It's been a few weeks since Tyler called upon this alpha, he's been acting different ever since. He's a bit skittish, jumps when his name is called or at loud noises. Nothing has changed, the cattle are still dying. Not three like normal, every three days we lose one. It's picked apart in the field, they go for the elder or sick ones. The traps aren't doing a thing, they're always disarmed when we wake up in the morning. "Hey! Stop zoning out Evan!" The Jarl said as he pushed me from behind onto the ground. I looked up at him, "You're working the night shift, you'll be watching the cattle from now on until this situation is gone" He looked down at me with a dirty smirk like he always does. "What? Why not one of the guards? They'll be able to do something unlike me. Like you said I'm weak so why me?" I asked as I stood up and brushed the dirt off of me. He gave me a shrug. Of course he couldn't care less if I died. "You'll just do it or you won't get your pay. You can starve for all I care." He walked away, didn't look back at all. I hate the shit he makes me do, it's terrible.

I walked out towards the cattle field, one of the trap makers is going to show me how to work the trap incase a cow gets trapped. "You must be Evan! My name is Craig, I know it's a weird name. Parents were crazy, this way" Craig said as he led me into the field towards a giant trap with teeth on it. "The trap is huge, what kind of animals could get stuck in this?" I asked as I crouched down and giving it a good look. He shrugged and grabbed a stick. "A bear possibly" He touched the middle of the trap ever so slightly. It snapped closed in a blink of an eye. "So, what do you call it?" I asked as I looked up at him. "A bear trap" He looked at me and smiled slightly. "So to disarm it you of course touch the middle but to take it off of an animal like a cow you grab the sides and pull with all your might. It hurts really bad when you get caught to the cattle will make noise of stuck. If it catches whatever is killing your cattle then leave it but make sure it doesn't get out. Got it?" He opened the trap and set it again, I nodded at him and watched him set it up. This is going to be some rough nights, I barely sleep as it is.

I sat by the hay stacks by the barn, it's really dark out. Only light I have is the moon's that peaks through the trees. The cattle are sleeping, all spread out. One of the small cows has taken a liking to me, she doesn't leave me alone. I named her Lucy, don't know why I did but I did. "Hey!" Tyler shouted as he grabbed my arm. I screamed and jumped high as I looked at him. "Quiet! Don't want people to think something is wrong" Tyler chuckled as he plopped onto the hay stack next to me. "Don't scare me like that, why are you out here, I thought it was supposed to be me only?" I asked as I looked at the cattle once again. He sighed and turned his attention to the cattle. "It is but I thought you'd want some company and if you want to sleep a bit I could take over. And if we do catch something or see anything I wan't to witness it besides hearing stories" He was excited for this, I don't know how he is.

It's been a few hours, I let Tyler sleep. It's possibly a bit before dawn, I just hope someone comes to take my spot soon. I rested my head back to look up at the stars, counting them slowly to take my mind off of this. As I was counting I heard a snap and a call of distress from... a wolf? I quickly sat up and saw cattle running towards me. I quickly shook Tyler awake. "Something triggered the trap and the cattle are running at us! We have to move before we get trampled." I stood him up quick and got us off the hay. We tried to open the gate but the cattle ran into us crushing the gate.

We fell to the ground, the painful kicks and stomps landed on our hard. Tyler was groaning in pain, after the cows were loose in the town I looked down the corral and saw 4 huge ass wolves walking towards us. One of them was trapped, it was the smallest of them. I quickly stood up and tried to grab Tyler. I put my hand out to his. Before he could grab my hand one of the wolves jumped between us and hovered over Tyler. I jumped back and looked around for a weapon of some sort. I quickly grabbed a shovel and swung with all of my power and hit the wolf in the side of the head breaking the mettle of the shovel off. The wolf stumbled off of Tyler and whined as it ran behind the biggest wolf. "Tyler, go get the guards.. Now!" I shouted as he got up. He took off fast down the street leaving me. The biggest wolf got close to me, the wolf stopped a few feet from me. I held the sharp end of the wood from the shovel towards the wolf. The wolf slowly started to circle me, I kept my eyes on him the entire time. In a second he lunged at me, I stepped forward and wrapped my arms around the torso of the wolf and slammed him to the ground. My eyes widen, I know I'm strong but not that strong. This wolf is like three thousand pounds!

The wolf wiggled from my grip and pushed me away and stepped back as he growled at me. I looked at the trapped wolf and saw the other two wolves turn human. I dropped the shovel in shock and stepped back, "They're... real" I said as my voice cracked, I backed up fast. "Evan move!" Tyler shouted as guards ran towards us. I looked quick but the wolves were gone except for the trapped one. I ran towards the trapped wolf, "Turn human! They'll kill you if you are like this" I whispered to the wolf as I kneeled by the trap. I tried to pull it off, I slowly saw the fur turn into tan skin. I pulled the sides of the trap down setting free the now human. The human fell out of the trap and held his ankle, "Thank you" He whispered, I looked at him. He was small, black hair, brown eyes and olive skin. The guards ran over to us and pointed their bows at him. "No! It's okay... He's just a rouge human, probably trying to find shelter and hopped the fence to find food. Don't hurt him" I put my arm up and stood in front of him. "Besides he's wounded, if you let him go he won't get far and die from the infection that will grow" I continued as I watched the guard slowly lower their bows. "Fine" The head guard said as he looked at the guy. "He's a wimp like you, get you life together Evan" The guards turned and walked away.

I sighed in relief and turned to the guy, he stared at me with glowing honey eyes. "Thank you, alpha wouldn't be happy if he found out I was caught" He said slowly. I slowly nodded at him. "Yeah, you should probably head out so you can get fixed up" I took a deep breath. "Y-You can't tell anyone what you saw, if you do... The alpha will get you, hunt you down. You can't hide from him" The guy slowly started to back up. My life isn't getting any better. I'm screwed.
