Chapter 6 (Journey from platform nine and three quarters)
Me: Hello! I'm back again!
Danny: Wow. That was fast. ...ish. ...I guess. At least it hasn't been a month.
Me: Watch it. And anyway it's summer now, so I'm trying to update more often.
Danny: Well that's good.
Me: Yep! Now, disclaimer please?
Danny: Waves-Of-Fury doesn't own Danny Phantom or its characters, or whatever the other thing is, or its characters.
Me: Or Dan, Phil, and Tyler. I do not participate in the thing called slavery for it tis illegal. Now, ONTO THE STORY!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Danny spent his last month buying and furnishing his and now Tyler's house. And ya know other housely things that may need to be done.
He also continued to work at the cafe with Dan Phil and Tyler. Tyler's hair had reverted back to his natural non dyed, reddish blonde color. (You can just look up top. Tyler is in the middle Dan on his left and Phil on his right.) Phil had even managed to get him to play and sing a couple of times.
It was the last day in August and the day before Danny would be going to Hogwarts. Dan, Phil, Tyler and Danny were all cleaning up the cafe after closing it for the day.
"So Danny, you ready for tomorrow?" Phil asked as he finished cleaning off the island of the bar.
"Yeah! But how do we even get to a wizarding school anyway?" Danny asked looking up from the table he had been cleaning.
"By the train." Tyler said as he dropped off some more dirty dishes to Dan.
"Train?" Danny asked moving to the Table Tyler had just cleared and began to wipe it down, "Isn't there a more, well, magical way to get there?"
"You'd be surprised." Dan said finishing up the last of the dishes and joining Phil to get their stuff from the back room.
"Alright, train then. When and where and how?" Danny said as he finished and put away the cleaning stuff, making his way to the back room to grab his stuff.
"Well, we need to leave by 7:00 so that we can pick up Dan and Phil at their apartment and get to Kings Cross station. And then we make our way to Platform nine and three-quarters where you, Dan, and Phil will board the train." Tyler explained as they said their good byes to Dan and Phil before heading back to their, now legally owned, house.
Danny when to pack while Tyler set up and got ready to film a video.
Around 10:00 once Tyler was done and the video was edited, and Danny was all packed and ready for tomorrow, they both headed to bed.
~the skip of times~
Danny was quite rudely awoken by the sun directed straight at his face through his, still uncurtained, window.
Checking the time Danny saw that it was 5:00 in the morning.
Danny groaned and decided that since he wasn't going to go back to sleep any time soon that he would go ahead and get ready.
He threw on a grey shirt and a dark grey hoodie along with black jeans and black and white converse.
Checking the clock again he saw was that it was now 5:30. He went downstairs and made breakfast for himself and Tyler, who was still asleep.
He ate, cleaned up his mess, and went and brushed his teeth.
After all that it was about 6:00, Danny was bored.
Tyler was still asleep and that gave Danny an idea.
~time skip~
Tyler's alarm went off at at about 6:15.
Tyler groaned and dragged himself out of bed, got dressed, brushed his teeth and went to go downstairs for breakfast.
That's when it happened.
It started with tripping on a trip Wire and resulted in Tyler looking like a cheerleader and like he was going to a pride festival at the same time.
Tyler stared at Danny who sat on the couch admiring his work.
"Jokes on you, I'm wearing this now." Tyler said he then turned as sassily walked into the kitchen and got the leftover of the breakfast Danny had made earlier.
Danny blinked before he rolled his eyes with a soft smile and went up to get his stuff.
At 6:45 Danny and Tyler, still in the cheerleader pride looking look, were in the car and on their way to London to get Dan and Phil and head to Kings Cross Station.
~time skip to the station~
"So Tyler, not that you aren't totally pulling it of, what's with the pride parade cheerleader look?" Dan asked as they got out and headed into the station.
"Danny thought of a prank and it ended in this, so I went with it because I can totally pull it off." Tyler explained.
"Yes queen!" Danny said as Tyler struck a pose causing their group of four to laugh and continue walking till Danny noticed something.
"Wait, there's no platform nine and three-quarters here." Danny said as he looked around and saw that they were standing in between platforms nine and ten and there was nothing in between there.
