Chapter Four: Team Work

Dean sighed, since there was no way he could escape from Sam. The man was determined to figure out everything he knew about the pearl, and he wasn't about to give up that easily. "Fine," Dean said. "The Pearl of the Sea is one of the rarest relics, as you know, ever found just off the coast of Greece. With it, anybody can get their hands on it and be able to not only control the oceans, but if done correctly, could control any human being on this planet."

"And why were you specifically sent to retrieve this.. pearl?" Sam asked. Dean rolled his eyes, honestly he was expecting Sam to arrest him. But all things considered, Dean was confused and wondering why the kid hadn't arrested him.

"Because i'm one of her most reliable thieves," Dean responded. "Since you know so much about me, you know all the things I've stolen."

"I will not go through the checklist, but you want to know what I know?" Sam asked. "Your boss was the one who sold you out," he continued. "And from the way it seems, she sold you out big time."

"What's your point?" Dean asked. "I mean, you already have the egg. It's practically already gone." Sam narrowed his eyes toward Dean, Dean stared back. Once the two locked eyes with one another, Dean swore he saw a similar look in his father's eyes. He couldn't explain the situation, especially with his brother still being missing, but it meant nothing until he could find his brother.

"About that. On the way here, I received a message from my partner when I left to go chase after you," Sam explained. "The pearl that was supposed to return to the museum has been stolen, which means we're back to square one." Dean's brows furrowed, thinking more like what had gone wrong during the situation. Before he could think much about anything more, his phone beeped, causing him to snap out of his thoughts. Dean pulled out his phone and read the caller ID. He looked up from his phone, then at Sam.

"Do you mind? I have to take this." Dean said quickly and left, not allowing Sam to say anything else.

Sam watched Dean's retreating as he entered the bedroom. Not willing to take chances of him escaping from his grasp yet again, Sam made his way over to the bedroom door and eavesdropped on the conversation going on.

"No.. I just.." he heard Dean say. "Look, I know I failed at taking that Pearl, but what did you want me to do?" a pause. Dean allowed the person on the other end to talk before responding. "I know.. yes ma'am, I won't mess up again, but the officer just told me that the pearl has been taken," he continued. "I thought you got it, wait you didn't? You mean someone else was behind thievery?" he kept going. "But how could that be possible? It was in police custody when I was taken in, wait are you telling me what I think you are telling me?" Sam grabbed the handle and slowly pushed the door open, he looked through the crack at Dean who was now pacing around his room, Sam didn't think it was possible but the fact that there could be another person behind it was something that Sam wasn't exactly expecting. If Dean was right and the pearl was the key to total domination and turning everyone into mindless drones, then things needed to stop or else something terrible would go down. The call finished and Sam quickly closed the door to make sure that Dean didn't think he was eavesdropping. He looked around the room until his eyes landed on a picture frame on the coffee table.

Picking it up from the table, Sam looked at the picture. It was a picture of Dean when he was only four years old, holding a baby. From behind him, a woman was hugging him in which Sam could assume was Dean's mother. The woman was pretty; she had blonde hair and blue eyes, the woman also looked really cheerful, especially around her son. A man stood next to Dean's mother, as he had a type of twinkle in his eye. He also had brown hair and brown eyes, two things that Dean didn't actually have. He flipped the picture frame over and opened the back. In the back of the picture there was a set of words that appeared on the back.

The Winchesters: John, Mary, Sam and Dean. Sam tried not to think about the connection between the brown hair and brown eyes with him. He had similar eyes to John, which was something he had not expected. He knew he was adopted and knew that his parents found him in their stroller, crying. At first, Sam thought that maybe he and Dean were related. They gave off that vibe, but that thought was pushed aside, since there was no way he had a brother. His parents even mentioned it a few times and could not find Sam's biological parents but couldn't find a smidge, so rather they raised him as their own. One thing led to another, and Sam found himself in law school and finally landing with the FBI, where he learned about a string of robberies that put Dean Winchester on the spot. Sam learned more about himself, but didn't know what was true and what wasn't. He was lucky enough to learn the reasons behind Dean stealing. Foremost, Sam learned Dean had a brother who he left in a stroller. Sam didn't have time to think much about it considering the bedroom door opened. Quickly, Sam placed the photo back in the frame and set it down on the table.

"Well?" Sam said.

"Your not going to give up, are you?"

"Why would I do that? So you could escape again?"

"I don't know, I was just thinking," Dean responded. "You were right, someone stole the pearl and if it's not found, things could go terrible. I guess we have to work," Dean gagged a little. "Together."

"Before we do, do you remember anything that happened before your brother got snagged?" Dean narrowed his eyes. Sam could tell that talking about his brother was something that he never did and didn't quite trust anyone else.

"Let's just go," Dean said. "I don't want to talk about it." without saying another word, Sam and Dean walked out of the beach house.
