In New York City

A chilly breeze blew sending temperatures dipping. A lone star glittered and winked. It's presence a welcome from the otherwise dark night. As Kerry looked out the window, she saw the night sky was a deep midnight blue that was peppered with greyish clouds, the faltering glow of the moon was almost covered by the flitting clouds. She took some deep breaths and got back to work. Besides to occasional screeching of the cars and the drunkards screaming, only Kerry's hands typing furiously on the keyboard could be heard. It was late at night. Despite having to wake up at 5:00 tomorrow morning, Kerry but hook or by crook had to get the extra credit.  She took a quick glance at the clock, shaking her head in disappointment, she sighed.  Know that she was nowhere near done, she refocused her eyes on the glaring screen as she rubbed her tired droopy eyes. 

*ONE HOUR LATER*

"Ugg!! FINALLY!!" Kerry mind went wild as she leaned back in her chair to scan through her"masterpiece". It was perfect. She had wrote a 10 page research essay and a poster about Children and Poverty. She was going to get that scholarship. She smile gleefully. Her warm smile was accompanied by the twinkling of her eyes. Noticing that she only had just about 3 hours of sleep, she washed up, put on a hand me down PJ and when to bed, humming softly to herself while slowly drifting off to dreamland.

"RING!RING!!!" The radiant sun, shone into her bedroom warming every corner of it.
