2. Red-handed
"Oh, I still just can't just believe that you are married," Katherine pointed her chin at me while swirling her glass of white wine, with a smile on her face, "having a wife and all." She turned her face to her left side, towards Ron, who was cutting his steak effortlessly, with a mixed expression of politeness and reservedness. "It's really hard to believe."
"And why is that?" Ron put down his fork and knife and looked up at Katherine with an amused experience.
"I always thought you would marry someone only for business." Katherine glanced at me with that same smile on her face. "So, when I heard you married someone who didn't come from a big business family like you," I abruptly looked up at her. Katherine smiled at me kindly, "I mean, a different background." I tried to control it but my eyes slowly squinted at her. Why did I have a feeling that she was trying to humiliate me? Or it might be normal for rich people to talk like that about other people. Without caring how they would feel.
"Well, sometimes big businesses like us do things just for pleasure," He looked at me boldly, "and love." He had a naked expression of passion on his face. I got goosebumps as I realized it was only for me.
"I spent four years with you," Katherine raised her eyebrows at Ron, "and never realized that you are so....romantic."
"Because I never showed you this side of mine ." Ron smirked as he picked up his wine glass.
"That's a...shame." She tilted her head with raised left brow at him. I spoke up before Ron could answer her.
"Or maybe..." I smiled sweetly at her, "It's your loss."
I could see her eyes twitched a little but she was still keeping that polite smile on her face.
"So, I guess you are the lucky one here." She leaned back on her chair's back-rest.
"No, I am the lucky one to have her," Ron said out and slowly intertwined his fingers with mine. "I am glad, my charm worked on you." He stared at me intensely.
"That's very romantic Ron." Katherine raised her wine glass. "To our lovely couple."
Ron also raised his glass.
"Thank you."
Katherine looked at me with a friendly smile on her face.
I smiled back and joined them.
"Right," just as Katherine was about to climb into her car, she turned towards us, "I am having a party this weekend. With some old friends. You remember Derek and Thomas?"
"Yeah, kinda." Ron answered calmly but the expression on his face clearly screamed that he didn't even bother to remember them.
"They will also fly over here to attend the party." She smiled sweetly at Ron. "They are very excited to meet you after so many years." I was just standing between them and listening to their conversation. "You too, Liza." She then turned to me. "It will be a little boring for you as you don't know anyone in the party. But please try to come over."
Even though she invited me with a smile on her face, her expression was stating something else.
"Sure." I smiled back.
"See you later then." She finally went inside the car and her driver drove away.
"She likes you," I told him in a confident way, with a smug expression on my face.
"Who?" Ron looked at me with an innocent face then to the way Katherine went. "Katherine? Yes, I know that."
"You know that?!" I was a little surprised because of his calm answer. I wasn't expecting that. I thought he would be surprised or would deny everything.
"Then why did you break up?" I asked with a little bitterness in my tone.
"Break up?" Ron was a little confused. "But we never dated?"
"What?!" I was a little puzzled. "Then?!"
"Then what?" Ron had an amused expression on his face. "She liked me, that's her business. What does that have to do with me?" Then he leaned towards me with a mischievous smile on his face. "Or should I start to mind?"
"But, did you sleep with her?" I inquired.
"Yeah." I was amazed by Ron's calm tone.
"Really?!"
Ron chuckled a little.
"What's that look on your face?"
"Oh, I don't know." I kept that sour expression on my face. "It's a look that can't just believe that you slept with her and confessed like, you stole a cookie from a jar."
"Don't tell me, you expected me to be a virgin this whole time?!" Ron was still laughing. "Come on, everybody sleeps around a little in their college time."
"Well, I didn't."
"Because, you missed the chance." Ron raised his eyebrow at me. I opened my mouth, then closed it again.
He wasn't wrong though.
I almost slept with Brant, if the fire incident didn't happen that time.
"Are you upset?" Ron brushed his fingertip on my nose lightly.
"I don't know." I grumbled as I rubbed my palm on my nose. No wonder, she was acting so cocky with me.
"Do you want to come to the party with her?" He asked.
"Yeah sure." I answered nonchalantly. Ron slightly narrowed his eyes at me.
"You don't have to, if you don't want to."
"If I don't go she will think that she won."
"This is not a battle. Even if it is, you are already a winner for me." Ron told me softly.
"Yeah, I know." I smiled at him. "But I also want her to hear that loud and clear.

"Helloooo, guys~," I shouted cheerfully as soon as I entered the apartment.
"You are late." Oli raised one of her eyebrows in response.
"Rude Brat." I squinted my nose at her. "I am a working woman. I can be a little late, you know."
"We don't give a damn." Rose rolled her eyes. "Now put your ass down."
"Did you bring shawarmas?" Eva inquired before I could put the packet down.
"Let me breathe first." I finally started to lose my patience.
"We didn't block your oxygen supply." Oli took my backpack and started to open it, without my permission. I raised my brow at her.
'Isn't she a little too comfortable!'
"Are you guys free on the weekend?" Eva asked. "There's a new Deadpool movie came out few days ago, which I want to watch."
"Yeah, I am free." Rose wide opened her mouth to take a big bite from her lamb shawarma.
"Count me in too." Oli raised her hand in between unwrapping her shawarma.
"I think I will pass." I picked up a big chunk of chicken from my shawarma and tossed it inside my mouth.
