Man Taken to Prison, Son Escapes Refuge
By: J.B. Barrington
Antonio Higgins, a nine-year-old boy, was at home with his father when he heard a crash. He watched with wide eyes as his father, thirty-four-year-old George Higgins, threw a beer bottle at his grandmother.
Seventy-year-old Rosana Fontana went to the home to try to get custody of her nine-year-old grandson, so he'd no longer live with his abusive father.
After an argument arose between Fontana and Higgins, Higgins - who was extremely drunk - threw an empty beer bottle he held in his hand at Fontana.
Fontana covered her grandson from the bottle, resulting in the bottle hitting her in the head. Paramedics said she was dead before they arrived at the hospital.
George Higgins was sentenced to thirty years in prison for child neglect, child abuse, and murder.
After getting treatment for the injuries he suffered from his father's abuse, nine-year-old Antonio was taken to the Refuge due to the fact that he had no more living family members. His mother, Carina Higgins, passed away when he was barely six-years-old.
However, after living in the Refuge for just over seven months, Antonio managed to escape.
The warden, Snyder, is looking for him, and asks for people to be on the lookout for a ten-year-old with dirty-blonde, curly hair, bright blue eyes, scars all over him, and a slim, small body. He was last seen wearing a hospital gown, after a recent trip to the hospital when he hurt himself.
"I'll do anything to make sure Antonio is safe and back in the Refuge," Snyder said when he was interviewed. "After all, the streets are no place for a kid. He'd be much better where he can get food and warmth, with me."
If you find ten-year-old Antonio Higgins, bring him to the police or to the Refuge.

I know the names are bad, but I haven't put that much thought into them lol (which is a slight lie, but it's complicated lol).
Also, Race's age in the book (for all of the current-day chapters and not the newspaper chapter) is 15.
