𝓛UCY felt time slow down as Quentin's angered face quivered across the screen. Gashes littered his oval face and Lucy's eyes blinked slowly.

"Spider-Man's real name is Peter Parker!"

It was his yearbook picture. A proud and relaxed smile.

"And his partner, Spider-Girl, is Lucy Green—!" Quentin frantically shouted, her own photo popping up.

Both photos were showing, side by side before a digital sticker reading MURDERERS across them.

Lucy's face went wan as she heard Peter swear coarsely aloft.

In that moment something heavy stepped on her chest as her ears rang from shock.

Dread.

"That's right folks!" JJ's sonourous voice caused her to flinch and glare up at the large billboard screen. "Peter Parker and Lucy Green! The two seventeen-year-old high school delinquents harbouring a homicidal hunger. One murderer and one accomplice—"

A hand grabbed her bicep before Lucy was harshly turned around. A man with wide eyes leaned into her space. "Do you know Peter?! Is that why you're looking at him?"

Nose scrunching with scrutiny, she stepped back only to bump into an older woman. Her hand reached out to steady her, "Wait, sorr—"

"Get away from me!" She hissed, twisting her arm from Lucy's hand.

The teen blinked, stunned as her hands hugged her chest, coiling away from everyone.

"Are you Spider-Man's girlfriend? You're the Spider-Girl!" the previous man griped, walking her backwards in the thicket of people. She could sense the phones pointing towards her, snapping pictures and streaming videos.

Everyone around her suddenly gasped and pulled away before Peter landed on the concrete. He leapt forward, sticking an arm out to separate the man and Lucy. "Ah! Woah, woah, woah. Please don't touch her."

Turning to comfort her, Peter gentle grabbed her forearms. "Are you all right?"

She shook her head quickly.

"You murdered Mysterio?!" Another angry voice beset towards the two teenagers. The woman's eyes landed on Lucy after, talking like this was egregious. "And you helped him?!"

Her hand shot out, grabbing a fistful of Peter's red suit.

Ire suddenly overcame Lucy before she clamped down on the woman's wrist. With a helpful shove from Peter, the woman stumbled back and let go of him.

The two dodged away, moving for the street. Fishing for her phone, Lucy clutched the device in one hand.

"Hey! He hit me! They both hit me! Somebody help!"

With both of them still hanging onto each other, Lucy shoved her face into Peter's neck. "Get me out of here, Peter."

Peter's stomach did a flip when he noticed the quail in her voice. Wordlessly, he shot a web to a street light, lifting them into the air. He felt somebody's hands wrap around his ankle.

With a quick kick, Peter shoved them off and took off high.

JJ's voice faded in the distance, "They are now labelled: public enemies, number one!"

"This is bad!" Peter shouted above the roar of the wind, continuing to move farther and farther from the public. "Where do we go?!"

"I don't know!" Lucy yelled back, hugging his torso with both her arms and legs. "My house?"

"No, no, no! The people that know you will show up there. How about mine?"

"May will kill us, are you kidding?!" Lucy shouted back as Peter landed on top of the bridge beams. It was a narrow metal beam, but she held her balance.

Peter felt his phone vibrate before swiftly pulling it out. Answering the FaceTime, he stepped away from her.

"Dude!" Peter yelled at the device, staring into Ned's shocked expression.

"Dude!"

"Dude!"

"Duuuude!!"

"Dudes!" Lucy screamed in sudden irritation, pressing a hand into her tender ribs.

As if the realization struck him all over again, Peter froze in his spot. A second later he hung up on Ned before entrapping Lucy in a tight hug. "I am so sorry for this whole thing! Are you okay?"

Lucy relaxed in his arms for a moment before she pulled away. Holding each other at arm's length, she shook her head, "My vertigo is kicking in a little, but overall I'm peachy."

"And your ribs?"

Before she could respond, someone shouted at them. Both watched as a large air gondola slowly lifted past them. All the passengers on board were pressed against the glass, trying to take pictures or talk to them.

Turning to face the other way, people in their apartments were starting to stand on their balconies—pointing, taking pictures or just staring. Her skin felt like bugs were crawling all over her.

She writhed a bit, the discomfort starting to set in. A mechanical whirr grew louder and louder. The pair squinted their eyes, spotting a helicopter approaching in the distance.

"This is getting way too intense." Lucy huffed, lifting her chin as her hair flopped in the breeze. Her phone rang, vibrating in her palm. Squinting at the dark screen in the bright daylight, she read MJ's name.

She pressed the screen to her ear. "MJ?"

"Lucy, are you okay? I saw the news. Talk to me, where are you?"

"Uh," Lucy peaked down again, blinking as her road below her started to zoom away from her, further and further again. She wasn't getting nauseous from the height, it was the publicity that scared her. Everyone literally hated them.

Squeezing her eyes shut, she shook her head. "On a-a bridge right now. Peter's with me."

"You two gotta find some sort of safe house or—"

"Yeah we're working on it. Can I call you back?" Lucy pulled the phone away before hanging up on her abruptly. "Sorry."

Peter was at her side right after, tugging her close. "Let's just take the subway and then figure it out, yeah?"

Lucy didn't answer, leaning forward to fall off the beam. Directly below them, Flash walked over a metal grate, staring at his phone.

Peter shot at the grate, lifting it up in time for them to fall through, diving underground. Still holding the web, it fitted back in place from the pull.

With deft movements, Peter swung them down a subway tunnel. Glaring headlights grew brighter by the second. Lucy's stomach clenched with anxiety.

Peter grunted from the effort, trying to race it to another tunnel. Lucy squeezed herself as tight as she could to his body, nearly suffocating him.

