Chapter 1
Eighteen years before that terrible day, the sounds of cries rang through the castle, inside the royal chambers was a woman that just given birth to a baby girl. This baby was the heir to the kingdom of Egypt, the kingdom of the gods. As if on cue, the light from the open window shined its light on the baby causing the cries to cease.
As the baby calmed down, she was placed in her mother’s arms. The queen of Egypt, Emaria. The father, the King of Egypt, Arkmanra was back in the throne room doing the royal duties that he had to do.
When it became sunset, however, Arkmanra walked through the halls towards the bedroom to finally see his daughter. As he entered he saw his wife holding the child and he froze. All he saw was the bright red hair on the baby’s head. The hair almost looked like blood if it was looked at a glance,
“How long has she had that color? It was black when I first saw her.” He said both slightly shocked and slightly concerned.
His wife, Emaria looked at him and gave him a small smile. “She’s had this since Ra had shown his light on her this morning. Isn’t she beautiful?” She asked him and finally showed him their daughter.
When he looked at the child he couldn’t help but feel a small sense of pride and almost a sense of worth and purpose. The child in her mother's arms had skin that looked like a warm amber mixed with a shade of light chocolate giving her a medium complexion. Her hair is as red as her mother's ruby necklace and as bright as the setting sun. When the child opened her eyes they were a beautiful shade of amber that any man would simply get lost in willingly. Emaria looked at her husband and she smiled before she cleared her throat gently.
“We need to give her a name darling.” She said with a small chuckle as she watched him get out of that trance.
Arkmanra shook his head quickly before he soon sighed gently, he looked at the baby and then back at the bright red hair before he gave a smile.
“Shani. Her name shall be Shani.” He said after a few moments of thinking.
Shani… The princess of Egypt, the daughter of the royal family but also the one who shall send a sea of blood, rage, and fear throughout the land.
As the moon rose from the earth and into the sky the gentle light shown on the crib of Shani, this light was jealous of RA, and it intended to leave its mark.
The mark of the Bat, but as a shadowy figure was about to, Shani began to cry and the shadow was gone as soon as it came, but before it left. It gave the child a different mark, the shadow gave little Shani a pair of black wings on her right arm. Emaria and Arkmanra quickly came into the room to check on their child.
When Arkmanra looked at Shani, his eyes widened when he saw the wings, but he didn’t say anything… But from this point on he would grow panicked, fearful, and distant from the child. Creating tension as the child grew up.
Emaria noticed the way her husband reacted, and she felt her heart sink and she held her daughter close to her almost as if she was protecting her from him in a way. To shield her from the horrors that would eventually lead to the downfall of the once magnificent kingdom that had been so prosperous and truly in its golden age.
The next morning the scholars came into the throne room, their faces paled, and they walked almost like children who were afraid to speak to their parents. Once they got to the king and queen one of them was pushed forward by the other two.
The one scholar glared at the others who looked away to avoid fault or acknowledgement of what they did. Finally, one looked at the elder and gave a small nod.
“Y…Your majesties, we have heard what happened to Princess Shani and w…well the others and I looked into it.” the elder said as he couldn’t look at the two royals sitting a few feet above him.
Arkmanra looked as he felt his eyes narrow, and he felt him before he narrowed his eyes at them. This shadow had not only Affected their child it had affected the whole city and more importantly the king himself…
