Second base: Negotiations and baked treats

A good hour later, Liana was now standing in front of a lavish building, and she stared for a few seconds before she stepped inside. The guards and employees in that building all bowed politely as she got in.

"Good morning, Miss Quinn!"

Liana smiled at the employee and walked towards the elevator to go to the 56th floor where her fiancée 's office is. Once the elevator door closed, she released a deep breath and leaned on the elevator wall, "Just act normal. If he doesn't want to then I'm fine with it. Yeah... but...why the heck am I so nervous!!"

The elevator signaled stopping at the fifty-sixth floor, mechanically she walked out and then found herself staring at Orion's office door. "This is it... now or never."

Liana opened the door as calmly as she can and made her way to her fiancée's office, "Ori... Orion?"

He found him talking with his secretary at that moment and Liana felt the overwhelming presence of the man she loves while seriously doing his work and she unconsciously smiled. Xander noticed the girl on the doorway first and he shot her a bright smile, "morning Miss Liana! Haven't seen you in a while, you're getting prettier by the day!"

Orion snorted as he signed a piece from the high stack on his side, "shut it Alexander. It's too early for your flirting. Little panda, I'm a little busy... can you wait a bit?"

"Haha.... Getting jealous already Boss? I was just complimenting her."

Orion was about to retort but he was beaten to it by Liana who had already come in, "Oh he isn't jealous at all... that's pretty much impossible."

*Innocent grin* "Sorry for interrupting your work, Xander...Ori-er...Orion. I'll just wait until you guys finish."

Xander watched as Liana bowed and walked away, "aw... only if she wasn't your fiancée boss, I would have done everything to make her mine."

"I told you to shut it, Xander. Stop ogling Liana. Here, I've signed everything. Compile those and pass them to Kier. I'll head to the meeting in a bit."

"Yes boss." Xander grinned and carried the large stack before walking out of the door.

Liana leaned on the couch and sighed, "I've been doing the same thing for years... I wonder why I never got tired of it."

"What didn't you get tired of?"

She sat straight and Orion plopped beside her on the couch waiting for her answer, "Uh er... eating chicken...?"

Orion ruffled Liana's hair and chuckled, "of course little panda... chicken is your everything..."

"Not really... you're much more important than chicken to me."

Orion stilled for a bit and then tapped Liana's cheek, "haha, of course I know I'm awesome... I-um have a meeting in a bit. I'm sorry I haven't been spending time with you. Do you want me to buy you chicken or ice cream?"

Liana shook her head and stood, "I'm way past 10 to be offered treats. Anyway, I didn't intend to stay long... say, are you free tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow?"

"Yeah... if you are, I would like to rent you for one whole day. We'll spend time just the two of us just like we did before we were engaged. It is a Friday so it should be okay right?"

Orion rubbed his chin as if thinking deeply and Liana sighed, "I won't bother you anymore if you agree... and I won't call you Racoonhead, you have my word. How about it?"

Orion laughed and ruffled Liana's hair, "you would make a good businesswoman someday. I'm sure Uncle Drake would be glad."

"You know I don't intend to take over our company... that is why my brother is training there instead of me."

"Come to think of it... you never told me what you wanted to do. Lucian wanted to be a doctor before didn't he?"

*nods* "yeah he did... but things didn't go as planned so he shifted. As for mine, I haven't fully decided what I want. I thought I had something concrete that I just had to follow when we were younger but things happened. I'm excited about it though probably more than I think I would... "

The two then heard a knock on the door and Xander's voice followed, "Boss... someone named Kim Yoorim called and said she couldn't contact your cellphone, but she will wait for your call."

*Wide grin*"Thanks! I'll call her right back."

Liana stiffened a bit at the mention of the familiar name but the one beside her did not notice, "Uhm...anyway, I don't want to bother you any longer. I know you're busy. I just needed your answer to my offer."

The young director chuckled," offer huh? Why so formal? And of course, you know I'll always make time for my little panda."

Orion reached to touch Liana's cheek, but she abruptly stood and twirled a little, so she became out of the man's reach, "right! Um...well then... let's meet at our..." *pause* "...at the large tree in your garden at 8 in the morning. See you director Albrecht..."

Liana gave a small salute and rushed out of the door after a last wave leaving Orion who glanced at the hand that was supposed to touch Liana's cheek, "..."

Just as she was about to reach the parking area where her car is, her cellphone rang and she smiled as she answered,

"Hello? Luce? Yeah, he agreed. "

"Lia, are you really going through with this? Can't you just tell him you are cancelling the engagement and be done with it?"

Liana released a deep breath and shuffled her feet, "Luce... I'm doing this for myself and for no one else. I just wanted to have more memories before everything ends."

"I still think it's stupid but you know I'll support whatever you want to do. Ah, a letter from Beijing has arrived."

Her smile dimmed as she opened her car door and slipped inside, "thank you! I suppose things are going my way for once. So maybe... this is the best choice after all."

"What is in that letter? I don't think you told me anything about it."

She slipped in her Bluetooth headset and started the engine, "it's a surprise! You will know on Saturday. I'll see you at the house. I'll be heading to the grocery to buy stuff we'll need tomorrow."

