Chapter 35

"What took you two so-" Kiri started. Everyone suddenly stopped and stared at us as me and Katsuki approached.

"What the fuck are you looking at?" Katsuki sneered. Kami grinned.

"You two are holding hands!" We both looked down at our intertwined fingers in unison.

"I suppose we are." I shrugged nonchalantly. "Now, who's ass am I gonna kick on Mario Kart?"

I won Mario Kart (duh), closely followed by Kaminari. Mina absolutely killed every single one of us on Dance Dance 3000. Katsuki got first place on some zombie shooter game, cheered on by plenty of 'sugoi!'s from Mido, and Kirishima won by a landslide on the strength test (it was a 'no quirks' game). Mido and Todo had a great time on the penny machines. Todoroki seemed fascinated with everything; I think it was his first time at an arcade actually.

"I want to find the Mr Magnificent game!" I tugged Katsuki's sleeve.

"Let's lose these extras and go find it then." He whispered in my ear with a smirk. When everyone else was distracted by a story that Sero was telling, he grabbed my hand and we snuck off.

"There's something romantic about running off together." I sighed wistfully. Katsuki laughed.

"Funny idea of romance."

"Well, I am with you, so." He looked at me.

"Say it again."

"Say what again? I'm with you?" He couldn't disguise his glee.

"Well, anyways." He changed the subject quickly, hoping I wouldn't catch onto his bashfulness. "Here's the game."

The game was kind of like a shooter game, but instead of a gun, you pick a quirk based off of the characters and shoot that. I chose lasers and Katsuki chose fire, no surprise there. I almost made a mocking remark about him copying Todoroki, but decided against it. We went through our favourite fictional world defeating enemies alongside Mr Magnificent until the final boss. Mr Magnificent goes to save the civilians, entrusting the both of us with the final enemy. Both of us had big grins on our faces as we determinedly took down the villain. After it was over, I breathed a sigh of relief. It wasn't real but it still gave me a good adrenaline rush anyway. On the ending screen, we were shown our scores. I had beat Katsuki by 10 points; one takedown.

"What? This shitty machine is broken! I obviously won!" He frowned. But I was looking past him. A little booth, pink and red, covered in little pink lights and love hearts.

"Since I won, I know what my prize should be." Without waiting for a reply, I got up and went over to it, pulling back the thick curtain.

"What the fuck is this?" He asked, sitting next to me reluctantly.

"Hello and welcome to the Love Shack." A sultry recorded voice greeted us. "Enter two hundred yen to begin." I pushed a coin into the slot.

"Don't pout! It's just a bit of fun." I pleaded.

"What does this thing even do?"

"Are you ready for your compatibility test? Smile for the camera!"

"It takes pictures!" I answered gleefully. I leant on Katsuki's shoulder and he put his arm around my waist. After a brief countdown, a light flashed and the image of us appeared on the screen. Some animated hearts floated around us while a 'love meter' teased a bunch of different numbers before eventually settling on 99%.

"Congratulations to the happy couple!" I turned to Katsuki and held his face in my hands.

"That's a good score!"

"Well it should be one hundred!" He insisted. I looked at him lovingly, so wrapped up in him that I missed whatever the woman was saying.

"You think that we're one hundred percent compatible?"

"Of course!" I pressed my lips against his cheek. "I'm still not used to that." He chuckled.

"Well get used to it!" I declared. We looked at each other and started laughing. "I feel like all I've done is smile and laugh today."

"Well get used to it." Katsuki echoed, leaning forward, one hand on my waist, the other on the wall beside me, like how we were before Mido called. "You deserve the world, Hinami. And I'm planning on giving you as close to that as humanly possible."

Before either of us could make a move, the machine spoke up again.

"Your photoshoot is complete! Your pictures will be printed outside the booth, next to the door. Don't forget them!"

"It was taking pictures this whole time?" He jumped up and shot out of the booth, leaving me to scramble out after him. There were two copies of the first picture of us, surrounded by a heart with '99%' on the top. We were cuddled up, me looking at the camera with a beaming face, him looking down at me, a smitten look on his. I loved it. Two more clunks made us look back at the machine. It had also spat out two photo strips, like what you usually get from a photobooth. The first was us looking into each other's eyes, my hands resting on his cheeks. The second caught the moment I kissed Katsuki's cheeks. The third was us both laughing merrily. And the last one was Katsuki leaning towards me, a smug (and attractive) smirk on his face. My stomach twisted pleasantly.

"They're... cute." Katsuki took one from me and examined it. An idea struck me. I took a pen out of my handbag and took both copies of the big picture. Next to the 99 I added an extra 9.

"I can't change it to one hundred. So now it's nine hundred and ninety nine." I showed him. An expression I had never seen before softened his entire face.

"Hinami, I-"

"There you are!" A voice yelled. I took the pictures and put them in my bag, careful not to bend them. "I found them!" Tenya approached us. "We were looking everywhere for you both! It is very irresponsible for you to both sneak off like that." He lectured us. The others came bounding over from all different directions. Midoriya gave me a quick hug.

