Chapter 3
15th May, afternoon
It was a few minutes before the little girl had to get on the flight to Asia, and she had gone to the little boy's house to say goodbye.
His home was as simple as he was: a small brick house with a small backyard and a small family. The windows were wide open, the door was wooden and painted grey. It felt haunted in a way, but the boy's family wasn't wealthy, and this was all they could get.
The two looked at each other under the stare of their parents. The girl's mom at her side, cheap suitcase in hand, and the little boy's father, on his side, a rusty napkin in hand.
Their mother had died giving birth to him, so they were a reserved family, no one ever knew what went on in that house of theirs. Haunted, I might add.
She looked into his eyes. I love you, she said with her eyes. He responded the same. "Go on, say goodbye," her mother urged on.
The plain little girl was never good with words. She just made it seem like a littered waterfall when words spilled out of her mouth. But with him, everything was different.
"Goodbye!" she exclaimed giddily. As much as she was going to miss him, her flight to Asia had excited her a lot.
"Goodbye," he told her, his voice sad. She hated that. The plain little boy couldn't be sad, not around her at least. So she did what seemed appropriate for the situation: she hugged him. He hugged her back and they quickly pulled away in case suspicion aroused the adults.
She and her mom quickly turned around and got on their bicycles and rode away to the airport, without a glimpse at the sky. The boy and his father had returned into their home, not giving a single glance at that sky.
If they had, they would've seen it. What am I talking about, you may ask? Well, I'm talking about something that might as well wash away the whole town. It's called a hurricane, my fellow reader. Yes, a hurricane. And it came.
