"the house of industry," as they are the center of trade and manufacturing in paladen. they tend to stay out of any major political decisions but are strong allies with 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧 and 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐫. they are most infamous for their dreaded bonety assassins, named for their tendency to keep only the bones and teeth of their hunted. beware - if you have a price on your head, they are sure to be lurking...

𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐡,
the lions

"the house of courage," as they make up nearly ninety percent of paladen's army. they are not known for their wit and cleverness, more so for their brute force and impulsive decisions. citizens of 𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐡 prioritize strength and health over education and learning. perhaps one of their better features is their skilled weapon-wielding - at the age of twelve, each citizen picks a weapon to train in.

𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧,
the dragons

"the house of justice," as they are the main political influencers in paladen. they are known for their complex judicial system and brutal law enforcement. common thieves are hard to find here, as the punishment for stealing is execution. you'll find it hard to speak your mind here, as saying the wrong thing will get you killed. recently, 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧's prized dragon eggs have gone missing, though no one has been able to find the culprit...

𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐧,
the horses

"the house of independence," the only region of paladen to have a democracy over a monarchy. they value each citizen's free thought and hold regular votes in the city square. each member of 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐧 is encouraged to speak their mind, much to the dismay of the other houses. they are often shunned for their new ways of thinking and ideals, and are sworn enemies with 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡. they just can't seem to keep their mouths shut...

𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡,
the snakes

 "the house of lies," though they prefer the term "the house of ambition." they are known for their sharp tongues and ability to twist the truth. they have famous storytellers, called 𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐤𝐚, who spin tales for the public with elaborate sets and props. they remain among the most popular destinations in paladin, as they are known for their breweries and taverns. everyone in 𝐧𝐨𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡 can hold their liquor well, though you couldn't say the same for the other houses...

𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧,
the bears

"the house of leadership," as they are fiercely devoted to their cause and are the most likely to one day take the throne. citizens of 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧 are often self-centered and manipulative, willing to do anything for power. they are taught to think only of themselves and 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧 has the highest bullying rate of any of the twelve kingdoms. they form very few alliances, not wanting the other houses to get in their way on their quest for power.

𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐚,
the deer

"the house of old," as they are the least-modernized city in paladin. they have some of the most rural villages in paladin, mostly spread out through the forests. they are trained rigorously in target shooting and obstacle courses from a young age, prioritizing survival over anything else. most of this region is covered in woodlands, so 𝐜𝐚𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐚's citizens are all skilled in tree-climbing. they are sometimes referred to as "the house of artemis" for their many resemblances to the greek goddess.

𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐬,
the doves

"the house of love," as they are the most de rigueur of all the houses. they are famous for their extensive jewelry and makeup stores, and are awed for their beautiful buildings. 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐬 is nothing less than perfect, and the same standard is expected for their citizens. these high standards lead to a high rate of citizens escaping across the border to 𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧, where almost ten percent of the population is runaway 𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐬es.

𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐫,
the tigers

"the house of stone," as they are rigid in their unmerciful ways. 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐫 is old-fashioned in the way that they still believe in oppressing whoever they consider "lesser." they are steadfast in their beliefs and do not listen to any of the other houses. their leaders are assassinated every few years, giving them a highly unreliable source of power. 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐫 is often regarded as one of the more unstable houses.

𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐮,
the pheonix

"the house of magic," as they are the guardians of the mythical phoenix. citizens of 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐮 tend to keep to themselves, they don't let many outsiders in for fear that 𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐲𝐨, the great pheonix and the heart of paladen, will be killed. 𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐲𝐨 is the protector of the land, and in turn the citizens of 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐮 protect them. every hundred years, a child is born connected to the spirit of 𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐲𝐨. the current child is seventeen years old...

𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧,
the owls

"the house of wisdom," as they control paladen's treasury. 𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧's citizens are known for being quick thinkers and inventors. some choose to take scholarships in 𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢 to learn a trade. they are the northernmost region and therefore the coldest, most of them go months without seeing the ground covered in snow. most of the other houses can't handle the cold, therefore 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧 has the second lowest tourist rate, only the lowest tourist rate goes to...

and 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚,
the scorpions

"the house of death." this is a desert region, and practically everything about them is shrouded in mystery. they have a zero percent tourist rate as no one visits. although they border 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐡, 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧, 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡, and 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐫, each house prefers to travel around xecia via sea or 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡. many rumors have spread about this mysterious house, most having to do with the death of the royal family...
