How You Met

Hi, and welcome to the first Outsiders preference, 'How You Met'! I hope that you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoy writing it! Some of these chapters may be long, some may be short, but I hope you like them!

🧥💛🧥

Ponyboy - You had a special spot under a tree where you would go to have some alone time. It was nice and quiet. One day, just before sunset, you decided to go there to read a bit of the book you were currently in the middle of. But when you got there, you found a boy standing there. Not wanting to disturb him, you turned around to leave, but before you could go, the boy spoke.
"Um, hi..." he said.
You turned back around and waved awkwardly.
"Hi..."
"Did you, um... Why are you...?"
"I just came to read my book," you responded, "Th-this is my usual spot..."
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn-"
"It's fine. You can stay." you quickly said, "...I'l just be on my way..."
You once again turned to leave, but he once again stopped you.
"No. Stay," He said kindly, "Please..."
And that's how you met Ponyboy Curtis...

Johnny - You saw some soc boys that you knew from school about to beat up a greaser, as you were on your way home. You knew that you had to stop them. It was wrong for them to beat up the poor kid! You ran over, and tried to get them off the boy, but then they began attacking you instead. The boy tried to fight them, but then you all heard some guys shouting at the socs. When you looked over, there were more greasers coming. They beat up the mean socs, causing them to run off.

The other greasers, presumably the boy's friends, made sure that both of you were okay, then offered to walk you home. You accepted, sensing that they wouldn't do you any harm.
"I'm Johnny Cade, by the way." the boy said, shyly, then introduced his friends.
And that was how you and Johnny Cade became friends...

Soda - You huffed as you walked into a nearby gas station. You had been sent to buy a new exhaust flange gasket, and since your dad knew that the DX had auto parts, he sent you there to get him one.
"Hi!" a friendly voice said, when you walked in, "Is there anything I can help you with?"
You looked up and saw a boy. A particularly cute boy...
"Um, yes please." you replied, "I'm looking for an exhaust... exhaust something gasket..." you said, your cheeks heating up with embarrassment at forgetting what the part was called.
"An exhaust flange gasket?" the boy asked, smiling. Your heart skipped a beat.
"Yeah, uh, yes."
The boy found the part for you, and then went back behind the counter again.
"That'll be eighty-two cents" he said, and you handed him the money, and he handed you the small bag with the part and the receipt.
"Thanks!" you smiled as you walked out the door.
That certainly wouldn't be the last time you went there...

Dallas - You had been dragged to Buck's by some friends of yours. You didn't want to go, for various reasons, but they pulled you along anyways. Once there, your friends quickly abandoned you to go mingle. You had stood there, alone, for what seemed like forever, when suddenly a hand gripped your arm lightly.
"Hey, doll. What's a girl like you doing in a place like this?"
You looked at the source of the voice, and saw a greaser.
"I'm... with my friends..." you said, unsure if you should trust him. He let go of your arm, and moved in front of you.
"You gotta name?"
"I dunno, you got one?" you retorted without thinking.
"I'll give you mine, if I can get yours, doll."
"(Y/n)."
"Dallas," he smirked, "But you can call me Dally."
And that's how you met the infamous Dallas Winston...

Darry - You had gone to the store to buy groceries. It was a usual quiet trip, humming along with the music playing through the speakers as you gathered the items on your list. As you turned into the next isle, you nearly ran a man over with your buggy.
"Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry!"
"It's alright," the man said with a slight nod. You moved your buggy to the side and began to look at the shelves for what you needed. It just so happened that the man was standing right in front of the shelves you needed to look at. You tried to look around him without being in the way, but he noticed.
"Am I in the way?" he asked. It was sort of a dumb question. You both knew he was in the way. But nonetheless, you replied, "Oh, no, not really..."
You mentally facepalmed.
"I'm just looking at the green beans..." you tacked on.
"Oh, sorry," he said, moving out of the way so that you could look as well, "I can't figure out what's the difference between all the cans..." he admitted.  You held in a laugh at his dilemma. It was almost cute, the confused look on his face as he inspected the cans.
You and Darrel (as you found out his name was) ended up discussing canned goods of all things and decided to meet up once a week to do your shopping together.

Two-Bit - You were hanging out  with a couple of friends at the Dingo. The pair had gone to the bathroom, leaving you alone at the table. You twiddled your thumbs, slowly getting bored.
"What do we have here?"
You looked up to see a young man in a Mickey Mouse shirt.
"What's a pretty girl like you doing sitting here alone?"
"Oh, um, my friends went to the bathroom, that's all..."
"Ah, well, I'd like t' keep ya company while you wait," he said as he sat down. He turned to the passing waitress, "Hey Marg, could you bring two chocolate shakes over?"
The lady nodded with a smile, looking between the two of you with a certain look before walking back to the kitchen.
"I'm Two-Bit, by the way. I already know you. You're a princess, aren't ya? Come straight from a storybook I bet."
You gave a laugh at that and introduced yourself. The milkshakes came and Two-Bit kept you entertain until your friends finally came back. They had caught you with him and made it their mission to get you two together. Before you could even object, they had written down your phone number and  given it to him.
It seems this wouldn't be the last you'd talk to him...

Steve - You and Steve had actually been in the same class at school every year. You learned a bit about him through the years, but knew nothing of him outside of class. That was until a party that your friend invited you to. It was on the east side of town, so you were a bit apprehensive, but the peer pressure got the best of you and you ended up going anyways.
There were several people from school that you saw there, including Steve. But this wasn't the Steve you normally saw. He was a bit more wild. At school he goofed around, but he wasn't wild.
He hooped and hollard with some of his buddies. As he walked through he bumped into you. Thankfully there was a seat, which you ended up catching yourself on the arm of.
"Oh, hey! (Y/n), right? How'd you get here? I didn't figure you'd be over on this side?"
This was the most he'd ever talked to you and you were slightly stunned at the words dumped onto you.
"Cat got your tongue or somethin'?"
"S-sorry."
"Nothin' to be sorry 'bout."
And somehow a conversation commenced. Despite seeming a bit wild, Steve was a pretty chill guy to talk with. Maybe you had a new friend?