"I'll meet you there. I have finished the papers dad gave me this morning and I'm bored here in the office."

*chuckle* "all right... I'll see you in a bit. Don't bring your car. I'm driving mine."

"Oh crap. Can't I bring my car? I don't have anti dizziness pills..."

Liana smirked at the helpless voice of his older twin, "I can practically see you pouting Luce... but the answer is no. I'll try to drive slowly today for you okay? Just get your butt there because I need to be home in a few hours to catch up on my beauty sleep."

"... Lia. If you do get any more beautiful, people will start thinking you are a goddess."

*pause* "Luce... how many times do I have to tell you not to use those pick up lines on me?"

"B- but there's no one else I can practice them on. I tried it on your friend and she laughed."

"Stop pouting! Try it on Key or Jay, I don't think they would mind. Don't try it on the two youngest cause Trace is too pure and Michael will just glare at you."

*sigh* "Although I think that pick up line was quite good. It would probably work with other people."

Call it twin's intuition but Liana knew she had already lifted her twin's bad mood, "really? I knew I'm good at this!!"

*chuckle* "yeah yeah... I'll see you later Luce. Love you!"

"Love you too twinnie"

----Early next day---

Drake scratched his head and trudged slowly to the kitchen to see his youngest child busy cutting ingredients, "princess? Why are you up so early?"

"Ah... good morning dad! Why are you already up? Or is it you haven't slept yet?"

Drake ruffled his daughter's hair before getting himself a glass of water, "you know me sweetheart...."

Liana sighed and continued chopping the carrots for the dish she will be cooking, "Dad, I know that the company is important to you and mom but please take care of your health. It worries me that you might get sick."

"I'll be okay child don't worry. I must work a bit harder for the next few days so I can go on the promised vacation we planned. Remember about the trip to Australia your mother was gushing about last month?"

"You mean... you really would take mom to the Sydney Opera House?!"

Drake hurriedly clamped a hand over Liana's mouth, "ssssh!!!!!! I haven't told your mother yet! Don't just blabber it out while it isn't ready yet!"

Liana clawed a bit at her father's hand and Drake released his turned blue daughter who hissed "dad, did you seriously want to kill me?"

Drake waved a hand in front of his face and sweat dropped, "of course not princess! I'm sorry honey."

"It's okay, I understand. I'm sure mom will love that surprise... do you want some tarts? I made a lot."

The CEO grinned as he took a piece of the mango tart, "why are you baking this early anyway?"

Liana smiled sheepishly and scratched her cheek, "I'm preparing for a picnic with Orion. He agreed to spend the whole day with me today so I want to give him the best for our first and last formal date!"

Drake popped the bite size tart in his mouth and chewed, face void of any reaction. Liana thought the conversation was over so she continued preparing the ingredients for the meals as silent as she can when her father moved and she felt familiar warmth on her head, "my precious princess... cry if you must. It will break my heart to see you cry but if it would bring back the sparkle in your eyes, I would understand."

"But dad I don't..."

Drake merely smiled at the dumbfounded expression on her youngest's face... to everyone she may already be a grown up but she will forever be her little princess, "I am your father Liana... you can lie to everyone except to us who knows you the best."

From the work room, Liana heard her mother's voice and Drake responded to tell Amelie where he is..."that vacation... it's a secret okay? Oh and piece of advice, enjoy the present and look forward to tomorrow, honey."

Liana smiled, "thank you dad...I love you."

Drake mouthed 'I love you too' before he made his way back to his waiting wife. The younger Quinn sighed as she finished her preparations... muttering softly," if only I have any more tears to shed dad... I would have already cried..." *sigh*

Just as the clock struck five thirty in the morning, Liana took out the last of the recipes she planned to cook. At that same time, her twin brother came straying to the kitchen with four other boys..."hmm... smells delicious...."

*chuckle* "what's with the early sniffing?"

Lucian back hugged his younger twin and breathed deeply, "we were led here by our noses... this would probably be the most you have cooked..."

Trace and Michael sat on the stools in front of Liana... both staring at the variation of food set at the table... Jaiden and Key stood beside the two youngest looking just as interested in the cooked meals.

"Lia, can I have a cookie?"

"Can I have a piece of that apple pie?"

"I want a tart."

Liana nodded and smiled at the eager faces of Trace, Michael and Key..."sure... please get some plates so I can give you some. I really made a lot so I can give some to everyone here. How about you Jay? Is there anything you want to eat? "

Jaiden who grinned replied, "Can I have you then?"

Liana blushed beet red and Jaiden was met with a flying spatula and a chick designed slipper, "Ow! What was that for?"

Lucian and Key glared and spoke at the same time, "that's for being a pervert. Pervert!"

Liana awkwardly laughed and patted the hands of her twin that was still on her waist, "um... I'm sorry I'm not included in the choices so it's not possible. Plum pudding?"

Jaiden smiled again, "thank you dear."

"You're welcome. You all go to the dining area to eat those. I need to finish packing the food before I meet Orion."

Jaiden was about to oppose when Lucian pushed him outside lightly after kissing his sister's cheek. Key nodded and ushered the two younger ones out with a promise of playing video games.

Liana released a deep sigh and started arranging the picnic basket, "Enjoy the present and look forward to tomorrow... right."