"Not here. We can't just have muggles walking onto the platform." Tyler explained.
"Then how do we get onto the platform?" Danny asked.
"You run straight through the barrier between platforms nine and ten." Phil explained.
"And make sure not to go intangible." Dan said.
"Alright." Danny said. He took a deep breath. "Here goes nothing." He whispered to himself and then ran straight at the wall and it took all he had not to go intangible in fear of the in coming wall.
Danny squeezed his eyes shut in fear before reopening them cautiously to see that instead of crashing he was on a platform, platform nine and three-quarters to be exact. (Random thought: Do you thing J. K. Rowling ever got tired of typing that out? )
"Good job Danny!" Tyler said as he Dan and Phil came through what looked like a wrought iron archway and not a wall.
"Now, let's get you situated on the train before Phil and I head off okay?" Dan asked.
Danny nodded and the four made their way onto the train, putting his trunk up in an empty compartment towards the end of the train.
"Well, Dan and I have to go so that we can get there with the other teachers. See ya later Danny!" Phil said before both he and Dan were pulled into a hug by Danny.
"See you guys later." Danny said before releasing them.
Danny then turned to Tyler, "I'm going to miss you." he then pulled Tyler down into a hug.
"I'm going to miss you too." Tyler said before they pulled away, "Hey, don't forget to write to me often." he said with mock strictness.
Danny laughed, "I won't. Bye Tyler."
"Bye Danny."
Danny sat down and leaned against the window, before he knew it he had fallen asleep.
~quick kinda focus on Harry for a sec~
Harry made his way through the train towards a compartment that was towards the back of the train, he found it empty with the exception of one kid who was asleep against the window.
He began to try and put his trunk trough the door, but couldn't get it up the steps.
"Want a hand?" one of the red-headed twins from earlier said.
"Yes, please," Harry said panting.
"Oy, Fred! C'mere and Help!"
After the twins had helped Harry get his trunk tucked away in the compartment and had run off at the calling of their mom, he went in to the compartment and sat in the seat by the boy who laid asleep on the window.
~time skip 'cuz I'm not typing out the entire convo between Ron and Harry~
Danny groggily began to slowly wake up and the first thing he heard was, "Bleaaargh -- see? Sprouts."
"What?" Danny asked as he sat up and looked at the two boys that now occupied they compartment as well.
"You're awake." Harry said.
"Welcome back to the world." Ron said.
Danny rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.
"Yep. I'm alive." 'For the most part at least' Danny thought.
"So, What's your name? I'm Ron , Ron Weasley." Ron introduced.
"And I'm Harry...Harry Potter." Harry said awaiting an over the top resopse or something, but that's not what he got, intead what he got was totally normal.
"Nice to meet you guys. My name's Danny. Well, Daniel but please call me Danny." Danny said.
"And your last name?" Ron asked.
"I'm sure you'll find out soon enough." Danny said.
Harry and Ron shared a look before they shrugged, "Alright." They said at the same time.
"So what were you guys talking about?" Danny asked.
Danny, Harry, and Ron had fun eating the Bertie Bott's Every Flavored beans. It had become a challenge among the three of who could manage to eat the most in a row without spitting them out.
Soon the rolling countryside became replaced with woods, twisting rivers, and dark green hills.
There was a knock on the door of their compartment and a round faced boy came in. He looked upset.
"Sorry," he said, "But have you seen a toad at all?"
When they shook their heads, he let out a wail, "I've lost him! He keeps getting away from me!"
"Yes," said the boy miserably. "Well, if you see him..." then he left.
"Don't know why he's so bothered," Ron said. "If I'd brought a toad I'd lose it as quick as I could. Mind you, I brought Scabbers, so I can't talk."
Said rat was asleep on Ron's lap.
"He might have died and you wouldn't know the difference," Ron said in disgust. "I tried to turn him yellow yesterday to make him more interesting, but the spell didn't work. I'll show you, look..."
He rummaged through his trunk and pulled out a very battered-looking wand. It was chipped in places and something white glinted at the end.
