interrupted us.

I jumped back slightly, still noticing that Mr.Collins was holding my hands, I looked down, his thumb rubbing against my hand. I smiled lightly, before tuning myself in to the conversation.

"So what would you like to order today?" the person asked.

"I would like to take a glazed donut, some buttermilk cake and some coffee." Mr.Collins said.

I looked quickly at the menu before deciding, "I would like to take....the glazed donut, a plain sausage kolache, and apple juice."

"Alright, go ahead and sit down and we will be ready with your order." the person smiled, writing the orders down and heading to the back.

We smiled back at him, saying "Thank you" as well.

Mr.Collins pulled my hand, tugging me along behind him as he found a booth to sit in.

"So...about this girlfriend thing." I trailed off my other hand tracing circles on the table.

Mr.Collins removed his hands from mine, grabbing a fork he stabbed it into his buttermilk cake. "Yeah...the girlfriend thing, I just need you to pretend for tonight. I...I promised my parents that I would bring my girlfriend to the ball."

Interesting.

He continued after taking a bite from his cake, "Which is why you have to be my fake girlfriend."

"But why me?" I asked curiously.

"Why not you?" he said back, staring into my eyes.

I shifted my eyes away, instead focusing on my kolache. I took a bit and was instantly in heaven, "Mmmmmm" I moaned, I closed my eyes chewing slowly, finishing off the kolache in two bites.

When I opened my eyes I found Mr.Collins heated gaze on me. Heat instantly rushed to my cheeks, and I averted my gaze again, picking up the glazed donut.

I bit slowly into it, this time keeping my sounds to myself, and I watched Mr.Collins eat, the cake was crumbling around his lips as he put fork after fork into his mouth. I giggled softly biting again into my donut, and soon I was finished. I took a downed the apple juice, getting up to throw the paper cup in the trash can.

When I came back, Mr.Collins was finishing his meal as well, and when he noticed me come back to the table, he pushed his aside, clasping his hands in front of him.

"There are some conditions we need to enforce for this 'Fake-Girlfriend' thing to work." he said seriously.

"Ok...What are they?" I asked curiously.

"1. You have to call me by my first name, but at work I'm Mr.Collins; 2. Once we leave this store we have to assume boyfriend-girlfriend duties, which includes: holding hands, kissing—

"Kissing." I spluttered.

"Yes kissing." He tilted his head, staring curiously at me.

"Is there a problem with kissing." He asked.

I leaned closer to him, "I haven't even had my first kiss yet."

"Oh." He came to the realization, probably remembering the last encounter he had.

"Yeah, oh." I retorted sarcastically.

A red tint immediately flushed his cheeks, he continued on, "3. You keep up the act at all times, no matter who we are around. 4. You never ever leave my side.

I nodded my head, reviewing the terms in my head. "Okay."

"Okay?" he said in disbelief?

I nodded my head and said, "I agree with your terms."

He grinned grabbing my hand, and leaving a large sum of money on the table, "What do you say we give those people at the ball a show?"

I smiled lightly, "Absolutely."
