Getting herded into small boats by Hagrid was an exciting experience, having never seen a giant in real life. She stood fairly close and noticed something weird, a boy talking to him. The boy was greeted by a large smile, but she didn't care much for the said boy, but rather the one behind him, her brother. She walked over and whispered into his ears:
"Made friends already Ronnie?" The boy turned and grinned.
"That's Harry Potter Edrea! We sat together on the train, can you believe it? He even has the scar!" Ron exclaimed, as Harry came towards them, and after a look at him, her head couldn't help but supply the one word, scrawny.
"Ron, um- who is this?" Harry asked, unknowingly butting into their conversation awkwardly. Edrea's hand shot out, and she spoke breathlessly, "Hi, I'm Ron's sister, you must be Harry Potter. The boy who lived! Could I see your scar?"
"Um- yea, dunno why everyone's making such a big deal about it." He answered, mumbling the last part as he pulled his bangs up, just as he had done for Ron.
"First yers, First yers" Hagrid's loud booming stopped their conversation, as the masses of people made them move away from each other. And somehow, she had found her way to a boat, which was already occupied by another girl. She walked onto it, barely keeping herself from tripping onto the girl. Much to her dismay, the girl hadn't moved, her eyes glued to the book she was reading. Only looking up when the boat had started to move, surveying her with weariness before going back to her book. Edrea didn't mind the silence, finding it comforting, as she looked down at the black lake they were travelling through. Sitting up straighter after she saw something sparkle in there, before peering in closer and leaning over the edge. The action made the boat sway dangerously and she nearly fell inside when the girl she was with hastily pulled her back.
"Watch it, will you? You could've drowned!" The girl shouted, concern filling her eyes as her curls flew over her face.
"Sorry, um- thank you, I wanted to see what was in there.." Edrea answered sheepishly, shrugging her shoulders. Adding "Could I know the name of my saviour?"
"Ah, I am Meera, Meera Dixit." The girl said, allowing a smile to form on her face.
"I'm Edrea Weasley!"
"Pleased to make your acquaintance Weasley, say, what house do you want to get into?"
"Gryffindor, my whole family's been sorted there. What about you?"
"Ravenclaw, for the same reasons as you I suppose."
"What book are you reading?"
"Fantastic beasts and where to find them."
The two continued to talk until they finally came to Hogwarts castle, where they made a small pact, to stay friends despite the in different houses. Talking all the way to the stairs, stopping at the brisk cough of Professor McGonagall, listening attentively as she explained what was going to happen. They watched as a variety of different people went, and soon it was Meera's turn and with the encouraging words of Edrea, she went up.
"Ravenclaw!" The hat shouted as claps resonated in the great hall. Giving a thumbs up, to Meera, Edrea soon grew bored. Zoning out until her brother tugged her robe, pointing towards Harry Potter, who had after a few minutes been sorted into Gryffindor. Then she decided to talk to her brother as she waited for their turns, not really knowing anyone else important.
"Ronald Weasley!" McGonagall announced as Ron walked up, his face, hair and ears all the same colour. And just as the hat touched his head, it shouted:
"Gryffindor!"
She cheered silently, there was only her and a boy, who scowled at her when she looked at him, rolling her eyes she waited for her turn.
"Edrea Weasley"
She stuffed the butterflies to the bottom of her stomach and walked to the hat.
'Interesting, a Weasley did you say?'
"Who are- wait are you the hat?"
'Sharp indeed, you have a lot of curiosity as well, you could make a fine Ravenclaw'
"Huh, thanks I guess?"
'No, but your ambition lies somewhere else...'
"Ok?"
'Chose, adventure, knowledge, greatness or love'
"Greatness?"
'My decision has been made, Slytherin"
The whole hall went silent, her brothers stared, shock clear onto their faces. No one clapped as she made her way to the Slytherin table. A bunch of people moved away from her, with dirty looks on their faces, and she could feel her eyes water, ignoring this she focused on the last one.
"Slytherin!"
This time, everyone cheered in Slytherin, as he strutted towards a boy with platinum blonde hair. The rest of the feast passed in a daze, as she ignored the multiple stares at her back, her brothers probably, but couldn't find it in herself to look at them.
And there she was, suddenly in her dorm with 3 other girls.
"Astoria, Millie, did you see Draco Malfoy today?" The brunette, Pansy asked, squealing.
'Millie' nodded. Astoria rolled her eyes and didn't do anything.
Soon Millie and Pansy got into a squealing match about the boy. And Astoria looked her up and down before going to sleep.
"Oooh, it's the blood traitor, what are you doing listening to us?" Millie said
Edrea didn't say anything.
"I guess she must be deaf and mute, right Millie? I mean her whole family is brain dead, why couldn't she be mute?" Pansy snickered.
While they could've said anything about her they, couldn't say anything about her family.
"I am not mute or deaf Millie, Pansy, though it seems that you 2 are squealing like little pigs and acting like you actually matter. Pathetic, and even if my family was brain dead, they would be 100 times greater than your family!" She shouted as Millie screeched. "It's Millicent you filthy traitor"
Before barreling into her, pulling her hair, Edrea, well versed in fight elbowed her stomach and kicked her when she let out a loud wail. Then the door opened, it was the head of their house. Snape.
"Get away from Ms Bulford, Weasley, detention for a week next time something like this happens." The sheer disgust in her voice made her flinch. Slowly backing away from the girl, the two of them smirked. Oh, how she wanted to punch those faces.
"But sir-" "But nothing, you are truly showing how big of a disappointment you will be to Slytherin." He interrupted and helped Millicent get to Madam Pomfrey, closing the door shut behind them. And after hearing Pansy's laugh, she cocooned herself in her bed, shedding silent tears as she slowly fell asleep.