"Unicorn hair's nearly poking out. Anyway --"
No sooner had he raised his wand when the compartment door slid open again. The boy with the missing road was back, but this time he had a girl with him. She already wore her new Hogwarts robes.
"Has anyone seen a toad? Neville's lost one," she said. She had a bossy sort of voice, lots of bushy brown hair, and rather large front teeth.
"We've already told him we haven't seen it." Ron said.
"Sorry." Danny chimed in, but the girl wasn't listening to either of them, she was focused on the wand in Ron's hand.
"Oh, are you doing magic? Let's see it, then." She sat down. Ron looked a bit taken aback.
"Er -- all right." Ron said, he cleared his throat.
"Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow,
Turn this stupid fat rat yellow."
He waved his wand, but nothing happened. Scabbers stayed grey and fast asleep.
"Are you sure that's a real spell?" The girl asked. "Well, it's not very good, is it? I've tried s few simple spells just for practice and it's all worked for me. Nobody in my family's magic at all, it was ever such a surprise when I got my letter-"
The girl rambled on a bit longer but Danny tuned her out. Only listening back in at the end.
"-I'm Hermione Granger, by the way, who are you?" She asked.
Danny saw Harry and Ron share a stunned look before turning to answer her question.
"I'm Ron Weasley," Ron muttered.
"Danny."Danny said, re joining the conversation.
"He won't give his last name. Says he's sure we'll find out soon enough. I'm Harry Potter," Harry said.
"Are you really?" Hermione asked. "I know all about you of course -- I got a few extra books for background reading, and you're in Modern Magical History and The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts and Great Wizarding Events of the Twentieth Century."
"Am I?" Harry asked, felling dazed.
"Goodness, didn't you know, I'd have found out everything I could if it were me," Hermione said. "Do either of you know what House you'll be in? I've been asking around, and I hope I'm in Gryffindor, it sounds by far the best; I hear Dumbledore himself was in it, but I suppose Ravenclaw wouldn't be too bad. . . . Anyway, we'd better go and look for Neville's toad. You three had better change, you know, I expect we'll be arriving soon."
And with that she left, taking the toadless boy with her.
"Whatever House I'm in, I hope she's not in it," Ron said.
They then spun off into a conversation about the Houses, which was the best and which ones they hopped to get into. This then some how led to The topic of Quidditch and Ron going off about it having to explain it to both Danny and Harry.
Ron had just begun to take the other two through the finer points of the game when the compartment door slid open once again, but it was neither Neville nor Hermione Granger this time.
Three boys entered the compartment.
"Is it true?" The pale one in the middle said. "They're saying all down the train that Harry Potter's in this compartment. So it's you, is it?"
"Yes," Harry said, while looking at the boys who flanked behind the pale boy. Both of them were thickset and looked extremely mean.
"Oh, this is Crabbe and this is Goyle," the pale boy said having noticed where Harry was looking. "And my name's Malfoy, Draco Malfoy."
Ron coughed, which could quite possibly to have been to hide a snicker. Draco Malloy looked at him.
"Think my name's funny, do you? No need to ask who you are. My father told me all the Weasleys have red hair, freckles, and more children than they can afford."
He then turned back to Harry. "You'll soon find out some wizarding families are much better than others, Potter. You don't want to go make making friends with sort. I can help you there."
He held out his hand to shake Harry's, but Harry didn't take it.
"I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for myself, thanks." Harry responded coolly.
Draco didn't go completely red, but the pink tinge on his pale cheeks didn't go unnoticed by Danny.
"I'd be careful if I were you, Potter." He said slowly. "Unless you're a bit politer you'll go the same way as your parents and brother. They didn't know what was good for them either. You hang out with riffraff like the Weasleys and that Hagrid, and it'll rub off on you."
Ron, Harry, and Danny all stood up.
"Say that again," Ron said, his face as red as his hair.
"Oh, you're going to fight us, are you?" Malfoy sneered.
"Unless you get out now," Harry said, more bravely than he felt, because Crabbe and Goyle were a lot bigger than him, Danny, or Ron.
"But we don't feel like leaving, do we boys? We've eaten all our food and you still seem to have some."
