The Goggles
Long time no see everyone! Hope y'all are staying safe! It's been a while! So, this book is still discontinued (SORRY!) but someone asked if I could do one-shot of Skyler and Rouge. I thought it was a good idea since I was mean and discontinued this book XD.
Enjoy!

Zeb was nursing a cup of coffee, taking small sips and enjoying the quiet, peaceful morning.
He didn't get them very often anymore since joining Skyler, Rouge and Chopper. Each morning had something eventful whether it was Chopper zapping him awake or Rouge attempting to prank him.
The old rebel sighed, relaxing into the seat and took another sip of the bitter coffee. His ears perked up at the sound of the automatic door opening and saw Skyler enter the room. She seemed to be a little frantic as she looked around the kitchen.
"Looking for something, kid?" Zeb asked, watching the teen. Skyler paused in her search and trained her green eyes on Zeb.
"Uh, yeah. Have you seen my goggles by any chance?" She asked, feeling embarrassed for losing them in the first place.
Skyler felt like a decently organized person, especially when it came to her special goggles. The only time she ever took them off was when she went to bed. So, it was strange when waking up and finding them gone from their usual spot on her nightstand.
"The last time I saw them was on your head before we all went to sleep," Zeb explained. Skyler pursed her lips in thought, remembering having them last night before falling asleep.
She hummed, "That's strange. They can't just have grown legs and walked off. Then, where would they..."
The pilot paused, her brain connecting the dots on a certain culprit. Her blood began to boil and, if it were possible, steam would've left her ears.
She knew exactly what happened to them.

"I am the almighty and fearsome pilot in the whole galaxy, Skyler!" Rogue impersonated his fellow crew member and readjusted the brown goggles over his eyes. Chopper whirled, trying to convince the pirate that it was a bad idea to be wearing the goggles. Yet, Rogue didn't listen.
"Chop, you gotta learn how to lighten up a little," Rogue said, taking the goggles off and spinning it on his finger, "Besides, I bet the princess hasn't even noticed yet-"
"ROGUE! YOU ARE A DEAD MAN ONCE I FIND YOU!" Skyler's voice screeched throughout the ship. Jumping in fright by the sudden yelling, the goggles slipped off his finger and clattered onto the floor.
Just as Skyler entered the cargo bay, she watched as Chopper accidentally rolled over the goggles. A cracking sound came, making the droid roll back in surprise. The lens part of the goggles were both entirely broken.
Rogue's eyes widened in complete shock at the sight of the broken goggles before slowly turning to see a just as frozen Skyler staring in horror. The blue Twi'lek couldn't seem to look away, feeling her heart being torn in two. Her hands trembled and breathing became unsteady.
Shock and confusion turned into sadness for only a moment before melting into boiling rage. She saw red, teeth grinding together and hands clenched into fists. Skyler's cold, harsh glare turned away from the goggles to the pirate, who is the cause of her precious goggles getting destroyed in the first place.
"You..." Skyler spoke in a menacing whisper and pointed an accusing finger at Rogue. The human teen didn't show it on his face but he felt a pang of immensely deep guilt for breaking Skyler's only treasured possession. He didn't know what to say, just continued to stare into emerald eyes.
"You jerk!" The pilot shouted before punching Rogue in the stomach. The young pirate recoiled in pain, holding his aching stomach and felt the air leave his lungs. Skyler turned and stomped off towards the ladder.
"Princess, wait-" Rogue began but wasn't able to finish the rest of his sentence when the Twi'lek had already left the room. Rogue let out a long sigh before being lectured by Chopper.
"Yeah...I definitely screwed up this time," the pirate admitted, eyes landed on the broken goggles still laying on the floor. He picked up the goggles off the floor and examined it closely.
"I don't get it, Chop," Rogue said in defeat and scratched his head, "What even makes this hunk-of-junk so special to her? They're just goggles. There's nothing special to them."
Rogue felt an electric shock on his leg and yelped in pain. The grumpy droid rambled on at the boy with dramatic waving of his small, retractable arms. This left the pirate confused and a little ticked off.
"I have no clue what you said but was that zap really necessary?" Rogue complained before sighing again, "You know what, I'll deal with you later. For now..."
The pirate stuffed the goggles in his pocket and grabbed his holster with his gun inside. He had a determined smile on his face, ready for action.
"...we have some goggles to fix."
Chopper didn't understand but followed Rouge towards the Phantom.

