Confronting Conflicts
"I'm in love with Indira?" Hunter thought out loud.
Hunter couldn't believe this. Of all things he'd ever felt, he'd never felt romantically about any woman he'd come across. To be fair, he didn't have much time to meet girls with all the missions he did with his brothers. If any of them wanted hope of finding wives, the girls usually had to find them first, or somehow run into them.
Hunter honestly never thought he would wed or even have a girlfriend. Then again, his brothers all thought the same thing about each other and themselves, and yet Tech was happily married now to Mila, and they were in the middle of trying to have a baby. And, Hunter did catch Mila's bouquet at her and Tech's wedding. Granted, it was intended for one of the single girls to catch, but Hunter was single and he caught the bouquet, which, according to tradition, meant he was next to walk down the aisle, all he was lacking was a bride. But Indira of all women?
Indira was definitely something. Beautiful, kind, good with children, and knowing how she escaped a forced marriage when she was a child and survived, it showed she was strong and resilient. Hunter couldn't help finding those features admirable. And knowing she was really a human, somehow when he touched her and held her, something felt different than all the times he'd pet her when she was in her pegasus body.
"Wait a minute!" Carmine said. "Indira? As in, your horse Indira? The same Indira who was a human princess and then became a pegasus Indira?"
"How many Indiras do we know?" Hunter said to make Carmine stop talking.
"Okay, I get it. When did this happen?"
"After I saw her human form, I guess? I don't know. Since I found out she used to be a human, I thought I should've seen her a little differently. But, it wasn't until we danced tonight that I actually felt something. But, I don't know if it's right. I mean, not that long ago, she was a horse, but before that, she was a human."
"That's one love story I never would've guessed possible." Carmine said. "But... I wouldn't call it that weird, seeing as Indira is a human inside, and right now out too. If you really do have feelings for her, you should tell her."
"And what happens when the spell is broken and she turns back into a pegasus?"
Carmine wasn't sure exactly how to respond to that.
"Well, she turned into a pegasus by a spell. You could turn into a horse too. Or she could stay human, probably? Hypothetically, would you be willing to do that?"
Hunter thought about it and realized.... "If she feels the same way, I would be willing to do that. I think. I don't know if she'd be willing to do the same for me. Staying a human, I mean. You know what I mean! We can worry about that after we rescue our horses."

Obi-Wan found the coordinates from Peppermint's bow and forwarded them to everyone else. The Commission was sending their best guards with the Jedi and the royal family to go after Aghati and rescue the horses.
"Remember, everyone," said Chairwoman Laverne. "Even without Mariverde's added clavatization, Aghati is a dangerous man. Go in, get your friends, and get them out quickly. Our guards can handle Aghati."
"So can we." Omega said. "We've faced worse."
"Don't underestimate him, Princess Omega. He has a taste for young and beautiful girls, the younger the better for him, and you would likely be one of his highest targets."
"Don't worry. He touches any of my kids, he's not gonna live to tell the tale." Anakin said.
"Whatever happens, make sure you get Aghati, dead or alive." the Chairman said, as though it were personal for her. "Preferably alive, though, so I can deal with that cockroach myself."
"Quick question, did he do something to you?"
"Yes. My daughter was among the girls he'd kidnapped recently. Now enough talking! Get that Aghati so we can make him pay for putting my daughter in the hospital!"
Garrett couldn't say he wasn't impressed by Mrs. Laverne's feistiness at that moment. She was normally so cool, collected, and wise, but when it came to her daughter, she dropped all of that Goody-Good stuff if anyone dared to go as far as to kidnap and assault her Fiona.
"Better yet, I'm coming too." insisted the Chairwoman.
"If only we could get the parents of every girl that man kidnapped." Boba said.
"We might not have them, but Aghati's going to have a lot more than bruises by the time we're through with him." Padme said.
"Padme," said Anakin. He couldn't help finding it sexy when his wife showed her feisty side.
"Enough waiting!"
So, while Gabby and Masters Fisto and Koth went to get backup, the others followed the coordinates Obi-Wan got to rescue their friends.