"We thought something might have happened to you two!"

"You think we can't look after ourselves?" Katsuki swatted him away angrily. They started bickering. Kami took the opportunity to whisper in my ear.

"You went in that love booth, didn't you?"

"Ninety nine percent." I whispered back in a pleased voice. He put his hand over his mouth.

"And you two holding hands?"

"And you and Sero not holding hands?" I deflected.

"We're taking it slow. Can you say the same?" He teased.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure we are. I mean, he has only just said he has feelings for me-"

"He said what?!" Kami squealed excitedly before realising where we were. Everyone looked over at us and I instantly felt my cheeks heat up.

"I know. My own dad. Threatening to fail me. The audacity." I just about managed to make up a story on the fly.

"Men are just unbelievable..." Kami tutted, shaking his head in disappointment. "Wait! I'm men!" Everyone spilled into laughter. After a few more games, we decided to go to the cafe we had been to before. As we were walking out of the arcade, someone started heckling Mido.

"Hey! Look who it is! It's the quirkless freak from middle school!"

"R-Ryan... John... Hi..." Mido squeaked.

"Nah! His quirk is broccoli for sure. A useless quirk for a useless kid!" The two boys laughed and high-fived each other. I stormed over to them.

"What the fuck did you just say?"

"Huh. Who the hell are you?" One asked

"I could ask you the same question, extras." I could feel Katsuki smiling at my use of his insult.

"Hey. I know you. You're Hinami Hata. You're Present Mic's daughter. My friend went to your school." The other said.

"Lucky him. Now piss off and leave him alone."

"Why are you sticking up for that moron? He your brother or something? I'd say you'd have to be related to the kid to care about him but his dad clearly proves that wrong..." The main one trailed off suggestively. His stupid lackey laughed like a hyena behind him. I could hear a few gasps and Midoriya sniffed behind me. Oh no. Nobody makes my friend cry.

"Yes. He's my family actually. And if you really know anything about me, you'd know not to fuck with me." My voice was dangerously low.

"His mother abandoned him too? So the system allowed those faggots to adopt another kid? Japan really is-"

He didn't get to finish his sentence. He was too distracted by the fact that my fist had just connected with his nose. Hard. He stumbled backwards, his hand flying up to his already bloody face. I grabbed his collar and pulled him close to me.

"My fathers are both pro-heroes. Your parents are the producers of a disgusting little failure who has nothing better to do than pick on others. Midoriya has one of the strongest quirks I know. He is in UA, in class with Ingenium's younger brother, a Yaoyorozu, and the number two hero's son. What have you done with your measly life?" A gentle hand touched my shoulder.

"Hinami... Let's just go." Mido said softly. I threw the boy to the ground.

"I think she should punch him again!" Katsuki jeered. The two boys scuttled off before I could follow his 'advice'. I turned on my heel and silently walked out of the arcade, not waiting for the others to catch up.

"Hey! Wait for us." Mina demanded, panting slightly. I finally stopped.

"Are you okay?" Ochaco asked, obviously concerned. It was only then that I realised my fists were still clenched so tightly that my nails were digging into my palm, and that I was shaking with rage. As suddenly as it came, all of my anger disappeared and was replaced with sadness. I let out a shaky breath.

"This is why I didn't want to tell you. There are still people like that around..." Midoriya flung his arms around me and held me tightly, sniffling slightly.

"Thank you. Thank you, and I'm sorry." I slowly raised my arms and hugged him back.

"It's alright. I've got to stick up for my little brother." I laughed weakly. He smiled warmly.

"Hinami, you still punched him. What if he reports you?" Tenya began.

"Oh, shut up, class rep. It was fucking badass and I'm proud of her." Katsuki tutted, putting his arm around me as soon as Mido stepped away from me.

"I can't believe I'm saying this. But I agree with Bakugo." Todo announced.

"Hey! What's that supposed to mean?!"

"Those two people were awful. He deserved to be hit. If Hinami didn't do it, I would have." After one last check that everything was okay, we started our journey to the cafe. Again.

"Actually, there is one thing." I said. "My knuckle hurts now."

"Serves you right for being violent." Tenya shook his head. Despite his words, he closely observed my hand. "It's simply bruised."

"I'll fix it." Katsuki said smugly.

"How do you expect to-" Tenya started in a condescending voice, only to stop out of surprise. Katsuki took my hand and carefully kissed my knuckle, just like he did at the woodland training camp.

"It feels much better." I giggled, my heart racing. He was actually being affectionate in front of other people.

"See." He stuck his tongue out childishly at Tenya. Mina exploded.

"Oh my god! Am I the only one who registered that? THE Katsuki Bakugo just kissed Hinami better!"

"You two are the cutest!" Ochaco squealed.

"Are you two dating or something?" Sero asked.

"Bakubro! You promised you'd tell me first!" Kiri complained. I couldn't help but feel a bit light-headed from all of the attention.

"I mean, I suppose we are or whatever. If that's what you want to call it." Katsuki responded grumpily, taking my uninjured hand.