Danny had finally gotten fed up.
As Goyle went to grab a chocolate frog but before his hand had even touched the pile Danny had grabbed his fist in his grasp.
Goyle attempted to escape the smaller boy's grasp, but to no avail.
"Look here. If you wanna bully someone, how about picking on someone your own size. Or not hiding behind these to idiots like a coward," Danny said, releasing Goyle's hand and tossing him back towards a stunned Draco Malfoy. "Now, unless you would like to puss me off further I'd suggest you leave." He flashed his eyes green quickly, for only Draco to see, just for good measure.
Malfoy backed away from Danny and Malfoy, along with Crabbe and Goyle, disappeared without another word.
Not even a second later, Hermione Granger had entered their compartment once again.
"What has been going on?" She said, looking at the sweets that littered the floor.
"Can we help you with something?" Ron asked, turning to Hermione
"You'd better hurry up and put your robes on, I've just been up to the front to ask the conductor, and he says we're nearly there. You haven't been fighting, have you? You'll be in trouble before we even get there!"
None of them answered.
"Well, I only came in here because people outside are behaving childishly, racing up and down the corridors," Hermione said in a sniffy voice. "And you've got dirt on your nose, by the way, did you know?"
Ron glared at her as she left. Danny let out a snicker earning his own glare form Ron.
They then proceeded to change into their black robes. Though Ron's were a bit short for him, you could see his tennis shoes (Me: I don't say 'sneakers'. Fight me.) from underneath them.
The train slowed down about five minutes later and finally stopped. People pushed their way toward the door and out on to a tiny, dark platform. The chill of the night air didn't really affect Danny much, but he could see Harry shiver beside him. Then a lamp came bobbing over the heads of the student. Danny then heard a booming voice come from over head and looked up to see a literal giant.
"Firs' years! Firs' years over here! All right there, Harry?"
Danny looked to Harry and saw that he apparently recognized the giant.
"C'mon, follow me -- any more firs' years? Mind yer step, now! Firs' years follow me!"
Slipping and stumbling all the first years followed the giant down what seemed to be a steep, narrow path. It was dark and Danny assumed they were surrounded by trees. Nobody spoke much. Neville did sniffle once or twice though.
"Yeh'll get yer firs' sight o' Hogwarts in a sec," the giant called over his shoulder, "jus' round this bend here."
There was a loud chorus of "Oooooh!"
The path opened suddenly onto the the edge of a large black lake. Perched atop a high mountain on the other side, its windows sparking in the starry sky, was a vast castle with many turrets and towers.
"No more'n four to a boat!" The giant called, pointing to a fleet of little boats sitting in the water by the shore. Danny, Harry, Ron, and Hermione all ended up in a boat together.
"Everyone in?" The giant asked, having boarded a boat himself. "Right then -- FORWARD!"
The ride was quiet as everyone took in the scenery and staring at the grand castle that loomed overhead. It towered over them as they sailed closer and closer to the cliff where it stood.
"Heads down!" The giant yelled as the first boats reached the cliff; they all bent their heads down and the little boats carried them through a curtain of ivy that hid a wide opening in the cliff face. They were carried through a dark tunnel that took them, presumably, under castle, until they reached an underground harbor of sorts, where they clambered out onto the rocks and pebbles.
"Oy, you there! Is this your toad?" The giant asked, who was looking over the boats as people climbed out of them.
"Trevor!" Cried Neville, as Danny remembered, holding out his hands. They then made their way into smooth damp grass directly in the shadow of the castle.
They walked up a flight of stone steps and crowded around a huge, oak front door.
"Everyone here? You still got your toad there?"
The giant then raised a huge fist and knocked three times on the castle door.
Me: *flops onto bed* It's done.
Danny: ...Are you okay?
Me: IT TOOK ME FIFTEEN DAYS TO WRITE THIS! AND I DIDN'T PROCRASTINATE THIS TIME!
Danny: Why?
Me: Because I keep having to look at the book for the lines and stuff.
Danny: Oh.
Me: Yeah. *lets out relieved/exhausted sigh* Anyway, that's all for now. What did you think? Till next time, bye!
