The Average Saturday

A/N: Hey there! I just wanted to apologize for keeping y'all waiting for so very long. It's been rough and I've been dealing with a lot of things. I have no idea when the next update will come but I haven't given up on this story! I'm not too confident with this chapter...it's hard getting back into a story you haven't written for a while. If you guys hate it, I might change it, but for now, I hope you enjoy.

Thank you all very much for your continued support!

As a student, Anna had always enjoyed and looked forward to the weekend. Saturday's were always a busy time with the Marauders. They'd spend the whole week just plotting for that one day of fun. They'd go exploring or sneak into Hogsmeade or prank one of the other houses. It was great fun.

This Saturday, as a teacher, was not quite so exhilarating. It was quite boring, in fact.

She peered down at essay after essay, grading dutifully with Remus at her side planning the details for the following week's lessons. Every job had dull days and this just so happened to be one of them. They'd been working since breakfast, but they'd made good progress.

It was the afternoon when Remus asked her to go to the library to fetch a couple books and scrolls from the library.

"Take your time, getting back." He said soothingly, massaging the frustration out of her shoulders. "Stretch your legs, take your mind off work. Taking a break will do you some good."

She looked up at him with tired eyes but a giddy grin. She slumped her head against his chest from where he stood behind her desk chair.
"Remus, my dear~" Anna sighed reverently, enjoying the feeling of her tense muscles unwinding, "you spoil me."

He smirked. "I know," he plants a final kiss on her forehead, "and you love it."

She rolled her eyes and stood' giving him a proper kiss before reaching for her coat and heading for the door, "I'll fetch some tea, while I'm at it. If you can withstand the loss of my company for long enough, that is?"

He rolled his eyes at her teasing tone, "I'll be counting the seconds, your highness." He performed a small mocking bow before settling down in Anna's place at the desk.

Anna smiled to herself, as she finally exited. She ache to have to leave her husband at the desk like this, but 30 essays in a row made her eyes sore and her joints feel creaky. When she stepped into the courtyard, she sighed as the fresh air and warm sunlight washed over her.

As she strolled through the school, she took in the beauty of the castle. The magical establishment was nearly always bustling with life at this time of day. The tone may have been dampened by Sirius's confusing antics but only slightly. Most of the castle's inhabitants seemed intent on enjoying the day, in spite of the recent disturbances.

The ever high-spirited Sir Nicholas greeted her Jovially in the halls as he'd always done since she was a first year. The pictures on the walls chatted animatedly amongst themselves. Many of  them even stopped to greet Anna as she passed.

She spied Sophia, the young Ravenclaw girl she'd come to adore blushing madly as a dark-haired Gryffindor witch was proudly showing off the newest spell that she had mastered. Golden sparks lit up her face in warm light as she turned a quill into a gorgeous light pink Peony. She presented it with flourish to Sophia, who's eyes brightened at the beauty of the the flower that was being gently tucked into the curls of her pinned blonde braids. Anna giggled to herself at the sight as she continued her stroll. Really, her kids were just too cute sometimes! Severus said that she was too nice to her students but, honestly, she honestly couldn't see herself finding more joy anywhere else than she would here with her students.

But as she strolled onward through the halls towards the library, her thoughts took a sharp turn from giddiness to maternal worry as she thought about her students, her family.

She thought of everything Harry had to deal with: his current hatred of Sirius, his worries about Dementors, and his distress over his last encounter with Voldemort. Every single thing that had happened to him, because she hadn't protected him. The facts were this: after Lily and James' death, Anna had ran. She'd allowed herself to be swallowed by her grief and vengeance and she hid herself away. When the chamber of Secrets had opened the year before, she should have been with Harry, fighting by his side.

But she'd failed, and had become petrified by the beast because of her blood status.

And now she was keeping secrets from him because she was terrified. She was terrified that Harry would realize that she was of no use to him. She'd been helpless to stop her sister's murder or her friend's incarceration.

She couldn't help but wonder how long her happiness would last beard fate once again snatched away someone she loved.

When would her luck run out?

-------line break------

By the time Anna had reached the library, she felt even more tired than before.

She opened the door and immediately collided with a student on the otherside of the door. Books clattered to the floor, papers went flying.

Anna apologized and started to help pick up the books. When she started to examine the items that had been dropped, though, she froze.

Werewolves.

All of these books were about werewolves: how to identify them, the history of them, and how to fight them.

She stared at the books, taking in the horrific illustrations contained within the pages.

A nervous, but familiar voice broke her from her thoughts, "Anna, wait! It's not-"

The speaker seemed to give up on justifying themselves in that moment, their speech faltering. It was clear what was going on here. Anna just had to look at the guilt on her face and she knew  the truth.

She sighed, her headache returning as she looked the student in the eye, "Hermione, would you like to have tea with me and Remus. It seems...we have some business to discuss."

The other witch nodded, eyes filled with guilt.

Anna groaned inwardly. This was turning out to be a very long Saturday.

-----(Remus' POV)------

Remus stroked Holly's fur as he read through the papers on his desk. The orange and white cat was asleep, sprawled across Remus' lap quite happily. She looked so peaceful and cute, it was almost enough to distract him from his work.

Unfortunately, that was the moment he heard the room's door open. He knew that would be Anna, so he picked Holly off of his lap to greet her. The cat yawned and stretched, before frolicking over to the door as it opened, eager to exit the room. Anna has gotten Dumbledore's permission to let Holly roam the castle freely, as long as she didn't cause to much fuss. Holly tended to take full advantage of this privilege and could be spotted in almost any part of the castle at anytime. It wasn't a problem, however, because she always made her way back to her owners by at least supper time.

When the door opened, he was surprised to find that Anna was not alone. Beside her was Hermione Carrying a tea tray for Anna, who had the supplies he had sent her for in her arms.

Seeing the looks on their faces (Hermione's being a look of guilt and Anna's being a look of concern), he felt that something was off but he wasn't without his manners. He smiled politely at Hermione, "Why, hello, Hermione, what brings you to our humble quarters this fine day?"

Anna gave him a meaningful look, grasping Hermione's shoulder. "Remus," she began cautiously, "She knows."

Remus frowned, "What do you-"

Hermione's back straightened and she, too, looked him firmly in the eye. She swallowed her nerves and said, "I know that you are a werewolf, Professor Lupin."

Note: If you don't remember Sophia, I think I first mentioned her in book one, in a chapter called "Quidditch" but that may be wrong! And I'm sorry this is so boring. I've just been stuck in writers block for so long, I needed to post a really simple chapter to try and push myself out of it. Does that make sense? So sorry that this chapter kinda sucks, especially after you've waited so long!