In a small palace somewhere far outside of Maamoh-Yah, several of Aghati's men were screaming as they were being attacked by a werewolf pup Aghati tried to make his new doll, not realizing she was a werewolf until she transformed and broke out of her chains.
Goldie was not about to let herself be that monster's next victim. She didn't fully know what he's done to Indira all those years ago, being only almost eight, but Goldie was going to make him regret it big time, both what he'd done before and for trying to do the same thing to another child. That, and because she knew she had to buy some time for her family to find her. There was no way she was leaving the horses behind so Aghati could attack them while she ran out for help. Unfortunately, despite her being a wolf, Aghati still wanted to make Goldie into a doll. Although Goldie was very pretty and kinda looked like one of those pretty little dolls you might see men buying for their daughters to innocently play Dress Up and pretend it's their baby, that's not the kind this man was looking for.
Goldie's transformation was definitely fitting with her name. When she grew fur, it was golden brown, but nevertheless, the sharp teeth and claws she grew made even the prettiest wolf pup terrifying when she was angry. You could say she went from "AWW!" to "AHH!" in a heartbeat.
Aghati snapped his whip as Goldie tore up everything in sight, including the clavatized villains' clothing. Goldie scared many of Aghati's guards out of their pants... others, she chewed their pants right off before leaving a nasty set of claw marks on their faces with her claws.
Garrett has taught Goldie a lot of tricks about being a werewolf, and she got a few lessons from her werewolf relatives too during a visit a few months back, but that's another story. Now was the time for her to put those lessons to the test.
At the moment now, Goldie was approaching Aghati, ready to rip him apart.
"I demand you stop this right now, girl!" Aghati demanded, snapping his whip at her, barely missing. "You will do as I say right now. Turn back into a pretty girl so I can play with you properly."
"What's wrong? I thought you liked playing rough." Goldie also made her hands glow, and cast a spell at Aghati that made a bunch of venus flytraps bite his men and then the man himself in the butt.
"Yowch!"
Aghati had gotten through many things to get what he wanted. He'd had his men slit throats, beat people, even throw people off cliffs, not to mention he'd assaulted any women who dared to refuse to cooperate with him the same way he'd done Indira years ago. But it wasn't just humans. They'd attacked wizards, griffins, even a few equines. Werewolves were one of few creatures they had not yet fought because they never had the kind of weapons that could kill a werewolf.
But Aghati got more of his men to sneak up on Goldie, but her sensitive ears made it hard for them to do that without her hearing them and then clawing them. Normally, it would be difficult for a child to fight even one grownup, but Goldie was part werewolf and her father was an amazing teacher.
"Where are you cowards going?! She's just a child!" Aghati shouted as more of his men ran.
"Technically, my stage is pup." Goldie smirked. She sharpened her claws a little by scratching them against the wall. "Now, where were we?"
Goldie kept clawing, but then more of Aghati's men grabbed some of their weapons and fired a net that caught Goldie. And unfortunately, this particular net caused Goldie to change back to a human.
"What is this?" Goldie wondered out loud, getting a feel of the net. "Sphynx hair?!"
This wasn't good. Sphynx hair was known to be very strong for making nets, and it could weaken a lot of types of Enchanteds, including ones as powerful as werewolves.
"Finally." Aghati said. "You're almost more trouble than you're worth."
Aghati snapped his whip again and ordered his men to adjust the hold of the net so he could start doing stuff to Goldie, starting with unzipping the back of her dress.
"Freeze, Aghati!" a new voice said.
Aghati turned around to see Garrett standing there. He did not look happy.
"Who are you?" said Aghati.
"I am the father of that girl you kidnapped." Garrett said, starting to grow fangs. "And you best release my daughter, unless you want to see how much damage I can do."
Aghati snapped his fingers and told his men, "Take care of this."
Aghati's men all got out blasters and aimed them at Garrett.
"This girl belongs to me now. Leave now, and I might let you live. You are outnumbered."
"Not quite." Anakin said, igniting his lightsaber. "You want Goldie, you'll have to get through me."
