Chapter Thirteen
"He killed him? But Thayne literally just told me that his father has silver poisoning," I muttered, utterly confused.
She threw me a funny look. "Seriously? You trust him to tell you the truth after he practically kidnapped you?" she scoffed.
"Good point," I murmured. I groaned a little, shifting my body uncomfortably. My hands were still restrained behind my back, making my shoulders ache and my wrists burn with even the tiniest movement.
"How are you healing? Aren't those restraints made with silver?" Elena asked.
I ran my tongue across my lip and realize she was right, I was still healing. I thought for a moment before grinning; the wolfsbane was still in my blood.
Well that explains the burning, I murmured to myself. I thought I was imagining the feeling under my skin but obviously not.
"Roxanne, I meant to ask you this yesterday, but I forgot. Is Alpha Thayne your mate?" Elena suddenly asked.
I turned to see her peering at me curiously. "Why?"
She smirked. "I knew it. I just remembered some of the rumors from last year. People said he rejected you and that's why you ran away," she told me.
I growled angrily. "I ran away because I couldn't handle the abuse anymore, and there was nothing left for me here. I had hoped a mate would make things better, but then Thayne rejected me. I accepted his rejection and never looked back," I spat.
"Wow, I almost feel bad for being the cause of some of that pain. Everyone was so convinced that I was going to be his mate that they had already started treating me like a luna," Elena said.
I stared at her in surprise. "That has to be the nicest thing you have ever said to me."
"Yeah well I still hate you for what you did to our alpha and luna so don't read too much into it," she growled.
I kick the bars of my cell in frustration. "I was fucking eleven years old! I was on the brink of death for days before I finally gave in. My parents begged for death, they couldn't deal with their own torture anymore, or stand the sight of my brother and I being tortured. I had no choice but to put them out of their misery after nearly succumbing to my own!" I snarled, barely keeping my wolf at bay.
Her eyes widened as a growl continued to rumble deep in my chest. She opened her mouth to say something but then closed it again.
I turned away, looking towards the two guards that were approaching my cell. I stood as they unlocked the door.
I growled, but then my eyes caught onto the electric rod. I clenched my jaw and allowed them to push me out.
My eyebrows scrunched together in confusion when I noticed they were leading me towards the exit.
"Where the fuck are you taking me?" I growled, suddenly worried.
Searing pain shot through my back and I let out a strangled cry. My legs collapsed underneath me, and my body began to spasm uncontrollably.
"Keep your mouth shut you filthy omega!" The guard snapped, kicking me in the side.
The tingling started to fade and I grit my teeth before using my leg to take out his. He fell to the floor beside me where I immediately started smashing my heel into his face.
I kept kicking until blood covered my foot, then delivered a paralyzing blow to his throat. The other guard who was frozen in shock before, suddenly leaped into action.
"That's enough!" He yanked me to my feet and hit me hard on my temple. It wasn't hard enough to knock me out, but enough that my ears were ringing. My vision blurred a little and the floor swayed as I stumbled in front of him.
I bit my lip to hold back a growl and forced myself up the stairs. The silver door swung open when I reached it. My eyes flicked up to see Derek and—I growled loudly.
"Liam! You're lucky your guards saved your ass. Otherwise you'd be dead and your body would be rotting on my territory with the rest of my kills!" I snarled, struggling against the guard as my wolf tried to take over.
His eyes widened slightly and I watched as he stepped back. He reeked of fear. My lip curled upward into a sneer. "Looks like I got all of daddy's alpha blood, who's the omega now bitch!" I spat.
"That's enough! Your alpha came for you Roxanne, he must actually give a shit whether you live or die. We've taken dozens of his wolves in the past and he just left them to die," Alpha Thayne said.
"That's because I told him it was pointless considering how many wolves we would lose trying to get them back," I growled.
He raised his eyebrow at me and Liam's fear increased. "That's beside the point. He somehow got a hold of my beta, and won't let him go unless I release you. As valuable as you are, my beta is more important right now."
"Then release me!" I shouted, yanking against the guard's grip again. Thayne suddenly smirked and my face fell.
"I will, but first I want to make sure that you're going to come back," he growled in a voice that made me back up into the guard.
I heard a click and suddenly my collar was removed and detached from my cuffs. My eyes widened in panic when my back roughly hit a wall.
I looked up at Thayne in front of me. His body was pressing hard against mine, so hard that I couldn't move and my cuffs were digging into my back.
My breathing was ragged, in both fear and lust at his sudden proximity. "What the hell are you doing?" I asked in a shaky voice.
