MATTIE POV:

It was summer and I was hanging out with the gang. I swear they were like family to me. They were all so sweet, and I loved them so much. I especially liked Sodapop. He was such a gentleman. He had that movie star grin that everyone describes. I can't help it. I like him. Alot. I'm not sure he likes me back though. I wear glasses and I sometimes feel insecure about that.

We were just hanging out at the Curtis house. Dallas was in Darry's arm chair and Soda was arm wrestling Steve. He eventually got up abd sat next to me. I felt butterflies as he said Hi to me and smiled before turning back to Steve.

Dallas suddenly looked at me. "Hey, Mattie," He smirked at me. "Or should I say four eyes?" He giggled. I frowned as he said this. Thankfully, no one else laughed.

"Dallas, knock it off. That's mean." Johnny scolded him. He just rolled his eyes.

"All I'm saying is that she looks really ridiculous looking through framed glass and-"

"That's enough Winston! You better shut your mouth before I come over and beat it in. So what if she has glasses? That doesn't make her any less of a person! They're to help her see! So why don't you pull your head out of your ass and shut up!"

I was in complete shock. I couldn't believe what he just said. I was thankful he just stood up for me. I just never heard him talk like that before.

Dallas rolled his eyes. "Says the guy who's only defending her because he likes her so much." Dallas bit back. What?! I thought.

"No, that's not true, I" Dallas cut him off.

"Really? Is that why you talked about her non stop a few days ago to Steve?" He raised a brow. I was in complete shock. The Sodapop Curtis likes me?! I was elated. I suddenly saw Soda burst out the door. "SODA!" I yelled chasing him. Dallas just giggled.

I finally caught him at the lot. He sat down and I did to completely out of breath. Both of us were catching our breath before I spoke up.

"Soda, what you said," I took another breath. "Was it true?" I had to know. He sighed.

"Yes, Mattie. It is true. I think you're amazing beatiful and everything that I could ever want in a girl. You have something about you that I've never seen in other girls. I don't think I could ever find another one like you." He smiled at me. I couldn't keep the smile off my face before I had a thought.

"Wait, how could you like me?" I asked. "There's so many other girls out there and you choose me? I'm sure you don't really like me." I admitted. He frowned.  "Would a guy who doesn't like you do this?" Before I could ask him what the hell he meant by that, I felt his soft heaven sent lips on mine. I was too shocked to do anything that I started to kiss back of course. He pulled away a few seconds later. I looked at him.

"Can we do that again?" I asked with a soft smile. He giggled.

"Why not?" And from that day on, we've been going strong.

I guess it all was true.
