Chapter 9

Chess_Cat here, back with another chapter. Thank god I had a completely free day to work on this. But don't expect the next chapters to come out as fast this one. Anyway, onwards with the fanfic!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dipper's POV
Thank god. I messed with the trio's heads enough to make them not really caring about the incident anymore. Note to self: Never let Bill handle anything ever again.
HEY!
What? Got a problem with that? I mentally snapped back at him.
Yes! I do have a problem with that!
"Well, maybe next time you should stop making people feel suspicious about us! You almost blown our fucking cover! The only things you should be blowing & breaking are the devices of people who randomly joined YandereChips & the fourth wall!"
"So, what subjects are you taking, Mason?" Hermione suddenly asked.
"I'm taking Divination, Care for Magical Creatures & Ancient Runes. And the subjects that you have to learn, of course." I replied.
"Have you seen the book for Care for Magical Creatures!? That thing is literally a monster!" Ron exclaimed.
"Yeah... I remember the face of the store keeper when he has to take one of those..." Harry said.
"I know! It's pure gold!" Ron exclaimed.
"The book was agressive at first but it's pretty sweet and once you tame it." I said.
"Wait, you actually tame that thing?" Ron asked.
"Yeah. I got a couple cuts and bruises from it. The book took way longer to tame than I expected." I said. "Even longer than Seedy..." I whispered, remembering a certain child-eating bird-lion-something thing. (A/N: SeedEater)
"Um... Hey, listen." I said. "Will you guys be my friends? I never had any human friends before..." I said.
"Oh, you poor thing!" Hermit Crab said with a sad expression on her face. "Of course we will!"
"Sure." Lightning said.
"OK. Why not?" Weasel said.
"Thanks..." I replied & smile back at them.
I looked out of the window. The rain thickened as the train sped yet farther north; the windows were now a solid, shimmering gray, which gradually darkened until lanterns flickered into life all along the corridors and over the luggage racks. The train rattled, the rain hammered, the wind roared, but still, Professor Lupin slept.
"We must be nearly there." Ron said, leaning forward to look past Professor Lupin at the now completely black window.
The words had hardly left him when the train started to slow down.
"Great," said Ron, getting up and walking carefully past Professor Lupin to try and see outside. "I'm starving. I want to get to the feast..."
"We can't be there yet," said Hermione, checking her watch.
"So why're we stopping?"
"Does this train stop so other people can get on mid-journey like some others?" I asked.
"No. Not normally..." Hermione said, clearly worried.
The train kept slowing down until it stopped with a jolt. Distand 'thuds' & 'bang' told us that luggage had fallen out of the tracks. Then, without any warning what so ever, the lights went out, leaving us in complete darkness. The compartment seemed to be a bit in chaos as we trip over each other, hit each other and yelled at each other. The situation wasn't any brighter, pun not intended, when two other students, whom the trio refered as Neville & Ginny, came in & join the 'fun'.
"Quiet!" said a hoarse voice suddenly.
Professor Lupin appeared to have woken up at last. I could hear movements in his corner.
None of us spoke.
There was a soft, crackling noise, and a shivering light filled the compartment. Professor Lupin appeared to be holding a handful of flames. They illuminated his tired, gray face, but his eyes looked alert and wary.
"Stay where you are." he said in the same hoarse voice, and he got slowly to his feet with his handful of fire held out in front of him.
Why isn't he using Lumos? I mentally asked.
J-Just precautions, I think. Some creatures ARE scared of fire...
Guess you're right.
Then, the door slid slowly open before (probably hot) werewolf Professor could react.
Standing in the doorway, illuminated by the shivering flames in Lupin's hand, was a cloaked figure that towered to the ceiling. Its face was completely hidden beneath its hood. There was a hand protruding from the cloak and it was glistening, grayish, slimy-looking, and scabbed, like something dead that had decayed in water....
But it was visible only for a split second. As though the creature beneath the cloak sensed our gazes, the hand was suddenly withdrawn into the folds of its black cloak.
And then the thing beneath the hood, whatever it was, drew a long, slow, rattling breath, as though it were trying to suck something more than air from its surroundings. An intense cold swept us all.
Oh lord! I can't believe this! Something actually made me more uncomfortable than Bill did! Is this even real!? What is this madness? I mentally said.
I heard that!
You were supposed to.
I turn to Harry to see that his eyes had rolled up into his head & his life force was being sucked away. This thing is definitely strong but definitely not as strong as the Ciphers & me in my demon form but I can't risk it. I have to think of something fast. I can't just let one of my first human friends to die.
