S1 > 02: Route 1 & Mysterious Pokemon
After receiving his new Pokémon Ruby the Torchic from Professor Oak, we now find our hero Austin and his little sister walking through Route 1 to see what kind of Pokemon catches his eye.
"Wow, look at all the Pidgey and even the Mankey!" Emily said in awe, looking at the Pidgey flying around and the Mankey in the tree eating fruit.
Austin chuckled. "We're in Route 1, Emily, of course there, Pidgey and Mankey through there harder to find. There is also Spearow around here. I wouldn't mind catching one, but of course, they can be pretty dangerous," Austin stated.
Emily winced. "Yeah, good call." She remembered hearing stories from her father on how Spearow had flown in flocks attacking people. "Hey, big brother, can we take a break for lunch?" He asked.
"Sure, let's go eat by this river nearby. I need to catch a water-type Pokemon for the Pewter City gym," Austin said, looking at the map in his hand and then at Ruby, who was a fire type and wasn't a good match for a rock-type gym.
"Awesome, I hope it's a cool water type!" Emily said, smiling.
Austin chuckled as he and Emily walked off into the direction of the river stream he found located on his map.
~•~
They soon arrived at a beautiful stream where the water was flowing smoothly. Austin then began to make sandwiches and rice balls for lunch. Once everything was good to go, he headed Emily a plate and grabbed his own before pulling out a red fishing rod with an Eevee lure on it.
"Here you go, Ruby," He said, passing his Torchic a bowl of Pokemon food.
"Tor, chic!" Ruby said before eating her Pokemon food.
"Hey, big bro, when do you think your Pokemon egg will hatch?" Emily asked, eating one of her rice balls
"I don't, but when we get to Viridian city, Nurse joy can take a look and tell me how close it is to hatching," Austin said, finishing up the last of his lunch before heading over to the river with Ruby to do some fishing.
"Ruby, let's get us a new team member," Austin said, looking at Torchic as he cast his fishing rod.
While Austin was waiting for a Pokemon to hook onto his rod, his sister used a small blanket to rub the egg to warm it up, trying to get it to hatch.
After a couple of minutes, Austin finally felt a bite on the fishing line. Austin smiled as he started to reel the Pokemon in. "I wonder what Pokemon it is," He said as he continued to reel it in.
Splash!
A small goldfish Pokemon came out.
"Gold."
"Goldeen," Austin said, scanning the Pokemon with his pokedex.
"Goldeen, the Goldfish Pokemon. Its tail fin billows like an elegant ballroom dress giving it the nickname of the Water Queen. When It is time for them to lay eggs, they can be seen swimming up rivers and falls in large groups.
"Goldeen interesting," Austin said, putting away the pokedex. "Alright, Ruby, let's get us a Goldeen."
"Torchic!" Ruby cried, getting in a battle stance.
"Alright, Ruby, let's start with a Scratch!"
"Torc!" Ruby ran towards Goldeen with its claws out, using them to Scratch Goldeen.
Goldeen shook it off and opened its mouth, and out came clear bubbles.
"A Bubble Attack, I see. Ruby pop those bubbles with Peck, then use it again to hit Goldeen."
"Torchic!" Ruby jumped and popped the bubbles with Peck. Therefore used it again, this time hitting Goldeen.
"Gold! Goldeen!" Goldern exclaimed as the attack hit it, falling backward with swirling eyes.
"Alright, Pokeball, go!" He threw the Pokeball at the fallen unconscious Pokemon.
The Pokeball hit the Goldeen as it was sucked in. The Pokeball shook three times until it clicked, signaling he caught Goldeen.
Austin smoked as he ran to pick up the Pokeball of his newly caught Pokemon. "Sweet, I got a Goldeen now. Now I have a suitable water type for the gym, but it is not the best on land."
"Torchic!" Ruby cheered, happy to have a new friend.
"Okay, let's go and show Emily," He said as he picked up his fishing rod and headed back to where his little sister was.
~•~
After meeting back up with his little sister Emily, he began packing up everything to continue their journey to Viridian City. With the help of his sister, he got the job done quickly.
"Now Ruby, return," He said, returning his Torchic to her Pokeball.
As they were walking away from the forest area, they continued to walk the pathway to towards the city.
Soon the clouds began to darken as the rain started to fall. Austin pulled out a raincoat from his bag, put it over his clothes, and then took one out of Emily's bag and put it on over her clothes.
The two siblings then continued on their way to Viridian City. They stopped walking when his sister noticed something on the ground.
"Hey, Emily, what the matter?" He asked.
"Look up there," She said, pointing to a tree where he saw a Spearow looking at him.
"Hey there, buddy, what going on?" Austin asked calmly, not wanting to upset the Spearow.
"Spearow!" The Spearow cried out, pointing a wing at Austin, and it flew down in front of him.
"Oh, you want to come with me?"
"Spear," Spearow nodded.
"Okay, Pokeball, go!" He said, throwing a Pokeball at the Spearow.
The Pokeball shook three times until it clicked, signaling Spearow was caught.
"Awesome, you're second catch!" Emily cheered as her brother grabbed the Pokeball containing his new Spearow.
The two siblings then continued going down the pathway.
After a couple of more miles of walking, they could see the city wasn't much farther.
The sky started to clear up.
Austin and Emily looked up at the sky as it cleared up and saw that there was a rainbow.
"Wow, there's a rainbow!" Emily smiled.
"Yeah."
A strange cry was heard, and Austin noticed a Pokemon that resembled a Phoenix and peacock. Its color was gold or a golden yellow glow with its long tails as it flew, leaving a trail of littering and rainbow behind.
"A Pokemon, let's see," Austin said, pulling out his pokedex and scanning the pokemon.
"Ho-Oh, The Rainbow Pokemon. A legend says that its body glows in seven colors. A rainbow is said to form behind it when it files. It will reveal itself before a pure-hearted trainer by shining its bright Rainbow color wings."
"Amazing," Emily said, listening to the pokedex.
"Agree."
They continued to watch the world Pokemon fly towards Rainbow, as they noticed something glittering was falling in front of Austin. He grabbed it and saw it was a rainbow feather that must have come from Ho-Oh.
"Looks like Ho-Oh left me a gift," He said, tucking the feather away in his bag side pocket with his pokedex.
"Well, time to go!" Emily grinned.
Austin chuckled as they continued down the road to Viridian City.
"After both Dalton siblings witnesses the spectacular sighting of Ho-Oh flying past. They now continueed towards Viridian city, where more adventure awaited them.
To be continued.
I hope you enjoy this chapter. He has caught two new Pokemon so far. He will get a few Pokemon that are the same as the ones Ash got, but they won't necessarily be his primary team of Pokemon. He will still get Chamander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur still.
Another thing Brock will travel with him, but someone else might replace Misty as his travel partner. The last thing is don't forget to vote for his love interest. Emily will get one when she is older.
Anyway, thanks for reading!
