GymLeader Damian (Battle)

Damian's gym was huge!

I've battled in gyms before, yes, and I get that being a notorious name would make me all cool and stuff because I'm cool and stuff. But this guy outdid me by a landslide! Literally! His gym was a freaking mountain! A mountain indoors! A freaking mountain, with rocks and terrain and all that crap... Indoors!

Now, I know I should've stayed cool and calm for Jason, but my mouth couldn't fight back the drool that flowed from it. "This place is-"

"Nothing compared to what it'll be a few weeks from now," Damian said proudly but innocently. He turned on the spot, on a rock, facing me and the dark-skinned boy I had beside me. Those unclean thoughts deterred my mind from what Damian was doing. He had called a whole bunch of ground type Pokemon to surround him. They all smiled and snuggled him, and one even tingled his crotch. Nah, I must've been seeing things, Damian's a cool guy. He's not into bestiality. "So, who's first?" Damian asked, shooing the excess Pokemon. I looked at Jason to see what he'd say, but he just stood there, holding Poliwag's Pokeball, Snivey sitting on his shoulder. "Jason?" I said, "d'you wanna go first, man?" I asked, patting his shoulder in a genuinely friendly way. Jason looked over at me, his brown eyes barely closing when he blinked, his mouth seemed unable to close too. He was that sort of nervous.

"Sean, our Pokedexes say that our Pokemon are not capable of defeating Damian," He said innocently and worriedly. It was true, our Pokedexes did the weird boot up thing on the way over the Gym and it said we weren't ready. But I'm always ready, I'm defeating the odds right now by using lower-level Pokemon of ineffective type. It's just Jason I'm worried for.

"Listen, Jason, you're a hand up in this match, a grass and a water-type Pokemon. You're sure to win." I smiled, and he loosened up a bit. He smiled back at me, and the thoughts came back. No wait, these were different, they were subtle beautiful thoughts. And I didn't want to fight them. I softly rubbed his shoulder, wanting to comfort a bit more.

"I'm up first," Jason said mustering up bravery.

"Very well then," Damian said standing in a ready position. "Come onto the mound, opposite to me." Jason did as he was told. They were standing a good distance from each other on the mountain of a battlefield.

A monitor swung out of the wall behind Damian, and a woman's upper body was shown. That was cool. "First challenger Jason Shores up against GymLeader Damian. Begin!" The woman yelled.

Damian wasted no time.
Damian: "Go Geodude!" Geodude levitated out of the Pokeball with a huge frown. A mad look... A gruff look... Something along those lines.
Damian: "Geodude use Rock Throw!"
Geodude heaped up huge amounts of rocks together and threw them with surprising strength.

Jason: "Snivey, dodge those things." But Snivey was too slow to dodge the attack and took a hard hit. Snivey moved from under the rubble and shook it off. After all, he was resistant to it. But for how much longer?

Jason: "Its okay Snivey, shake it off. Go ahead and use Vine Whip!"
Snivey grunted and sped over to Geodude that was now beating its head with its arms. Snivey's vines sprung out and stung Geodude in the face, causing it to wince. "Alright, Snivey!" Jason cheered. Snivey repeating the action without command, causing the Geodude to faint.
Damian stood, almost apprehensive of Jason. He knew quite well that grass-types pummel rock-types any day, he just wanted to believe that he was a strong trainer. Good luck with that!
I held back a laugh as Damian took out his second and last Pokemon. Gym rules. The GymLeader isn't allowed to use more Pokemon than the challenger has.

Damian: "Steelix, we got a fighter. Come out!"
Steelix made its way out of the Premier Ball and reared its giant stony head that spun atop a collection of snake-like rocks below it. The giant Pokemon snarled at Snivey, and even I could feel the intimidation.

Jason: "Don't be afraid Snivey, I've got an idea. Quick before time runs out, tackle and then vine whip from above!"
Snivey followed immediately. How? I don't know. I looked around the rocky terrain and the green plant-like creature, but it was nowhere in sight.

Damian: Hiding are we? Steelix, Dig!
Steelix started spinning super fast and then drilled itself into the ground out of sight.

Tension grew as the two trainers stood silently, anticipating the other.

I looked around again, but Snivey was nowhere.

A trembling cane from beneath, shaking the dusty atmosphere, raising the thickness of the air.

I guess Steelix was returning from its fruitless attack. It came up super powerful, power streaking through its rugged, cracked body. When it rose, it looked around as if it was lost. It might as well have been. I didn't know where Snivey was, that big boulder wouldn't either. It was underground for crying out loud. Damian was obviously uneasy, searching around just as helplessly as Steelix was.

Jason: "Amazing! Now!"
Snivey appeared from out of thin air and lashed Steelix's armour-clad body with an astonishing force. A force that was similar to... A tackle! Jason made Snivey combine attacks! Amazing! The force and power knocked Steelix right unto the ground.
Jason: "Come back Snivey, amazing performance. Poliwag, come on out!" The red and white Pokeball released Poliwag, and Jason didn't hesitate to attack. Jason: "Poliwag, Water Gun... Barrage!"

I've never heard that move before, it must have been something else Jason thought of. Whatever it was, it was working like a charm. The multiple hits caused Steelix to flinch at every impact. Steelix succumbed to the damage and fainted at Poliwag's little feet. Jason, stood, half dumbstruck, half proud.

"Why, I've never been beaten by such low levelled Pokemon before. Amazing!" Damian marvelled at the water-type before his massive beast of a Pokemon. "Here you go, the WiseBadge."

Jason fainted. I sighed.
