Elijah was in the library thinking about the moment he shared with Elena the other day and how he almost give into the temptation of kissing Elena Gilbert. They've been growing closer and closer ever since they moved to New Orleans and it helped the fact she wanted him to train her to protect herself. Suddenly the sound of a door opening interrupt his thoughts.

"Sorry to interrupt you but something happened."

"Is everything alright? Is there something wrong with the baby?" Elijah asked concerned.

"No. The baby is fine. It was Elena." Caroline sighed.

"Elena? What happened to Elena? She seemed alright when I last saw her." Elijah asked concerned with Elena.

"Klaus for some reason decided to get a nurse and take out some of her blood. I'm gonna have a serious conversation with him. And I think you should be with Elena and help her. She was barely awake. I think she will need vampire blood." Caroline said.

"Of course. I'm going to ensure that Elena remains safe. I apologize for my brother's behavior and reckless decision." Elijah said and Caroline nodded, then took him to Elena's room, seeing Elena laying down still barely conscious and Klaus using his poker face.

"You. Me. Bedroom. Now!" Caroline said upset and Klaus followed her.

If he wasn't so concerned about Elena, he would be wondering how Caroline is able to talk in that way with Klaus and still be alive and not get punished, since Klaus is not a person who forgives easily. But Elena was almost unconscious and right now that was all he could focus on.

"Elena, don't close your eyes."

"I'm really tired, Elijah..." Elena said, gathering all her strength to say something back to him.

"Drink my blood." Elijah said.

"No... I don't want the risk of turning." Elena said because she was scared of what it would be if she became a vampire and wondered if it would change her for the worst, that was one of the reasons why she hold on her humanity so badly.

"I don't want the risk of losing you." Elijah said and bite his wrist, then made her drink it.

"Why did you do that?" Elena asked upset, a couple of minutes after he made her drink his blood.

"Because you were very weak and you were almost unconscious."

"So...?" Elena asked, making Elijah wonder what made her not care too much about her life.

"So you could have died!" Elijah said, not wanting to imagine what would be if he wouldn't have given her his blood.

"It's better than drinking your blood!" Elena said, making Elijah look at her confused, making her sight and say. "I'm sorry. Don't take me the wrong way. I'm not in a depressive state where I wanna die or anything like that. I just... I like being human. I don't like have vampire blood on my system because then something might happen and I might turn and... I'm not sure if I would be a good vampire or even if I want to be a vampire."

"I understand. One of the things I admire so much about you is how much you hold on to your humanity and how you keep fighting to staying human. It makes you a fighter... a warrior." Elijah said, making Elena blush.

"Thank you for giving me your blood. I'm sorry if I sounded ungrateful. I wasn't. I'm just..."

"I understand, Elena." Elijah cut her off and she smiled to him. "I'm going to leave now."

"What? Why?" Elena said, hating to sound needy.

"I am going to get you something for you to eat. You need to get your strength back." Elijah said and gave a peck on her forehead. "I'll be right back."

A few minutes after Elijah left the room, the door opened again, making Elena think it was Elijah but it was Caroline and Klaus.

"Hey..." Elena said, trying not to show fear and reminding herself that Caroline wouldn't let Klaus hurt her.

"Hey... How are you? You look better." Caroline said with a small smile.

"I'm okay. Aside the fact that minutes ago I was almost drained..." Elena said giving a look to Klaus, who looked annoyed.

"I believe the key word you're trying to hide is almost." Klaus said, making Caroline give him a look.

"I'm sorry for what happened. I had no idea Klaus was gonna do something like that." Caroline said and looked at Klaus. "Klaus also has something he would like to say."

"For what I was told, even if I had a great reason to do what I did and I'm the original hybrid so I should not..." Klaus started to say but then noticed Caroline's look, so he said. "I guess I could have done things differently and I already promised Caroline I won't do anything like this again."

"I thought not doing something like this was in the Pact you two made." Elena said, crossing her arms, not sure if she should believe in his promises.

"Yes, it was." Caroline said giving a look to Klaus.

"In my defense, something unplanned happened and, not that I need to explain anything to you but, I made a decision with the thought of protecting my child." Klaus said.

"And..." Caroline said.

"And what?" Klaus asked.

"You know what."

"I basically already said it." Klaus said and Caroline gave him a look so Klaus sighed then looked at Elena and whispered so low that was barely audible. "I'm sorry."

"What?" Elena asked, truly not hearing what he said.

"I'm sorry." Klaus said a bit louder.

"For...?" Caroline asked.

"You're making this impossible, Caroline." Klaus said frustrated.

"Say it!" Caroline said in a demanding tone.

"Elena, I'm sorry for taking your blood. It was... wrong... and reckless. And that's not the way to treat others... And I'll try to improve on that." Klaus said not very happy with what Caroline made him agree on doing, he never thought someone would be able to make him apologize for things he has done but Caroline was unlike any other person he ever met and made him feel things that no one has ever made him feel.
