Family-Owned Restaurant Burns to Ground
By: J.B. Barrington
The Lower Manhattan fire department was called to a tragic scene on Monday morning.
The Butlers Bakery, a restaurant in Lower Manhattan, burnt to the ground.
The Butlers Bakery is a family-owned restaurant that was been up and running for almost twenty years before the incident on Monday morning.
It was started by Angelica Butler and was recently passed down to her daughter, Amalia Butler, when she passed away earlier this year.
The Butlers Bakery has been known for their delicious sandwiches, along with all of the desserts that they sell. Despite the name of the restaurant, they are not just a bakery.
The fire department is unclear about how the fire started. They believe that the heat and humidity had something to do with how fast the fire spread.
The restaurant was almost entirely burnt down by the time that they got to it, and barely any of it remains standing now.
Only one member of the family made it out alive. Ten-year-old Henry Butler, Amalia's only son, was taken to the hospital for the severe burns on his body from the fire.
Doctors say he is alive and stable, and on track to make a full recovery.
As for his parents, their funeral is on Thursday at the St. Peter's Cemetery in Lower Manhattan at 10:00 a.m.
(270 Words)
Henry's age in the book (for all of the current-day chapters and not the newspaper chapter) is 17.