*A few hours later...*
Skyler was sitting in the pilot's seat and scrolled through some of the ship's diagnostics. She found work to be a way of trying to get rid of any memories she didn't want to think about.
Keyword: trying.
The sound of her goggles cracking continued to ring and the sight repeatedly playing her head like a broken record. The stupid look on Rogue's face afterward just annoyed her even more every time it swiftly came through her mind.
Yet, she couldn't stay mad at the pirate for some reason. In some way or another, she felt slightly guilty for punching her closest friend. She knew that pirate deserved it in one way or another but didn't feel like it was necessary. She just should've used her words instead of fists.
Skyler couldn't help herself though. She had been blinded by rage to think clearly. The pilot sighed. She just needed some time away from Rogue to clear her mind.
All of a sudden, a frantic Chopper barged into the cockpit. Skyler jumped in fright, heart skipping a beat.
"What's wrong, Chopper?" Skyler asked before Zeb came in a little afterward.
"Karabast! I'm gonna kill that kid when he gets back," Zeb muttered under his breath.
"What's going on?" The pilot asked, confused about the situation and began to prep the ship to take off.
"Blasted pirate took the Phantom and stole something from the Empire on Lothal. Then Chopper brought the Phantom back since his comm link is broke and the kid gave him enough time to get away," Zeb explained, sitting in the co-pilot's seat and turning his attention to the droid, "You should've stopped him, you bucket of bolts!"
Chopper zapped Zeb and argued about something Skyler couldn't understand. She wasn't even paying much attention to the two bickering crewmates. She could feel herself begin to pale and body grow cold. Then, the teen could feel the adrenaline flow through her veins and began to head towards Lothal as fast as possible.
Rogue was an idiot but that idiot was her friend.
"Chopper, I need you to put in Rogue's coordinates," Skyler ordered, "Zeb, I need you to be in the cargo bay and stand by to help Rouge get into the ship."
Chopper and Zeb both immediately stopped their argument to follow out their captain's orders. Chopper began to set Rogue's coordinates while Zeb ran out of the cockpit. Skyler continued to fly her ship towards Lothal, praying that she would make it on time before something bad happened.
***
They reached Rogue'scoordinates to find him riding a Speeder and trying the getaway from three other Speeder's with bucket head's shooting at him. Rogue seemed to be trying to fire back with his blaster but continuously missed his shot.
Skyler flew down just as some Tie-fighters arrived and shot at the ship.
"Chopper, I need you to go fire down those Ties," Skyler ordered, getting low enough to the ground in front of Rogue. Zeb opened up the ramp and began to fire along with Chopper. Using the cover, Rogue gained more speed until the Speeder finally got onto the ramp.
The old rebel closed the ramp before speaking into his communicator.
"We got him! Let's get out of here!" Zeb said, stumbling when the ship was hit by Imperial fire.
"Karabast," he cursed under his breath, "We ain't out of this yet."
Zeb ran to one of the guns on the ship while Rogue stayed behind. The pirate knew that Skyler would be able to get them all out in one piece.
He believed and trusted in her skills as a pilot.
Rogue took out the broken goggles and the special glass he stole from the Empire. It was time to take responsibility for his actions.
The ship shook again from being hit.
Well, some of his actions.

Skyler pressed the final button, sending them into hyperspace. She sighed in relief, laying back in her chair and relaxed from the close call. Her emotions were flying in many different directions and didn't know which one she felt the most at the moment.
Was she relieved?
Was she mad?
Was she stressed?
Was she tired?
"All of the above," The pilot thought, rubbing circles on the sides of her head.
Her lekku twitched in agitation when hearing the automatic door open and recognizing the presence that walked in. The teenage pilot turned in her seat to face a disheveled pirate.
Skyler stood up and walked towards him until they were merely a few inches apart. Green eyes had to look up to stare into blue. They both held their gazes for only a few seconds until Skyler let out another sigh. Skyler let her head drop, forehead resting on Rogue's chest.
Rogue's eyes widened, stunned by the sudden affection from the pilot. A certain warmth gathered in the human teen's face, feeling slightly embarrassed.
He was excepting another punch or a long lecture about how redundant he was. Not this.
"You idiot..." Skyler spoke quietly, gaining Rogue's attention, "You could've gotten hurt!Why...Why do you have to keep getting yourself into trouble and scare me like that?"
The pirate kept silent, unable to answer her question. He felt the guilt gnawing at him again and didn't like it one single bit. Rogue wasn't a softy nor did he let himself get close to people. He was a strong, charming pirate that couldn't care less about others.
At least, that's what he is supposed to be.
Yet, he couldn't help it. The pilot somehow wormed her way into his tainted heart. He wouldn't admit it out loud though.
Rogue, unknowing of what to do in this sort of situation, awkwardly raised his hand and gently patted her head.
"Look, Princess," Rogue began, forcing the warmth out of his cheeks and coolly continued, "I don't know why you found those goggles to be so important since they're just a piece of junk."
Skyler looked up in confusion and a wave of growing anger making its way to her core. She settled down once seeing her goggles all repaired and being handed over to her. The pilot let the shock evaporate and gently took the material, brushing his hand with hers.
"I guess, I'm sorry or whatever," Rouge said in a "not caring" tone but Skyler knew otherwise. She smiled and placed the goggles rightfully back onto her headpiece where they belonged. The pirate felt his lip twitch up a little before going to blank.
"These goggles..." Skyler softly spoke, "...are my mother's."
Rogue felt himself stiffen and rest his hand on the cylinder-like object clipped to his belt. Finally, he understood...more than she knew.
"Are you alright?" Skyler asked, worried when seeing the change in her friend's demeanor. Seeing that he had been caught, Rogue cleared his throat and sheepishly nodded.
The Twi'lek smiled, "Thank you for fixing my goggles and sorry for punching you in the stomach."
"Woah, Princess! I don't need your sympathy or gratitude. I'm a pirate, remember?" Rogue stated. Skyler smirked, "I'm sure you are."
"What's that supposed to mean?!"
Skyler laughed and sat in her seat.
"It means a lot more than you know."
