Vaudeville Star Takes in Orphan
By: Elsie Brooks
Medda Larkin is a Vaudeville Star, who now owns her own theater, where her show runs most nights. Her show is doing extremely well (see page 3 for a written review of the show).
(A/N, Stage did not word this first paragraph well, so I'm sorry.)
On Tuesday night, Larkin was seen entering the Manhattan hospital. When she left, she was accompanied by a kid.
After being interviewed, Larkin explained that the child she was with was her newly adopted son.
Kenny Montgomery became an orphan at a very young age and lived in an orphanage, up until recently when he became too sick for the owners of the orphanage to continue to take care of him.
Montgomery was sent to the hospital, where he was for a few weeks when Larkin found out about him. She'd heard about the boy from someone who helped out with the backdrops for her show, so she went to meet him.
Witnesses say that when Larkin met Montgomery, they instantly bonded, and Larkin decided to take Montgomery in so he could get the support he needs for his illnesses.
Larkin did not disclose what the illnesses are, but she mentioned that she was very excited to have Kenny staying with her and that she was very fond of him and loved him like a son already.
Kenny Montgomery was not able to be interviewed at the time that Larkin was interviewed, but the nurse who took care of him was.
"Kenny's a good boy, really sweet," the nurse said. "I'm glad he found someone who can help him and who loves him, even if it's crazy that the person turned out to be Medda Larkin," she explained with a chuckle. "I'm glad though, they're happy."
(336 Words)
