6. Pack is back
"We have to get to the clinic now"
Scott's words hung in the air, the pack heard enough to know there was trouble coming though, trouble that none of them were prepared for. How did things get this bad again in only a blink of an eye? Literally. Scott didn't know where to start, it's been a long time since he's actually had to leas his pack into battle that he forgot how. He was very mundane these days and honestly, he preferred the domestic life he and Malia built for themselves. Scott walked to the door and he grabbed his jacket and he slipped it on, he shared a look with Malia and then his eyes traveled to Stiles and Lydia, then to Braeden and Derek. They all couldn't come.
"Malia... Stay here with Lydia and Braeden. Stiles, Derek.. please come with me to the clinic?" Scott asked, probably a little too formal, he just didn't want to make commands towards people he hasn't seen in years, to people he wasn't even sure still wanted to be his pack. They were only here to help. To Scott's slight surprise, the two men nodded in agreement and wasted no time getting their own jackets on and saying goodbye to their women.
Stiles was a little reluctant to leave Lydia though, which was understandable. She was nearing her due date and he didn't want something to happen while he was away. Once she assured him that everything would be fine, he kissed her a final time before he left the house and made his way to Scott's car. The car ride to the vet clinic was quiet, too quiet, normally Stiles would be talking everyone's ear off but that wasn't the case this time. The three friends sat in a very uncomfortable silence that had an undertone of worry.
Once Scott made it to the clinic, he parked the car in his reserved spot and the three men got out and rushed inside. Kira was already tending to Liams wounds who was starting to regain his consciousness and the sounds that were spilling from his lips let everyone know he was more than aware of what was happening.
Liam started flailing, he was growling as Kira mixed the 9 herbs and she quickly looked to the men in the room. "A little help please? Hold him down!" She breathed and in seconds, all three men were at the table holding Liam down. Liam has always been strong, he was very strong so it took the three of them to hold him down without an issue. "Whatever you're about to do, hurry and do it. The pain is making him rabid." Derek said and he pressed his forearm against Liams chest to keep his upper half down so he wouldn't be able to lean up and nip at them.
Kira quickly got the herbs mixed and she scooped a good amount in her hands and covered each wound Liam had, in seconds, the herbs started to vaporize and soon, the herbs are gone and his wounds heal right up. Liam stops fighting and he lays still on the exam table, his breathing is labored though and he's so tired that he closed his eyes for a moment. The three men all look at each other for a moment before they slowly move away to give the young beta some space.
Derek walked over to the door and he leaned against the door frame and he crossed his arms over his chest. His jaw was pulsing and he was tapping his fingers against his arm. Scott sighed softly, he touched Liams forehead and he then turned his attention to Kira. It was time to ask questions.
"What exactly happened, Kira? I got Liams call, I heard a good lot of it. You were ambushed and I'm sorry I wasn't there and sent you out alone. How many were there? What exactly did they look like?" Scott asked. He had other of questions, probably too many, but he needed to know the answers to them even if she didn't know them all at the moment, he still needed to know.
Kira sighed softly and she walked the bowl of herbs over to the medical sink and she placed it inside the dip. She looked over at Scott and she crossed her arms over her chest and she shook her head. "They were demonic looking wolves, their eyes were bizarre, like something I've never seen before.. It was like they came from the ground or the shadows, they honestly were just kind of everywhere?" She asked aloud- hoping Liam would chime in but he didn't.
"I can only assume they're Lycaons sons." Kira murmured softly and Scott looked to Stiles who just shook his head and gave a displeased look.
"They're were clearly aiming to kill. Those wounds weren't just to scare you." Derek spoke up and he pushed himself off the wall and walked closer to the group. He of all people knew what the different claw and bite marks meant, Scott was always a little naive to the different ones. Even still, he didn't really know, then again, he hasn't had to know in years.
"They'll be back. I don't think it's a good idea splitting up anymore. We are stronger in numbers. You all know this." Liam finally spoke up and he sat up. He looked down at his body and he sighed in relief as he saw his wounds all healed up. He repositioned his body so he was now sitting on the edge of the exam table and he hopped off of it and he cleared his throat.
"We also need to start thinking smarter and like the pack that we were before." Stiles said and he looked at Scott but instead of keeping the scowl on his face that he's had for most of the time he's been in town, he gives his friend a reassuring smile as a way to boost the young alphas confidence. Stiles was always good at that.
"You're right. I'm having .. performance issues. I need to get it together before someone really gets hurt." Scott murmured and flashed the small group a crooked grin. Scott was hit with a sense of nostalgia, he remembered when he had similar issues, only that time the circumstances were a bit different, he had a little time to get his shit together. He didn't have time on his side this go around.
"Let's get back to the girls immediately. Tomorrow morning, we plot." Scott said and the group nodded in agreement before they all made their way back to Scott and Malias house. Hopefully after a good night's sleep, Scott would find the power within again to be the leader he once was, not only for himself, but for his friends, his family, his pack.