Then Carmine came out from behind Anakin with his lightsaber.
"And me," said Carmine.
"And me," said Qui-Gon.
"And me," said Obi-Wan.
"And me," said Ahsoka.
"And us." Myra said, coming in with her father.
"No one takes my daughter and gets away with it." Master Mundi said, igniting his lightsaber.
"Or mine." Chairwoman Laverne said, getting out a wand.
Aghati snapped his fingers, and all his men fired their blasters, but the Jedi ricocheted the blasts with their lightsabers, and took out four of his men, while the others barely missed.
"It's over, Aghati." Mrs. Laverne said. "You are under arrest for all the crimes you've committed. We have several of our guards surrounding this palace. Stand down now."
"And we want our horses back right now." Hunter said, aiming his blaster.
But then, Aghati took out a knife and held it by Goldie's throat, striking fear into the child.
"No one moves!" Aghati said. He looked at Hunter again, recognizing his voice. "I know you. You're the man who decided to up and steal my bride. Not that I can blame you. She's a tasty dish."
"You're disgusting!" Myra said. "Now, where are our horses? I mean, the people you kidnapped."
"They are all mine now! And all the pretty girls I see here will be too. Now, all of you drop your weapons, or the child gets it."
Crosshair, however, aimed his blaster.
"Touch her, and you'll get worse." Crosshair said.
"Leave the girl alone, Aghati. She's not the one you want." Garrett said.
"Oh, she is one of those I want. Just because I'm about to be wed doesn't mean I need to settle for one pretty girl. And I always get what I want."
"You're even worse than my brother!" Vince said.
"This is how it's going to work, everyone..." Aghati said. Except, he didn't notice the keys on his belt being taken away by something, or rather someone, he and his men couldn't see.
_______________________________
Meanwhile, all the horses struggled in the dungeon below where Aghati locked them up. The chains were very strong, and none of them had magic horns or strong hooves to break out anymore. And unfortunately, these human bodies weren't quite as strong as their equine bodies.
Carousella grunted as she tried once more to break out of her chains.
"Give it up, Carousella." Peppermint sighed. "Those chains aren't going anywhere."
"Not without a key, they're not." said a new but familiar voice.
That was when Lamenta turned visible to the horses.
"Lamenta!" Crescent exclaimed.
"Shh!" Lamenta hushed. Quickly, she flew herself up and started unlocking the chains. "Quickly, all of you have to get out of here. There's not much time. Goldie's being held hostage, and Aghati's men are probably doing horrible things to the others now."
"We ain't leaving them behind." Maybelle said.
"Yeah. Our riders'll need us." Banjo said.
"You guys don't have your powers like before," said Lamenta. "I don't want you guys to get captured or worse, killed."
"We're no strangers to danger, Princesa." Fiesta said. "We may be humans now, but we can still fight. Vamanos, caballos!"
Fiesta ran on all fours again, still not able to run fully balanced on two legs. And the other horses did the same, Crescent taking Lamenta on her back for the strangest ride of her life.
"Haven't done a ride like this since I was four." Lamenta said.
"Well, it's gonna get bumpy from here on out. Hold on!" Crescent said.
But when the horses arrived upstairs, they found their riders all fighting Aghati's men in an all-out battle with magic, sparks, feathers and blaster fire flying in all directions through the air!
_______________________________
A few moments earlier...
While Lamenta stole the keys and went to free the horses, Aghati was keeping Goldie as a hostage.
"This is how it's going to work, everyone," said Aghati. "You are going to surrender all of the women to me as my men put you in chains. You will become my permanent slaves while you men learn to be men and-"
That was when Agahti started to choke, and another force made his hand move away from Goldie, which gave her time to wiggle out of his grip and into Garrett's arms.
"No one makes me, my mother, or anyone else in my family a slave!" Anakin growled, tightening his grip on Aghati before throwing him into the wall.
But Aghati picked himself up, and took out his whip again.
"Men... ATTACK!"
Aghati's men all fired and jumped in to attack the royal family. They were very fast martial artists, and they each held belts of many weapons. Whips, knives, and balls that made big clouds of smoke that made escapes easy. Except, the Batch and the royal family all fought hard.
