If you've ever seen Steve's teeth, you'll know that they're a bit crooked. Or a lot crooked.
Darry and the rest of the gang all tried and tried to get Steve to get braces, but he kept saying he didn't want any. So that's why Darry made an apointment for Steve to get braces.

"Hey, Steve," Darry walked into the living room as Steve was eating a piece of cake while arguing with Two-Bit.

"Yeah?" He asked.

"Be ready by 12:30." He told him.

"Uh, why?" Steve said getting a bit nervous.

"You're getting braces." Steve's eyes widened.

"No! I can't Darry I don't need to get braces I think my teeth look perfect and-"

"Steve, have you seen your teeth?"

Steve sighed. He can't get out of this can he?

"Will they hurt?" Then Darry figured out why he didn't want to go. He was scared. Darry almost had to laugh at that because Soda's usually smart and cocky best friend was scared to braces.

"I promise Steve they don't hurt." Darry sorta lied. He didn't tell him his teeth would be sore after he got them. Steve nodded slowly.

12:30 came around and they drove to the dentist. His appointment didn't start until 1, so they made 10 minutes before.

They sat in the waiting room for what felt like hours until a dentist came out.

"Steve Randle?" She called out looking around. There were a lot of people there today, so she was busy.

"That's me," Steve held up his hand. She smiled.

"Come right this way, Steve." She smiled as he got up.

"You'll be fine." Darry patted his back before going back to reading a magazine on the table.

The dentist led Steve to a room with the same cliche chair that all dentist have.

"Just lay down here Steve and we'll take a look at your teeth." She said as she put on her mask and told him to open his mouth.

"Wow, have you been fighting a lot?" She chuckled.

"I got to rumbles." Steve told her. She just nodded. She looked just like a greaser, so it looked it she understood.

"Yeah, my boyfriend goes to those all the time."
She nodded.

"Ok, Steve I'm gonna go get the orthodontics and we'll get started."

She left the room and got him.

A dude came in and he looked like really scary.

"Hi, Steve," He smiled.

"My name is Dr. Roger and this is Dr. Andrea," He pointed to the dentist that originally took him in.

"We're gonna be the ones putting on your braces ok?" Steve was nervous but nodded anyway. Dr. Andrea put a hand on his knee.

"You're gonna be fine, Mr. Randle." She smiled before getting her tools ready.

It took a long time and Steve was scared the entire time because somethings did hurt him. His teeth must've been really sensitive.

When the put the braces on, Steve was relieved.

"You did great, Steve." Dr. Andrea smiled at him.

He got blue braces that made him look so cute.

Darry came and picked him up and they went home.

"How does your mouth feel?" Darry turned to face him at a red light.

"It hurts," Steve groaned. Darry laughed.

"Yeah, it's gonna hurt a little. Sorry, bud." He said.

They reached the house and got out.

"Stevie, let's the see the teeth fixers!" Two-Bit laughed.

He smiled and everyone gawked.

"Wow, Steve you're gonna get a lot of ladies." Sodapop nudged his shoulder.

They ate ice cream and made funny but not mean jokes about Steve's teeth.

"Thank you, Darry. I really appreciate it." Steve smiled.

"No problem, Steve."

Steve did get a lot of ladies.
