The entire Curtis gang were off for summer break. It felt like such a long ass year and it was time to be free! It was really hot though.

"Hey, Darry you get off work at 12 tomorrow right?" Soda asked his older brother. He nodded. "Yeah, why?" He looked at him.
"I was thinking we could go to the pool when you get off. The one in down the street."
"Please, Dar!" Two-Bit mocked playfully how his brothers used to ask him for things.
"Fine but ya'll better be ready when I get back." "Yes!" They all cheered.

It was around 12 and Darry got back. He got into his bathing suit as long as everyone else and they headed out.

On the way, Two-Bit was telling everyone about how he's gonna do cannonballs if the Socs come and splash them when they're wearing their "decent" clothes since all they do is jump greasers and bully them.

"Ok, ya'll be on your best behavior. There are little kids around." Darry pointed at Dallas and Two-Bit." "You two I'm especially concerned about. No swearing no innappropiate jokes." He turned back around when he thought of something. "And most importantly, no mooning anyone." He remembered the last time they went to the beach.

Dallas pushed Steve into the pool then the entire gang.

Two-Bit liked the thrill of how it felt when he jumped in. So he did it over and over and over again.

"Two-Bit I suggest you wouldn't do that or you'll get water up your nose and it does not feel good." He rolled his eyes and said, "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, it can't hurt that bad." Poor boy didn't learn his lesson because the next time he jumped in, he got a sour look on his face and then Darry gave him the "Told you," look.

"What's wrong Two-Bit?" Darry asked. Even though he knew what was clearly wrong.
Two-Bit didn't even answer because he burst into tears. Darry pulled him out of the pool as everyone stared at them. An 18/2 boy and a 20 year old comforting him.

"Two-Bit calm down. It's just water. It'll go away. It won't stay like forever." He was crying so hard he started coughing and the water came out. He immediately felt better.

"See? I told you."

He got back in and all was good until

"Darry!" Darry looked over to see Dallas with that same sour face on him. Darry sighed and rolled his eyes.

"I tol you so." He muttered.
