Drabbles: Past Memories and New Members
13. We All Wanna Be Somebody
Grim punched the brick wall in furry. The few people in the same area as them running in fear, abandoning their limping friend. Fast breaths came out of Grim's mouth, exhaustion taking its toll on the young adult: another fight, another night of memories. A certain silverhead found a couple thugs hanging out in an alleyway, all asking for a beating and with Grim having a few painful things happen that day, they could use the vent. They weren't going to do it, but when they began to beat up some kid that invoked fury in them. First, it was just some threatening words towards to group of guys and then before Grim knew it, the hood was off and blood covered their hands. Most of it was theirs. Not from fighting, no from Grim repeatedly punching a wall until they had enough. Grim fell to their knees, their knuckles stinging like a bitch. This was the same routine for Grim, wanting to stop the fighting, but the mind being too powerful. Grim wanted to be somebody, just not a fighter.
14. Sleep
Everyone said to sleep, that it will do me good. I knew I couldn't go on like this, not finding the purpose of drifting off into a comatose state for a few hours before waking up from it. I used to dream and that helped cope with some of the pain. Everyone said "You just have to let it go." That if I let it go, the pain and horror will vanish just like that. As I try to do what they said, I felt my stomach churn. This was going to end badly. I fiddled with my silver hair before finagling giving up on it and dropping my hands back onto the bed. As I felt a dark void overcome my vision, I could have sworn I saw a starry figure in front of me. At first the void is pitch black, nothing but my voice echoing throughout the empty space. They suddenly, I felt pain shoot to my side, then the other one in a heartbeat. I looked around and saw people kicking at me, my body changing from that of a young adult back to the days of when I was a young child. When I was called a freak for my hair and eyes, some thinking I was albino. That's when I knew that this wasn't going to be a dream; instead my mind had decided it was time to take a painful trip down memory lane. Expect this time; there was no escaping or denying it.
15. Help From Someone Who Can Relate (Continued from Sleep)
I heard shuffling coming from a few rooms over, mostly due to the fact it was loud enough for a person to hear it they were awake. The shuffling turned to quiet sobs. I knew what was going on and from the sound of it; it wasn't going to end well. I adjusted my glasses before quieting opening the door to my room and closing it again. Thankfully the rest of the house was silent accept for me and a certain silverhead. I quietly strolled down the long hallway that connected all of our rooms. Passing Sara's, then Sheepie's and reaching Grim's. I slowly opened the door, careful not to scare the young adult even more. Just as I thought, Grim was on the floor, curled up in a pile of blankets. They had fallen off their bed from the looks of it and were having one hell of a nightmare. This was now common for some reason among them.
"Not again kid. This is going to kill you one day."
16. Welcome
The day the Squad got another roommate was the day no one would expect. It was so sudden when Kiino and Sara found an extra room in the house, posting online they had room for a seventh person. Instantly a request came in, someone going by the name of Jeremy. The group found that ironic in many ways, but hid it when the new member showed up on their doorstep. As Grim opened a door, a brunette in front of them wearing a black and grey plaid shirt jumped. The newcomer jumped, nearly falling off the steps.
"Welcome to hell. Would you like a hand?" The silvehead chuckled, hoping not to frighten the new member. Sheepie pushed her way past Grim, not able to stand one more minute of waiting.
"You must be Jeremy! I'm Sheepie and the meme behind me is Grim." She held out her hand for the boy to shake, which he did. He had a feeling that he would like these people already.
17. Starting Today, You Are a Squad Member!
Jeremy explored the large house, feeling a bit on edge from how much bigger the place was on the inside. Grim and Sheepie trailed behind, announcing the new arrival. Sting and Icky came out of their rooms to say hello to the new member, Sting feeling a bit on edge to have another person in the house. Thankfully they seemed plenty nice to the doll so she quickly grew used to it. The couple followed Jere in his tour around the house, hoping to find Sara and Kiino along the way so the whole squad could welcome him. The squad showed him most of the house, the final room being his own. In there was Sara and Kiino patching up a few things.
"Oh! You are here already, we didn't hear!" Sara began the whole introduction spiel. Kiino nodded, adding a few words before telling everyone to leave so Jeremy could settle. As everyone left, Kiino hung around in the doorway so they could tell the newcomer something.
"Oh and one more thing."
"Yes Kiino?" The brunette questioned.
"Starting today, you are a member of the Squad! So make sure to remember we are here for you and I'm sure you'll settle in quite nicely."
18. Bullied
"What are you, an albino?" Grim brushed off the words as the other ten-year olds started to gang up on them. The silverhead tensed, hoping to keep their chill in order to prevent the bullies from winning. This was beginning to become normal for the poor kid, having to deal with people teasing them for their eye color. Children were stupid.
"N-no I'm not!" The group laughed as one of them shoved Grim, expecting the child to land on the ground. Instead Grim caught themselves with their left arm, hurting the arm, but surprising the crowd nonetheless.
"If you aren't one they why are you such a freak!?" Something snapped within Grim, their mind taking over as a punch was thrown in the direction of the owner of the voice.
"SHUT UP!"
19. Birthday
(Idea for this goes to Kiino and I kinda wrote this on my b-day, July 4th)
Grim flopped on their bed, attempting to ignore the pain pulsing from their head. It was one of the busiest days ever at the store, and to make matters worse, Grim was one of the two people who were working that day. Stress built up as fast as it possibly could, making Grim exhausted to the bone. Sleep came easy for once to the silverhead, the young adult not even bothering to take off their hoodie. Grim fell into the dark void known as sleep for a few hours, giving the Squad to set up a few important things for the young adult.
-----------
Grim was woken up by someone shaking them, the voice making Grim know it was Jere.
"Uhh J-jere? What do you want?" Jeremy smiled and replied.
"Oh I just needed some help with something in the dining room. You think you could help me fix it?" Grim groaned, but hopped out of bed nonetheless. They would never turn down a squad member in need. As Grim left their room and followed Jeremy, they noticed the lights were off.
"Why are all the light off?" Jeremy didn't reply and only continued his path down into the dining room. "Jere what's going on?!" Suddenly, the lights were turned on, blinding Grim for a few seconds before hearing, "Happy Birthday Grim!" Grim blinked away the daze and stared as the Squad jumped up, the room decorated in red and blue decorations. Grim's eyes widened, trying to process what was going on. Grim quickly mumbled a few words before going off to hug the Squad, "How did I forget it was my birthday today?" The Squad received hugs and words of thanks from the young adult, Grim now being nineteen years old and ready to spend many more with the Squad. They were the only people who could make them truly happy.