Qui-Gon literally shook the ground with a stomp of his foot, Kara super sped past many of the evil guards, throwing them off course, Boba and Omega blinded some of the villains with bright light or steam, and Anakin made lots of vines whip at the villains like Aghati whipped them before.
Aghati got out one of the big guns and blasted open fire at everyone, only succeeding in hitting his own men or destroying the very structure of his house and making a huge mess or nearly crushing someone under the rubble.
"Hold still, will you?!" Aghati said impatiently.
As powerful as they were, Aghati's men were no match for the Jedi's lightsabers, and the royal family was taught well by Garrett and practiced their magic beyond efficiently, but then that was when some backup came along in the form of some friends who'd been there for their rescuers through thick and thin.
"You really thought you could hold us captive, Aghati?" said Queen Reigna.
"How did you get out?!" Aghati demanded. Then he noticed something among the trinkets that got knocked over when he blasted at his opponents and missed. "No matter. You've brought me the exact weapon I need."
Aghati picked up an old oil lamp.
"An oil lamp?" Citrus said. "What are you gonna do with that?"
Of course, Roya and her mom immediately knew what Aghati was planning to do with that, and before they could apparate themselves away, Aghati snapped his whip around Roya and pulled her towards him.
"Roya!" Boba grabbed his girlfriend's hand and tried to get her free, but Aghati pulled harder and held out the lamp, and it unleashed a powerful cloud of purple smoke that began pulling Roya like a huge vacuum cleaner!
Boba pulled as hard as he could, and Qui-Gon tried to help him with his super strength, but the lamp's power was just too strong! And Roya got sucked into the lamp.
"NO!" Boba cried in dismay.
"My baby!" Lanaisha exclaimed.
Aghati laughed victoriously as he looked at the lamp.
"Perfect. A younger genie, younger, stronger magic." Aghati then started to rub the lamp, which made the lamp smoke again, and spit Roya out. But when she was out, she was outfitted with gold chain-like bracelets around her wrists.
"Oh no!" Roya shouted.
This wasn't good; even with the outlawing of genies being slaves, that unfortunately didn't change the rules of genie magic. If a genie gets trapped in a lamp and then is freed by someone rubbing it, they must grant the user three wishes, regardless if they were good or evil. And unfortunately, Aghati had every intent on using those three wishes to win this battle.
"Now, slave. I believe you owe me three wishes." Aghati said.
"Don't do it, Roya!" Carmine said.
"I don't have a choice." Roya said.
"It's true." Aghati said. "Now, my slave. I wish for these invades to be placed into unbreakable magic-proof chains."
Roya tried to resist, but she ended up clapping her hands, and everyone quickly was placed into heavy chains. And none of the enchanteds in the group could cast spells as long as they were on.
"Second, I wish to have the crown jewels of Solaris."
And with a clap, the princesses' necklaces and Boba's bracelet vanished, and all the Solaris royal family's crowns appeared before Aghati and were displayed together on a table.
"And for my final wish.... I wish to have restored, the power my ancestors were robbed of years ago, all-powerful, and all mine!"
Roya clapped once more before she was sucked back into the lamp, and Aghati was engulfed in a red glow, and he felt so powerful when he gave a wave of his hand, separating all the guys from the girls. He then cast a spell on the girls, placing all of them in sparkly, but also revealing outfits.
Myra looked at herself as she was dressed in a blue outfit like Princess Jasmine, except with shorts.
"Really?" Myra said. "This is too revealing, even for me."
As for the guys, Aghati placed all of them in rags and had their hands chained above their heads. The horses all tried to jump in and fight, but Aghati had them all locked up in wicker cages. He didn't bother magic-proofing them, seeing as they were humans now.
"I told you, I always get what I want." said Aghati, approaching Hunter. "You'll think twice before you steal my bride now, won't you?"
"She's not your bride! And she never will be." Hunter said. "She doesn't love you, and never will."
"As if that has anything to do with marriage." Aghati scoffed.