Moony's POV
I took out my wand. I have to stop that thing. I can't let Prongs's son die here.
But, before I could do anything, a brunet boy pulled out his wand while everyone else was panicking, pointed it at the Dementor & said in a cold voice:
"Avada Kedavra."
A bright green light came out of his wand & hit the Dementor but the Dementor barely flinched.
"Well fuck you too!" The boy said, frustrated.
"None of us is hiding Sirius Black under our cloaks. Go." I said but, seeing that the Dementor still wouldn't move, I muttered "Expecto Patronum!" & a white wolf along with a white fog came out of my wand, scaring the Dementor away.
"Harry! Harry! Are you all right?" A redhead said while slapping Harry.
"W-What?" Harry opened his eyes, a bit confused.
The redhead & a brunette girl heave Harry back onto his seat.
"Are you OK?" The redhead asked, worried.
"Yeah."Harry said, looking quickly toward the door. "What happened? Where's that... that thing? Who screamed?"
"No one screamed." The redhead said, more nervously.
Dipper's POV
"No one screamed." Ron said, more nervously.
Harry looked around the bright compartment. Ginny and Neville looked back at him, both very pale.
"But I heard screaming..."
A loud snap made us all jump. Professor Lupin was breaking an enormous slab of chocolate into pieces.
"Here," he said to Harry, handing him a particularly large piece. "Eat it. It'll help."
Harry took the chocolate but didn't eat it.
"What was that thing?" he asked Lupin.
"A Dementor," said Lupin, who was now giving chocolate to everyone else. "One of the Dementors of Azkaban."
Everyone stared at him. Professor Lupin crumpled up the empty chocolate wrapper and put it in his pocket while I ate my piece. I felt warmth spread suddenly to the tips of my fingers and toes.
"Eat." he repeated. "It'll help. I need to speak to the driver, excuse me..."
He strolled past Harry and disappeared into the corridor.
"Are you sure you're okay, Harry?" Hermione said, watching Harry anxiously.
"I don't get it ... what happened?" Harry said, wiping more sweat off his face.
"Well... that thing... the Dementor... stood there and looked around... and you... you..."
"I thought you were having a fit or something," said Ron, who still looked scared. "You went sort of rigid and fell out of your seat and started twitching..."
"And Professor Lupin stepped over you, and walked toward the Dementor, and pulled out his wand." Hermione said. "And he said, 'None of us is hiding Sirius Black under our cloaks. Go.' But the Dementor didn't move, so Lupin muttered something, and a silvery thing shot out of his wand at it, and it turned around and sort of glided away..."
"It was horrible," Neville said in a probably higher voice than usual unless his voice was actually that high. "Did you feel how cold it got when it came in?"
"I felt weird," Ron said, shifting his shoulders uncomfortably. "Like I'd never be cheerful again..."
Ginny, who was huddled in her corner looking nearly as bad as Harry felt, gave a small sob; Hermione went over and put a comforting arm around her.
"But didn't any of you... fall off your seats?" Harry said awkwardly.
"No," said Ron, looking anxiously at Harry again. "Ginny was shaking like mad, though..."
"Interesting..." I thought, not realizing that I have said my thoughts out loud.
Interesting indeed... We barely even felt it presence...
B-But why isn't it afraid of us... W-We still have our powers, unlike the minotaur incident in that temple...
It's definitely not one of those arrogant creatures who think he can just beat us...
I wonder...
"We have talk about you as well." Hermione said pointing at me, stopping my conversation with the Cipher brothers. "Do you realize what you have just done!? You've just used the killing curse, one of the Unforgivable Curses!" She yelled.
"No, I do not." I said sarcastically. "Of course I do! But what was I supposed to do!? One of my first human friends was dying! I had to at least try!" I yelled back.
Hermione looked shocked before looking at me with a sad expression.
"I'm sorry. I was a bit harsh..." She said. "I was worried... You know, they're called Unforgivable Curse for a reason, right?..."
"Yeah..." I replied.
Professor Lupin came back. He paused as he entered, looked around, and said, with a small smile, "I haven't poisoned that chocolate, you know..."
"We'll be at Hogwarts in ten minutes." Professor Lupinsaid. "Are you all right, Harry?"
"Fine." He muttered, embarrassed
We didn't talk much during the remainder of the journey. At long last, the train stopped at a station, and there was a great scramble to get outside; owls hooted, cats meowed, and a toad croaked loudly from under Neville's hat (it was probably his pet toad). It was freezing on the tiny platform & rain was driving down in icy sheets...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And that conclude this chapter! I hoped you enjoy!

Also, Dementors might be fucking real! (Pretty unlikely, it's probably a hoax but still...) Why can't something else might be real!? Like, idk, maybe a hippogriff.

I am out! Peace! *jumps on my Screaming Death named Lilith & flies away*