"I recently found out that you can't fully reject your mate, the bond still remains, the rejection just weakens it," he started to say and I panicked.
"Don't you fucking touch me! I'll kill you Thayne!" I snarled, struggling to get away.
He leaned forward until his nose was almost touching mine and I could feel my resistance start to crumble. "No you won't Roxanne, in fact, I can guarantee you are going to be back, begging me to touch you," he murmured.
My legs went weak at the deep, husky sound of his voice. I looked into his eyes and all of my hatred for him instantly disappeared.
My gaze flicked down to his lips and they were suddenly on mine. Pleasure flooded my body, making me let out a small moan.
My mouth moved in perfect sync with his. He kissed me hard, so hard that when he finally pulled away, I was gasping for breath.
My chest heaved and my eyes were closed, focusing only on my breathing. Suddenly, all of the pleasure turned to pain.
I screamed, collapsing against the wall. The space between my shoulder and neck was burning with agony.
Thayne moved away and without the support, I fell onto the floor. I landed hard on my side, but the pain in my neck was still worse than my throbbing face.
Thayne knelt down beside me, blood trickling down from the corner of his mouth. He grinned at me, flashing his sharp, white canines.
"You're a motherfucking piece of shit, you know that?" I growled through my pain.
He stood, a smirk on his face. "Get her up," he ordered the guard.
But before the guard dragged me up, he smashed his booted foot into my face. I heard my nose break and half of the skin on my face ripped open.
"That's for my brother in the prison," he hissed into my ear, locking the collar back around my neck.
I bit back a retort that would probably get me killed. Instead I glared at him as he yanked me to my feet and stumbled through the pack house.
It was completely empty. I was about to ask where everyone was, until we walked outside. The entire pack was in the clearing, surrounding a group of six men at the edge of the forest.
The guard pushed me through the crowd, Thayne growling at them to back up. I spotted Xavier and hope flared up inside me.
He was holding a man—Thayne's beta I assume—in front of him, a knife at his throat. He watched as I was shoved forward with cold eyes.
"Here is your beta, now release mine," Thayne growled.
"Take off her restraints," Xavier growled back, gesturing towards me.
"She's too weak to fight anyway, go ahead," Thayne said to the guard. My cuffs were unlocked and my collar removed.
Thayne grabbed my arm and put his lips next to my ear. "See you soon Roxie," he whispered before pushing me forward. I fell to my knees in front of Xavier, barely keeping my face from hitting the ground.
I watched Xavier shove Thayne's beta away from him. "You touch Roxanne again, and I will destroy this pack," Xavier snarled, his alpha voice making the entire clearing shake with fear.
Xavier leaned down and put one arm under my legs and used the other to support my back. He picked me up bridal style and his warriors surrounded us in a protective circle.
My head collapsed against his chest as we headed out of Black River pack territory. I lost consciousness before we even reached the border.

My smile grew wider as his arms wrapped around me tighter. I rested my head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat underneath me.
"I don't want this to ever end," I sighed. My fingers traced the outline of his abs, lightly touching the solid muscles.
"Don't worry, it won't," a low voice growled.
My head snapped up, bringing Thayne's face into view. The embrace suddenly lost all its warmth and I felt an icy grip around my heart. I tried to push him away, but he held me with an iron grip.
"Let me go Thayne!" I yelled, the cage of muscle restricting my chest. I could barely breathe.
"Never."

I jerked awake with a gasp.
My heartbeat was erratic and sweat plastered my hair to my forehead. I lied in my bed for several minutes, just staring at the ceiling before shakily sliding to the edge.
I slowly stood, instantly feeling nauseous. I held my head, rubbing my aching temples and taking deep breaths.
There was a soft knock at the door, then Xavier walked in. He looked over me for a second, his eyes filled with concern. "How are you doing?" he asked softly.
My eyes widened in surprise. There was not a single trace of anger in his voice.
"Aren't you mad I disobeyed you? That I got myself into locked in Black River pack's prison?" I asked, swallowing hard.
He sighed, shaking his head. "No. I was upset you ditched Hayes and knocked out a few guards but then I was just scared. I didn't know if I'd be able to get you back," he murmured.
My thoughts wandered back to when he rescued me and I felt my eyes burn. "Well now I'm going to have to stay in our prison."
"What do you mean? Why would you have to stay in ours?" He asked, moving closer to the bed.
I bit my cheek and moved my hair away from my neck. His eyes flicked down for a moment before widening.
"He marked me."