"It has everything to do with it." Qui-Gon said.
"You are all sorry excuses for men," said Aghati. "You forget your places. But don't worry, I will teach you how to properly handle women. Do well, and I might give you a turn with Princess Kanti."
"You are a horrible, horrible person!" Shmi said.
"She's a living, breathing soul! Not some play toy for you." Hunter said.
"She is whatever I want her to be." Aghati said. "Tell me now, where is she?!"
That was when someone who'd been told to stay back in the Marauder came in.
"Looking for me, Aghati?" Indira said. "Here I am."
Aghati looked to see Indira standing there.
"I'm done running from you. These people have done nothing to you. This isn't their fight."
"Indira, what are you doing?" Hunter said.
"Shut it!" Aghati said. Then he held Indira in a magical grip, to the former pegasus' surprise, and pulled her towards him. He held her by her wrists and began to inhale near her neck, forcing Lamenta, Goldie, and Mona to look away at the urging of their parents. "I've waited too long to have you again. I've missed you and your beauty."
"Let the others go, Aghati!" Indira said.
"I might... but first you have a duty to fulfill." Aghati said, and he called his men to take her. "Take my bride and dress her. We have a wedding to commence."
Indira struggled as she was forced into another room. Hunter watched in horror as Indira was now being pulled right into the very thing she'd run from years ago.
_______________________________
Aghati stood at an altar as Indira was forced there in a red two piece dress that revealed a lot of her midsection, and a preacher stood to perform the ceremony with Aghati's men and prisoners as witnesses.
Hunter couldn't believe he was being forced to watch Indira suffer the very fate she'd worked so hard to change, and even worse because he hadn't gotten to express his feelings to her.
Indira struggled, but the chains were just too strong.
"There's no running from me this time, my love." Aghati sneered.
"We are gathered here tonight to witness the union of his Majesty Chief Durmukkah Aghati to Princess Kanti."
"Just get to the vows!" Aghati said impatiently.
"Do you, Chief Aghati, take this woman to be your wife-"
"I do."
"And do you, Princess Kanti-"
"No!" Indira said. "I would sooner die than be wed to a monster like you! You are a horrible man! You degraded me when I was just a child, and have abused many other women! I wouldn't even go on a date with you if you were the last man in the galaxy!"
Aghati grabbed Indira by her hair then and said, "You don't have a choice, my love. You will be my wife. You will do as I say, and you will not question anything I do or say!"
"Only one problem," said a new voice. And in came a red earth horse in gold armor. "She will not be marrying you."
"Papa!" Indira exclaimed.
"Release my bitiya." Jalebi said. "Or suffer the wrath of Sarmi."
Aghati laughed at Jalebi. "What do you expect to do, Sarmi? You obviously have no power of your own."
"I'm Jalebi. Sarmi... is my wife."
Suddenly, Aghati was knocked to the ground as something blue and black swooped at him and then at his men, making all of them fall as she created a strong wind with her powerful wings.
"Mama!"
Sarmi tackled Aghati and angrily snorted on him.
"So, you thought you could attack my little lotus flower and force her to marry you?" Sarmi snorted. "Think again!"
Sarmi stomped her powerful hooves on Aghati and kicked him against the wall and likely broke his ribs when she kicked him in the chest. And she wasn't alone either.
"Charge!" Gabby exclaimed as she rode in on General Mareheart's back.
"Dad!" Crescent and Carousella exclaimed when they saw their father.
And it wasn't just General Mareheart and his brother Serenado. Sapphire's sister Ruby and her husband Quartz, Peppermint's family, as well as many griffins all came to help fight Aghati.
Master Koth rode Ruby and Master Fisto on Quartz, and they were ready to fight.
"Men! Get them!" Aghati ordered, amid the pain he felt as Sarmi came and attacked him again.
Aghati's men charged at Gabby and her team, but Firework made sparks fly from her horn, loud fireworks filling the place and blinding the minions with smoke and sparks.
"Gabby! Roya's trapped in that oil lamp!" Boba shouted. "You have to rub it to free her!"
