"Hey, Logan? Have you ever seen him battle before?" Elaine asked.

"No, I haven't. Crimson is a hot-headed guy who acts before thinking, so his batting style is probably no different," Logan replied.

"Hey!" Crimson shouted, looking at Logan, who rolled his eyes."You pay attention close attention, Log because this is a glimpse of what I'll do to you," He stated.

"Just that you know," Brock said, getting Crimson attention."A Pokemon gym is a lot different from a regular Pokemon battle. Are you sure you have what it takes?"

"Of course! Enough talking, and let's battle," Crismon said.

"Well, if you insist. Go, Geodude!" Brock shouted.

"Geodude!"

"A Rock type. Alright, the perfect chance to use my new Pokemon. Let's go, Mankey!" Crismon shouted, throwing a Pokeball.

"Mankey!"

"Let's see," Logan said, pulling out his Pokedex.

[Mankey, the Pig Monkey Pokemon. An agile Pokemon that lives in trees. It angers easily and will not hesitate to attack anything.]

"A hot-headed Pokemon for a trainer like Crismon is a perfect match," Logan stated.

"Mankey, use Karate Chop!" Crismon commanded.

The pig Pokemon charges in to deliver a downward chop.

"Geodude, catch it!" Brock ordered.

Geodude uses its hands to grab Mankey's arm.

"Mankey, use your free hand and use Furry Swipes!"

Mankey frantically starts to scratch Geodude but has no effect.

"It's going to take a lot more than that if you want to have a chance at defeating Geodude," Brock stated.

"Oh, I know that. Now Low Kick!" Crimson commanded. Mankey kicks Geodude, which hurts a bit."That right. Keep it up!" He commanded.

Mankey repeatedly kept kicking, which made Geodude let go of its arm.

"Now finish this with Karate Chop!" Crismon shouted, clenching his fist.

Mankey lands a direct hit on Geodude's head, knocking it out.

"He won and real quick, too," Elaine said, impressed.

"Yeah, Crimson, sharper than I thought," Logan said.

"Alright, Mankey!" Crismon cheered happily.

"Mankey!" Mankey cried out just as happy.

"Geodude, return," Brock called back his fainted Geodude."Thank you, Geodude. Now Onix, go!"He said he was sending out his next pokemon.

"An Onix," Logan said, staring at the giant rock snake in surprise.

[Onix, the Rock Snake Pokemon. It burrows at high speed in search of food. The tunnels it leaves are used as homes by Diglett.]

"Let's keep this momentum going. Mankey, Karate Chop!"

Mankey cried out, ready to attack Onix.

"Onix, use Tackle!" Brock ordered.

Onix charged and knocked Mankey out of the arena and into the wall. It slid down, defeated.

"Mankey!"Crimson cried out.

"Alright, now I'm mad. Alright, go, Fennekin!" Crimson shouted, sending out a cute little fox pokemon.

"Fen!"

"So he picked that as his starter Pokemon. I probably would have gone with the grass type if I didn't have Ruby," Logan said, looking at Ruby lying beside his leg.

"So that the Fire-type starter from your home region?" Elaine asked.

Logan nodded and took out his pokedex again.

[Fennekin, the Fox Pokemon. Eating twigs fills it with energy, and its roomy ears give a vent to air hotter than 390 degrees Fahrenheit.]

"Taking it from your Pokemon is your starter from your home region; the booking said Crismon from Kalos," Brock commented."From another region or not, a Fire-type still stands no chance against a Rock-type."

"We'll see about that. Fennekin use Flame Charge!" Crimson shouted.

Fennekin charged forwards, surrounded by flames, and slammed into Onix but didn't do much damage.

"You think you can beat Onix?" Brock asked.

"We're not finished. Fennekin, use Grass Knot!" Crimson commanded as Fennkin looked at Onix, and they sent it tumbling down with a knot of grass underneath.

"Fennekin can use Grass knot?" Logan questioned, surprised.

"Onix!" Brock gasped.

