Chapter Two: The New Kid
Dean slid into his seat in English class, only a few minutes late. His teacher gave him a brief glance, then returned to the board to explain what they would be doing that day.
"Today we begin our journey into the art of persuasion," Mr. Spencer told them.
The class groaned in response. Dean seemed to be the only one that wasn't concerned about their next topic. He had already learned about persuasion from his mother. Dean sighed. He was right that today was going to be boring.
About twenty minutes into the class a knock on the door broke the students out of their daze. They all looked over, eager for a distraction, as Mr. Spencer walked to the door and briefly spoke with someone. He walked back to the front of the room with a grin.
"Class, I am happy to announce that there will be another wolf joining our pack this year," Mr. Spencer announced. The entire class rolled their eyes. "His name is Castiel Novak and he will start here tomorrow. Be nice to him, and show him what our school is all about! Show him the loyalty and fierceness of the wolves! AAAARRRRGGGG!!!!"
The class stared back at him with dead eyes, no one seemed that excited. Mr. Spencer glanced around the room a few times, an excited look on his face. Then, seeing the lack of enthusiasm from his students, he spoke again, this time a bit calmer.
"Dean Winchester, you will be in charge of showing Castiel where he sits and how this class is set up. If something goes wrong, it will come back on you," Mr. Spencer threatened. Dean wasn't his favorite student, and Mr. Spencer tried to keep some distance between him and Dean as often as possible.
Dean nodded his head and gazed at the empty seat next to him. He had been placed in the back corner of the room, farthest from the teacher's desk. Sometimes Dean wondered if Mr. Spencer was afraid of him. He did have an intimidating build, but as far as he could remember he hadn't done anything to scare his English teacher. Maybe he was just disgusted with Dean, as everyone else seemed to be. At least the new kid wouldn't know to be mean to him. He might actually have another friend for a while, or at least until the new kid learned to hate Dean.
He will probably be friends with Crowley or Meg. Or maybe he'll like Alistair better. Maybe he's shy and won't talk to anyone. Or maybe he will...
For the rest of class Dean thought about the new kid; it's not like the art of persuasion was all that riveting. He wondered what he would look like, how he would act, and how long it would take him to start tormenting Dean like the other students did.
Sighing, Dean closed his notes and packed up his bag. The bell would ring soon and he would have to get a head start to his next class.
Wouldn't want to be late, would I? Dean thought sarcastically.
Dean laughed to himself as the bell rang, earning a few odd stares from his classmates. Making sure Mr. Spencer's back was turned, he flipped off the class and walked out the door.
