Soda was just casually walking down the street when he saw Steve approaching

"Hey, Stephen!" Soda yelled across the street.

That's when Steve tripped and fell.

"I'm ok, I'm ok," He assured Soda.

Just then they saw Dallas and Johnny coming along.

"I need you by my side. Don't know how I'll survive." Johnny told Dallas.

"With you by my side, I'll fight and defend." Dallas assured Johnny.

"And That's why I smile." Johnny smiled.

That's when Ponyboy came along with Darry and they greeted each other.

Ponyboy remembered when Dallas saved him from a soc.

"I never said thank you for that." Dallas just smiled.

They made it back to the Curtis house and stepped in.

Steve was complaining about being tired. He had been at the DX on full shift.

"I've been there all night. I've been there all day." He sighed laying on the couch.

There was a letter in the mail and Soda opened and it and broke down into tears. He informed the gang that he was getting drafted.

They all consoled him.

"Maybe I'm better off dead." Soda admitted crying.

The gang knew the fight had not started.

"Just follow the light in the darkness." Ponyboy said as he rubbed his back.

"Tell the world I'm coming home." Soda said as he stepped on the platform.

"I love you and I'll never leave your side." Darry said under his breath.

"He's gonna fight the good fight. The noble war." Two-Bit said.

Darry asked Ponyboy how he was feeling.
"Stuck in the same ol' melody of misery." Ponyboy had been missing Soda for a while.

When he came back, that was the best day of his life.

"I've been living my life in black and white no sleeping." Ponyboy told Soda because he wanted him.

"I would be lying if I said that I could live this life without you."

Soda felt a pang of sympathy.

The whole gang was happy he was back.

The gang asked how he survived. He told them their advice.

"Chase the light, when the world is getting darker."