"What do you think of that?" Crismon asked."Now Fennkin has launched an Ember!"

Fennkin fires an Ember, only for Onix to bat it away with its tail.

"He made up for his Pokemon disadvantage in type but having it learn moves that work against the opposite type. I heard about doing that from my parents," Logan said, intrigued by the battle even more.

"Fennkin Grass knot one more time!"

Fennkin ran over towards Onix.

"Onix, stop it with Bind!"

Onix moved its tail to grab Fennkin, only for it to avoid its tail and place its paws underneath Onix as a knot of grass hit its tail, toppling or over.

"Onix, no!"

"He won," Logan said.

"Yeah! Way to go, Fennkin!" Crimson shouted.

"Fen!" Fennkin cheered.

"Not bad. As proof you won at the Pewter City Gym, I give you the Boulder Badge," Brock said as he presented Crimson his badge.

"Aw yeah!"

"That was such a great battle. I wasn't sure at the beginning, but Crimson is really good trainer," Elaine said.

"Yeah. He sure is," Logan said, impressed by not only Crimson battling but Brock as well.

The three trainers were now outside of the gym.

"See that Log? That's how you win a gym battle. Guess we know now who is closer to getting into the Indigo League. Just try to keep up," He said confidently.

"Wow, you sure are modest," Elaine said sarcastically.

"Lit," Ruby said.

"Well, I'll be heading to Cerulean City now. I hope you win your match, Log. It would be dull not to have any real competition," Crimson said, running off for the next city.

"He a strange guy, but not a bad one, but Crimson right Gym battles are challenging. So I need to be ready, especially if my dream will come true," Logan said with narrow eyes.

"Well, you know I will be willing to help you even if battles aren't my thing," Elaine said.

"Eevee!" Eevee said in agreement.

"Thanks; I'm going to call my mom and then Professor Oak to switch out Sora for my Bellsprout," Logan said, heading to the Pokemon Center with Elaine.

Logan was now sitting at the phone ringing for a few minutes before his mother appeared on the screen.

"Hello, son," She greeted.

"Hi, Mom. I made it to Pewter City and will be taking on my first Gym battle," He said.

"Pewter City, nice seems you're doing well so far," She said.

"Yeah, thought Crimson caught me by surprise. He was quite the battler though I didn't realize he was in Kanto," Logan said.

"Not surprisingly, he is there. You two always had a rivalry," She said, laughing."So how is the egg I gave you for your birthday?" She asked.

"It's good it hasn't hatched," Logan said, holding the egg."Through Nurse Joy says it clo-"He paused as the egg started glowing.

"Looks like it's time," She said, looking at the glowing egg.

Logan's eyes widened as he saw a familiar pokemon with a blue cap-looking head with orange.

"Ah, shiny Ralts," He said, surprised.

"That right. I had a feeling my Gardevoir egg was a shiny Ralts based on the coloring," She said."It doesn't happen often, but sometimes egg colors change when a shiny is going to hatch."

"Amazing best birthday gift Mom," Logan said, smiling.

"I know how much you like Ralts, so I gave you the egg. Can't wait to see what you evolve it into," She said.

"Well, I guess it depends on the gender anyway; talk to you after my battle tomorrow," Logan said, taping a Pokeball on Ralts head and catching it as his Pokeball vanished to Professor Oak's lab.

"Alright, looks like you caught a good amount of Pokemon if your Pokeball was transported."

"Yes, I have nine now, including Ruby, who, with my new travel partner eating."

"You got a travel partner, nice; better introduce me to them next time. Have a good evening."

Logan ended the call and contacted Professor Oak with a call who was impressed with him getting another shiny Pokemon before sending him Bellsprout for Doduo.

Soon as that was done, he joined Elaine for dinner before going to their room to get a good night's sleep for tomorrow's gym battle.

"After watching Crimson Gym battle. Logan called his mom, telling her he made it to Pewter City when his egg hatched into a shiny Ralts. He then calls Professor Oak to transfer Doduo for Bellsprout before heading off to bed for the night," The Narrator said.