Gabby quickly jumped off General Mareheart's back and used the Force to pull the lamp to her hands. But of course, Aghati's men tried to get it from her. The griffins, however, swooped over and over at Aghati's men and scratched and scarred them, but the prisoners thought the scariest attacks had to be done by Sarmi.
For a pegasus who trained Indira to be so calm, and who was so gentle, she proved to be one vicious mother as she went straight into Mama Bear mode and was really letting Aghati have it!
Jalebi got to Indira and managed to use a hair pin he picked up with his mouth to free her from the chains.
"Betee are you okay?" Jalebi asked. "What happened to you?"
"I don't know. Somehow, I changed back to a human." Indira looked down sadly. "I'm not the same one you raised anymore."
"Indira Ghoda, look at me." Jalebi gently touched his hoof to Indira's cheek. "Your mama and I loved you even before you became a pegasus. We raised you as our own as your human self a whole year before your official adoption, and we would have continued to raise you and love you even if you had not turned equine. And we will continue to love you as our own whether you stay this way or not."
Indira felt tears come to her eyes, but she didn't have time to embrace her father now because...
"Incoming on your left!" Indira said, and she jumped in and punched one of Aghati's men who attempted to strike Jalebi from behind.
"Still a strong fighter even in a human body, I see." Jalebi smiled, glad to see that teaching his daughter royal guard fighting techniques was paying off.
"I had a good teacher," said Indira.
Gabby ran as quickly as she could while rubbing the lamp, and she freed Roya.
"Roya, are you okay?" Gabby asked.
"I could be better. Except now I'm trapped with you as a master. No offense."
"Okay, no worries. I know how to fix this."
General Mareheart and Serenado tried to use magic on the chains, but the magic just bounced right off.
"These chains are magic-proof." Mariposa said. "You can't get them off with ordinary spells."
"But I can wish them off." Gabby said. "Roya, I wish the chains were off my family and friends and were on Aghati's men instead."
"Your wish is my command." Roya said, happy to clap her wish into light this time. "Also, he has your family's jewels."
"So that's why my necklace disappeared." Gabby said. "In that case, I wish my family's crown jewels were back at the Naboo Palace, locked safely in the treasury."
The jewels disappeared from the table, and in the middle of the fight, Hunter managed to get a hold of Aghati's whip so Anakin could slice it with his lightsaber, turning Aghati back to normal.
"No!" Aghati cried in dismay. "No matter, I still have my magic!"
But then, Comedia Force-pushed Agahti against the wall and knocked him silly before he could cast another spell.
"Magic can only get you so far, buddy." Comedia said before running to Master Mundi and hugging him.
"I was so worried about you." Ki-Adi said, kissing his daughter's face a bunch of times.
Comedia definitely welcomed the kisses, except now that she didn't have fur, her father's mustache tickled her a little as he kissed her.
All the human horses were freed from their cages and ran to their riders, but they were still worried that they wouldn't turn back to normal.
"No problem." Gabby said. "Roya, I wish for every non-human who was transformed into a human by the gummy bears they ate at the All Kingdom's Gala would turn back to normal."
"Sorry, Gabby. That's a no-can-do wish." Roya said sadly.
"It's true," said Garrett. "This spell is through matters of the heart, one of few things genie magic cannot touch. And since we don't know whose heart is conflicted, we don't know how to fix it."
"But I think I do. I've been dealing with a massive conflict in my heart, and only now do I realize the importance of facing it." Indira said. She walked up to Hunter and held his hands. "Hunter... there's something I need to tell you. For the last few months, I've been getting these feelings I couldn't explain, feelings I only get when I'm with you. I know I was a pegasus before, and technically a human first. But, that's why I was scared. I never knew how you would react, and after what happened at the gala..."
"Indira..." Hunter sighed. He started to lean closer to Indira and close his eyes.
Aghati, however, saw a sight he dreaded, and unwilling to let it go through, he had one last trick up his sleeve. Using what magic he had left, he aimed at Hunter and cast a forbidden spell, which Indira was quick to notice.
"Caedesius!" he shouted.
