Chapter 6: Lunch with Lucas
As Penelope walked towards Lucas, she couldn't help but feel a sense of nervousness. What was she doing, agreeing to lunch with the most popular guy in school?
But as she reached Lucas's side, he smiled at her and her nerves began to dissipate. "Hey, Penelope," he said. "Glad you could make it."
Penelope smiled back, feeling a sense of relief. "Thanks, Lucas. I'm glad I could make it too."
As they walked to the lunch line, Penelope couldn't help but notice the way Lucas seemed to command attention. Everyone was staring at him, and he seemed to be lapping up the attention like a cat in cream.
But when they reached the front of the line, Lucas turned to her and asked, "So, what do you want to eat?"
Penelope was taken aback by the question. She had expected Lucas to just order for her, or to tell her what she should get. But instead, he was asking for her opinion.
"I'll just have a sandwich, please," she said, feeling a sense of surprise.
Lucas nodded and ordered for them, and as they walked to a table, Penelope couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder. Who was this guy, and why was he being so nice to her?
As they sat down to eat, Lucas asked her about her classes, and what she liked to do for fun. Penelope found herself opening up to him, telling him about her love of reading and her passion for art.
"I've always wanted to be a lawyer," she said, her eyes lighting up with excitement. "I love arguing and debating, and I think it would be an amazing career."
Lucas nodded thoughtfully. "That's really cool," he said. "I've always wanted to be a doctor. I love science and helping people, and I think it would be an incredibly rewarding career."
Penelope smiled, feeling a sense of connection. "That's amazing," she said. "I have so much respect for doctors."
As they finished their meal and prepared to leave, Lucas turned to her and asked, "So, Penelope, would you like to study together sometime?"
Penelope's heart skipped a beat as she met Lucas's gaze. Was he asking her out? Or was he just being friendly?
She didn't know, but she was eager to find out. "Yeah, that would be great," she said, trying to sound casual.
Lucas grinned. "Awesome. I'll pick you up at 3 pm tomorrow."
Penelope's heart skipped another beat as she realized that Lucas was actually asking her out. She was going to study with him, and she couldn't wait.
As they parted ways, Penelope couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. What was going to happen tomorrow? Was Lucas going to ask her out on a real date?
She didn't know, but she was eager to find out.
As soon as she got home, Penelope rushed to her room and called Maya. "Guess what?" she said, barely containing her excitement.
"What?" Maya asked, sounding curious.
"Lucas asked me to study with him tomorrow," Penelope said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Maya squealed. "Oh my god, that's amazing!" she said. "What did you say?"
Penelope grinned. "I said yes, of course."
Maya laughed. "Of course you did," she said. "So, what do you think this means?"
Penelope hesitated. "I don't know," she said. "But I have a feeling that something big is going to happen."
Maya nodded. "I have a feeling you're right," she said.
As they talked, Penelope couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. What was going to happen tomorrow? Was Lucas going to ask her out on a real date?
She didn't know, but she was eager to find out.
The next day, Penelope's mom had to work, so her brother, Jack, offered to take her shopping instead. Penelope was excited to spend the day with her brother, but things got even more interesting when Jack invited Lucas to come along.
As they walked through the mall, Penelope couldn't help but feel a sense of embarrassment. She was wearing her favorite pair of jeans, but they were suddenly feeling a little too tight.
And then, disaster struck. Penelope felt a strange sensation in her stomach, and suddenly she was bleeding.
She was getting her period.
Penelope's face turned bright red with embarrassment as she realized what was happening. She quickly grabbed her brother's arm and whispered, "Jack, I need to go to the bathroom."
Jack looked at her in confusion, but Lucas's eyes widened in understanding. "Oh, yeah," he said. "We'll wait for you outside."
Penelope's face burned with embarrassment
As Penelope rushed to the bathroom, she couldn't help but feel mortified. Why did this have to happen now, in front of Lucas?
She quickly locked herself in a stall and tried to clean up the mess. But as she was trying to compose herself, she heard Lucas's voice outside the stall.
"Hey, Penelope, do you need any help?" he asked.
Penelope's face burned with embarrassment. "No, I'm fine," she said, trying to sound calm.
But Lucas didn't go away. "Are you sure?" he asked. "We can go get you some supplies if you need them."
Penelope felt a surge of gratitude towards Lucas. He was being so kind and understanding, even in this embarrassing situation.
But before she could respond, Jack spoke up. "Yeah, Lucas, let's go get her some stuff," he said.
Penelope's face burned with embarrassment as she heard the two boys walk away. She couldn't believe this was happening to her.
But as she waited for them to return, Penelope couldn't help but gratitude towards Lucas. He had been so kind and understanding, even in this embarrassing situation.
And when he returned with a bag of supplies, Penelope felt a sense of relief wash over her. "Thanks, Lucas," she said, feeling a sense of gratitude.
Lucas smiled and handed her the bag. "No problem, Penelope," he said. "We're here to help."
As they walked out of the bathroom, Penelope couldn't help but wonder. Who was this guy, and why was he being so nice to her?
But before she could ponder these questions any further, Jack spoke up. "Hey, guys, let's go get some lunch," he said.
Penelope nodded, feeling a sense of agreement. She was starving, and a sandwich sounded like just what she needed.
As they walked to the food court, Penelope couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. What was going to happen next? Was Lucas going to ask her out on a real date?
She didn't know, but she was eager to find out.