"Why?" Eva sounded disappointed.
"I have a party to attend."
"What party?" Oli looked curious.
"Today I met one of Ron's friends from college. She invited me."
"Did I hear she?!" Rose squinted her eyes at me.
"Yup." I laughed at Rose's expression. "Katherine."
"Never heard of her." Oli squinted her nose as she tried to remember. "Did Ron ever mention her?"
"Don't sweat." I opened my soda can with a pop sound. "She is not that important."
"Is that so?" Oli raised her one brow, with a smirk on her face.
"Yes, it is." I smirked back.

After I finished my last class on Friday, I checked my phone to see a missed call from mom. I called back mom.
"Hey mom."
"How are you dear?"
"Fine mom."
"And Ron?"
"Yeah, he is also fine," I said grumpily as I just remembered his calm expression while confessing about sleeping with katherine.
"What's that tone? Did you guys fight?"
"It's nothing." I swatted my hand in front of my face. "Why did you call me?"
"Do I need a reason to call my daughter?" She sounded a little angry.
"Sheesh! Stop being a drama queen."
"Can't you just come and visit us sometimes." Mom grumbled. "Or do we need to send you an invitation."
"I miss you guys too." I tried to make excuses. "It's just that I am a little busy..."
"Still." Mom mumbled softly. "You should remember us too."
I felt a little guilty after hearing that. It was indeed very long, last I visited them. I was so busy jumbling between my job, college and of course my personal life. But still, I should've made some time for them.
"What are you doing this weekend?" mom asked and I silently cursed under my breath. That Katherine bish! She had to hold that party on that weekend also." I rubbed the middle part of my eyebrow while feeling a little helpless.
"There's a party....this weekend I have to attend a party."
"Oh. Is that so?" Mom's voice felt a little down.
"But, I can visit you on Sunday," I hurriedly said. "If you guys are free."
"That would be great. I bought nice sausages yesterday, you can have some...Oh right, bring Eva with you?"
"Sure." I was a little confused. "But why?"
"We visited our hometown a few days ago. And Eva's grandma gave us some nice ham. She cured it at home. Ask me to share some with Eva."
"Let me check with her. She might have plans for the whole weekend." They did talk about going to watch a movie.
"Okay, let me know."
"Sure."
After I finished talking with mom, I tried to call Eva. It's better to ask her before I forget. Eva picked up my call at the fourth ring.
"Hey, Liz." I didn't know why, but she sounded a little nervous to me.
"I am...I am in the class."
"Now?!" I looked at my phone screen. "But the college is over for today. And why did you pick it up in between the class."
"I..you...I thought maybe you have something important to say." Why was she stammering?
Anyway.
"Mom was asking for you to come, this weekend, Sunday. Are you free?"
"I...yes, I am free."
There was really something wrong with her.
"When will your class end? I am still in college. I can pick you up..."
"No, no, no!" Eva hurriedly cut me off. "I..I might be late."
"Is that so?" I felt a little disappointed. I was hoping to go home together. "Well, see you at home then. And take it easy." I gave her a friendly reminder.
"I will." She laughed.
"Bye."
"Bye."
I put back my phone in my pocket and started to head towards my car. Ian was waiting for me in the car.
Ian finally accepted my request to not t o wear any formal clothes while around my college or work place. He was wearing a black polo shirt and blue denim pants. And a bottle green capon his head, covering eyes slightly.
He still looked handsome in those simple casual attire. At first glance it looked like he was sleeping. But as I approached the car Ian quickly got out from the seat and opened the passenger door for me.
"Thank you~" I gave him a cheeky smile and entered the car. Ian also got in and started the engine.
"Are we going home? Or would you like to stop somewhere?"
"No." I waved my hand. "Just go home."
As Ian started to drive, I drowned myself in deep thoughts about the upcoming party. I had to choose a dress, which wouldn't stand out much, but at the same time can catch everyone's eyes. I need to check my wardrobe...
As I was thinking about those things, I was staring outside. Soon the college ground finished and various shops started to appear. As I was eyeing those shops, something suddenly caught my eyes.
"Stop. Stop. Stop!" I started to slap on Ian's shoulder. Thank god Ian was trained to handle any kind of sudden outcome. He stopped the car at the sideways without being fazed.
"It's everything alright?"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, " I answered Ian as I looked at a certain person in a cafe window.
'Is that..Eva?'
Yes.
It was Eva.
I was certain.
But wasn't she in the class?
What was going on?
Then my eyes landed on the person, sitting opposite of her.
A guy.
Quite handsome and good looking actually. Her friend I guess.
But why did she lie to me?
As my brain was puzzled with so many thoughts, I saw that dude got up and leaned towards Eva. Eva also leaned forward and they...
KISSED?!!
"Wait here." I asked Ian to wait and I stormed into the cafe, after that guy left. Eva was still in there, drinking her coffee.
"Hi, there." I plopped on the seat opposite of her, where that dude was sitting a few minutes ago. Eva choked on her drink.
*Cough* Cough* "Liza!" She was bewildered at first, they quickly compose her expression. "Liza, I...I was actually..."
"Don't sweat." I cut her off swiftly. "I already caught you red handed sitting in a restaurant, kissing a dude. So, no need to come up with any excuse." Guit slowly took over Eva's eyes. "You better start speaking up. But first, let me order something." I picked up the menu card.
"I am hungry."