But just before the spell could hit Hunter, Indira quickly swooped in, grabbed one of Aghati's knives, and used it to deflect the spell, and it hit Aghati instead.
"No!" Aghati cried as he started getting weaker by the second, and Indira strode up then got on all fours and kicked him as though she were still in her equine body.
"It's over, Aghati. You took my innocence, my chastity. You will never take anything from anyone ever again." She said to him.
And just as Aghati was taking his last breaths, Indira did something she wanted to be the last thing that monster would see before he died.
Indira ran straight into Hunter's arms and kissed him right on the lips! Hunter was surprised at first, but found himself wrapping his arms around Indira and kissing her deeper. And that was when something magical happened.
All the humans who weren't originally humans began to sparkle near their hearts. Then all of them were suddenly lifted into the air where they started spinning, and as Hunter slowly pulled away, Indira started glowing too. People had to shield their eyes from what was happening as bright lights filled the air, and then, when the lights dimmed down, everyone looked up to see...
Ahsoka gasped when she looked into a reflective piece of metal.
"I'm a Togruta again!"
"Daddy! You're back to normal!" Comedia exclaimed.
"So are you!" Ki-Adi said.
All the horses whinnied and cheered as they were all back to normal. They were all horses again, wings, tails, and all. But Indira, her change was perhaps the most surprising. When she changed back to a pegasus, she wasn't quite the same. Rather, she now had a little oval shaped jewel of pink on her head and gold markings that made it look like she was wearing a crown, her mane fell down from its ponytail, and beautiful vine-like patterns of gold appeared on her legs with a symbol of a big pink lotus flower held in a hand displayed on her flank.
Indira gasped when she looked at herself.
"What's happened to me?" Indira said.
"It looks like you have your beauty mark, betee." Sarmi said, nuzzling her daughter.
Hunter took a look at Indira again, both happy for her that she'd received her mark, but also sad that they'd just had their first kiss, and now it looked like it was their last.
"But... I was born a human. How did I get a mark?"
Indira always thought she would remain the same once she first became a horse. To her knowledge, all the horses, even the centaurs, they all received unique beauty marks, but all of them were originally born that species. Humans had to get a beauty mark either by being born with it or by making one using makeup. She never imagined she would get a symbol on her side, a hair glow up, or any kind of pattern on her body without using dye, paint, or henna ink.
"It's probably because at heart, you always had the spirit of an equine." Reigna said. "The lotus flowers represent how you've bloomed, no doubt, though I do question the hand."
"Perhaps it means simply that you finally realized your destiny has always layed within your hands, whether they be hands or hooves." Sarmi said.
"You look amazing, Indira." Hunter said.
"Oh, Hunter." Indira nuzzled her rider. "I wanted to tell you how I felt long ago."
"Believe it or not," said Hunter, stifling a nervous chuckle. "I realized that I feel the same."
Indira sighed. "I guess it's all for naught, though. If I could be a human again, we probably could have been together. But, I just don't know how I can choose between worlds. I love being a pegasus, but being a human doesn't seem as bad anymore either."
Indira closed her eyes in sadness, and that was when the jewel on her head suddenly glowed, and Indira felt an oddly familiar sensation coming from it, and heard everyone gasping around her.
"What? What is it?" Indira said, and then she looked up to see Hunter was a lot taller now. "Hunter, why are you so much taller now?"
"Try lookin' at your hoof." Hunter said.
Indira lifted up her hoof, only to find it was a hand again.
"What the-?!" Indira was shocked. She let Hunter help her up, him equally confused. "How did... what...why...?"
Now the markings and gem on Indira's head definitely looked like a crown. And she was as beautiful as ever with her hair down.
"I wonder if that gem on your head has something to do with this." Hunter said.
Indira decided to try something. She got on all fours and imagined being a pegasus, then she stood on two legs and pictured being human. She did this two more times and found a pattern. It appeared that when she earned her mark, she also earned her crown; she was technically a princess, after all. And her crown held a magical jewel that allowed her to become a human or a pegasus whenever she wished. Indira didn't belong in just one world; she born a human, but with an equine's spirit.
