Johnny Imagine

A/N: Requested forever ago by SummerBarrett4! I'm so so sorry it took so long, that wait was inexcusable and I feel horrible about it. I hope it was worth the wait.

Also, I reference and use a passage of the book Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I do not own the book so all credit and copyright or whatever go to Charles Dickens and whoever else owns it (I'm not really sure what to say other than it's not mine 😂)

Imagine:
Your POV:

"You ready to go?" Johnny asks me, walking over to my locker where I'm grabbing a few books.

"Yeah, I guess so. You want to go to the library and get some homework done?" I respond.

"Sure. Not like I would wanna go home, anyways," He says quietly. I give him a sad smile. I always feel horrible when he talks about going home. I just wish his parents would stop hurting him. He's one of the best people I've ever met, and he doesn't deserve it at all.

"Don't feel bad, Summer. I'll be ok. Hey, want me to carry your books?" He asks. I look around the school, all the guys that are carrying the girls books are couples.

"Sure," I say, smiling and handing them to him. He smiles back at me and I feel a blush creeping up on me. Man, I love his smile. It always makes me feel better. And nervous. I don't really know why. I mean, we've been friends for years. Suddenly, Johnny puts his arm around me. I feel chills going down my spine.

"Hi..." I giggle nervously.

"You know you're really pretty, Summer," He says, making me blush even more.

"T-thanks," I whisper. I don't dare look him in the eyes for fear that I might embarrass myself. We walk to the library in silence, and go sit down at our normal table. Him on one side, me on the other. We come here a lot.

"What do you wanna do first?" I ask him. He shrugs.

"Whatever you want," He says. He's always been so easygoing.

"Ok. How about English?" I suggest. We're reading a real good book right now, Great Expectations.

"Sure. Pick up where we left off in class?" He suggests. Our homework was to read two chapters of it and answer the questions on the worksheet given to us.

"Sounds good," I say, opening my book. He takes his out of his backpack, and starts flipping pages.

"What page was it again?" He asks, looking frazzled. I giggle and tell him. After he finds it, he looks up and smiles at me.

"Should I start?" He asks. I nod, my mouth too dry to answer.

"...As if I had insisted on being born in opposition to the dictates of reason, religion, and morality, and against the arguments of my best friends." He keeps reading, but I'm not paying attention. All I can think of is how much I want to push his bangs out of his face, to be able to see his beautiful brown eyes.

"Hey, what are you staring at? Is there something on my face?" He asks me. I shake my head.

"N-no. You can keep reading," I stutter.
He looks back down at the book, but doesn't start reading.

"Hey," He says, instead.

"Yeah?"

"Why do you seem so uptight around me lately, Summer?" He asks me. I gulp, not knowing go to answer. I can't just tell him that I have a crush on him...

"I-," I start to say, but that's when I notice Johnny leaning in closer to me. That's when I realize, I'm about to have my first kiss. I lean in a little closer, and finally feel his lips on mine. Something I've wanted practically forever, finally becoming a reality. The kiss was slow, and gentle, but still full of passion as his lips moved in synch with mine. After a moment we both backed up.

We stared at each other for a good two or three minutes -which seemed like about five years- when Johnny finally said, "Summer... Do you think you'd want to... you know... go out sometime?" His tanned cheeks turn an adorable dark shade of red. I give him a reassuring smile, and grab his hand from other the table.

"I'd love to, Johnny." He smiles bigger and brighter than I've ever seen before.

"Really? That's great! I've been really wanting to ask you for a while now, I've just been.... worried that you'll say no," He says. My eyes widen in shock.

"Why in the world would I say no?" I ask him. He shrugs.

"Because, Summer. You're.... perfect and I'm just plain old me. Some stupid kid from the wrong side of town that gets beat half to death by his own parents on a regular basis.... Who would love that?" He asks, his voice a low, sad whisper.

Leaning back into the table I whisper, "I would." That's when I kiss him again.

That's it... I hope you like it.

VERY IMPORTANT AUTHORS NOTE: I just want you guys to know that I would never skip over or not write a request. Maybe sometimes they take a while, but I promise, if you ask me for one when requests are open, I will write it. And I always post them in the order they were requested.