At the last second, Peter diverged, avoiding getting hit and swinging down the next tunnel. A sweat broke out on Lucy's forehead.

They finally stopped, not seeing any trains coming. Above, a manhole cover. Peter jumped up, sticking to the ceiling as he moved the metal with little effort.

Pulling himself up, he helped Lucy through. Peter held her close. "Are you okay? How's your sides?"

Flinging a web behind him, Peter sharply pulled the manhole cover back in place.

Lucy panted, speedily walking away with him, "Fine. I'm managing. I think the adrenaline is starting to kick in a little."

Holding so she would stop, Peter reached down to grab the back of her thighs. Lucy gasped as he swept her up with a tug, tightly wrapping her legs around his torso again.

Peter jumped, pulling themselves high and higher away.

𝓦ITHIN ten minutes, Peter landed against the side of Peter's building, helping her climb inside the bedroom window. She pulled the window up with her fingertips.

As she tried to climb through, Peter's hand pressed against her back firmly. When she moved in further, it slid down to her backside.

Using the corner of Peter's desk as leverage, Lucy pushed herself up. At the last second, her palm slipped, causing her to fall face first.

She collapsed onto the rough carpet with a clamorous grunt. Crawling out of the way, Peter stepped through.

He landed beside her, bending down to pull her up. "Lucy, what do we do?!"

She huffed, starting to undo the back of his suit as he tore off the mask. "I don't know! I don't know!"

"Oh, no. Oh no, oh no, oh no—"

Peter pulled off his suit sleeves, tugging it down his hips to let the rest fall and pool at his ankles. Twisting the fabric around in his hands, Peter started to panic. "I don't know what to do!"

She grabbed the sides of his face, angling his head down and forcing him to stare at her. "Peter—Peter!"

The door to his bedroom opened and Happy stepped in before freezing. The two teens stared with bulging eyes.

Lucy quickly removed her hands from Peter, now feeling downright embarrassed to be standing beside Peter who was almost naked.

"Oh my god—" Peter cried out as he reached down to cover himself.

"—I didn't see anything!"

"Happy, wait!" Lucy shouted after pulling her hands through her hair in frustration. Her fingers got caught in the knots.

"This is what it looks like, Happy!" He frantically talked, waving his hands around. "May! It is not what it looks like, it's not!"

Peter's aunt stepped forward, grabbing the door to shut it.

"Peter, please just make sure to be more quiet next time—"

Everyone talked over one another; Peter trying to argue it wasn't what it looked like, Lucy trying to explain everything, Happy still denying he saw anything and May trying to apologize for barging in on such an intimate moment.

"Wait, May! Peter and I were just trying to—"

"Please, Aunt May, don't think—"

"I didn't see anything!"

May stopped, turning back in to smile happily at Lucy, "Lucy! So good to see you again! How's Allison? She hasn't texted me back in a few hours."

The anxiety seemed to melt away as she nodded at her, "She's good, we're good. Um, we were j-just coming back from our rounds, y'know. Uh, there's actually something we need to—"

Peter held out his hands in confusion before glancing at Happy who slipped around the door frame. "Wait, have you been crying?"

He peaked over, holding a deep frown on his face. "We broke up."

Lucy craned her head, looking around May's head. "You guys were a couple?"

Happy groaned in sadness, leaving the corridor.

"Hey Spider-Man!" A loud man's voice shouted from outside the building. "You in there with your 'girl friend'?"

Lucy's nose scrunched up, "Why did he say it like that?"

"Uh—" Peter webbed his curtain, sharply pulling it down to darken the room

"I didn't know you guys broke up," he pulled on his oversized white t-shirt. "I thought you were in love, May."

He pulled his aunt forward, exiting his bedroom. "Can we talk about this?"

"I should probably leave," Happy tried to step away.

"I thought you guys were such a handsome couple..."

Lucy shuffled to keep up with the two, Happy hesitantly following the train of people.

"You know, it's really about boundaries—" May whispered to Peter, although Lucy heard her.

"Hey, let's go in here." Peter turned the woman, heading towards the couches. Happy automatically followed.

The buzzer to their apartment rang and Lucy shot forward to answer. It was one of their neighbours down the hall.

"Is it true?" He held up his phone, showing a news article already published about the recent reveal.

Pursing her lips with a panic, she slammed the door shut. When it closed, she winced from the sound.

Lucy moved for the living room, sliding both curtains over the nearest windows. On accident, she overheard May's and Peter's bickering.

"Is this having to do with sex? You know all I ask for is to use protection."

"This isn't about me and Lucy having sex!"

Lucy couldn't help but blush, shuffling over to the next window. Peter turned around, jumping up to help her.

Happy lowered down, sitting a cushion away from May. "You know, I'm happy to rehash things, really."

"Uh, well..."

When this room was dark, Lucy stepped into the bathroom to take pain killers.

"Can you get off your phones for like five minutes?!" He grabbed Happy's and May's phones, drawing his attention to himself. "I just talk to you about your relationship, okay?"

Lucy slowly walked out of the bathroom, watching the television with wide eyes.

"Peter, turn around..." she voice was quiet from anticipation, standing behind May.

Everyone's eyes followed, seeing the news live...and the camera pointing right at their home. In the camera's view, you could see the other helicopters hovering around the building.

The banner SPIDER-MAN AND SPIDER-GIRL'S IDENTITIES REVEALED across the screen caused Lucy to groan.

May audibly gasped, covering her mouth, "Is this live?"

Peter pointed to the window, slowly walking over and pulling the shade open. Outside was the same one. The noise from the blades grew louder and louder.

He shrugged his shoulders, a nervous expression plastered on his features, "I mean, maybe it's not such a big deal..."

Lucy covered her eyes with both hands, tilting her head back as she groaned insufferably.
