Why does everyone hate Cherry?

Wtf. 

She's not a bad person. She's a coward. Big difference. She WANTED to be friends with Pony and see Johnny in the hospital, it said so in the book. She was just too scared about what everyone would think.

Will someone please explain this extensively in the comments? Please? 

And as for all those people saying stuff like "damn you Cherry!" in the comments of a chapter a while back, I ask you this; if some random guy went up to you in a movie theater while you were trying to watch a movie and started saying dirty things to you and generally being an asshole who wouldn't leave you the fuck alone, what would you do? Yeah. I thought so.

Cherry was NOT the person who set the whole thing in motion.