"Why do you sound so mad about it?" Mido asked.

"I'm not- You guys are just all in my- OUR business-"

"They only want to know because they're our friends. They care about us and the things going on in our lives." I told him in a hushed voice.

"I know." He grumbled.

"I was the first to know!" Kaminari blurted out, clearly unable to hold himself back any longer. "Hinami told me about her crush back at the camp and I was the first to know!"

"Since the camp?" Kat furrowed his brow.

"WHAT?" Mina and Ochaco yelled in unison before going into separate spiels about how they feel betrayed, and how could I possibly tell Kaminari over them.

"Of course she told Denki." Sero added nonchalantly. "He's easy to talk to and is good at keeping secrets."

"Clearly." Kiri laughed.

"Denki, huh?" I nudged Kami teasingly, grateful for a topic change.

"Oh yeah." Sero winked. Kami blushed.

"We are here. Now, pease, I don't think I have to remind you all that we represent UA, so if you could all behave appropriately-"

"Shut up, old man." Katsuki groaned, practically dragging me into the cafe.

"Bakugo!" He yelled after us, waving his hand about in his usual manner.

Once we had found a big enough table for us all and settled down, a waiter came over to us. Luckily, the girl who was flirting with Katsuki before was nowhere to be seen. He took our orders, leaving Mido until last.

"And what can I get the cutie with the freckles?" Todo frowned at the comment. I noticed his arm move slightly; he had probably just taken Mido's hand under the table. What was it with the staff in this place?

"Oh, uh, a hot chocolate with marshmallows and a millionaire shortbread please." he smiled bashfully.

"Of course." And with that, he swept to the counter to prepare our orders.

"Who would think that Deku is cute?" Katsuki sneered. Kiri hit his arm. After a little while of talking about stuff like school and homework, our orders started coming out. When my cappuccino appeared, it had a little chocolate powder heart on the top. I raised my eyebrows. Katsuki had gone 'to the bathroom' earlier, so no doubt that this was his doing. When Mido's order came out, the waiter placed it down with a flourish. The hot chocolate had more toppings than usual, I was sure.

"A millionaire's shortbread for the one who looks a million bucks." He winked.

"I'd appreciate it if you stopped flirting with my boyfriend." Todo butt in, even more stony faced than usual. The waiter looked a little surprised.

"Oh. My apologies." He managed before rushing off. We all looked at Todoroki expectantly.

"What? Did I say something wrong? I'm very sorry."

"You called Midoriya your boyfriend, dude." Sero reminded him.

"Oh. I suppose I did." He turned to Mido, who was bright red. I swear, if you looked closely you'd see steam coming off of him. "Is that okay? For me to call you that?" Mido nodded, unable to speak. We all cheered, quietly so that we didn't get told off by Tenya.

"What is it with this place and romance?" Kiri laughed. I could see Mina's aloof expression. She still hadn't plucked up the courage to tell him, and he hadn't given any clues as to his feelings for her. We spent a while longer just chatting about this and that as we drank and ate.

"Hey, Hinami." Kiri eventually asked. "I can't stop thinking about your parents. We know that Present Mic is your dad. But who's your other dad? You said that both of your parents are pros."

"You guys really haven't figured out who Mic is married to yet?" I responded through a mouthful of chocolate fudge cake. Everyone answered no, except for Katsuki.

"I know who it is. I saw a picture of you four. I just never brought it up." He shrugged.

"Four?" Mina raised her eyebrows.

"He's including Ramen. It was the one by my bedroom, wasn't it?"

"Yeah. It's a pretty big picture."

"Wait wait wait!" Sero put down his coffee heavily. "You've been to Hinami's house? And been in her bedroom?"

"She's been in mine too." I punched Katsuki's arm.

"Don't get ideas! He came over when my Mic was still in hospital to cheer me up. I gave him a house tour. We weren't in my bedroom long."

"And what about in Bakugo's room? You're being awfully defensive..." Ochaco made teasing kissy sounds.

"Oh, we did plenty in my room."

"Katsuki!"

"What?"

"W-we did not!" I covered my face. He put an arm around me.

"She's right. We didn't, I'm just teasing." I peered at him through my fingers. The change in him was unbelievable.

"Meanie." I mumbled. That didn't stop me from leaning into his chest. There were a few 'aww's.

"That still doesn't tell us who your other dad is." Kiri mused.

"Think about it. Dad really doesn't do much to hide who his husband is."

Nobody had figured it out by the time we finished up and started to make our ways back to our respective homes.

"Hey, Kat." I asked when it was just us two. "Want to come over to mine for a bit? There's still a few episodes of Mr Magnificent we didn't watch."

"Will your parents be there?" He asked, almost sounding nervous.

"Why? It's not like it'll be your first time meeting them. They're your teachers."

"Exactly. I've met them as my teachers but I've never met them as parents. Especially the parents of the girl I like." The last part of the sentence made my heart skip a beat.

"Aw. You have nothing to worry about. I'm pretty sure Mic already knows anyway. He accused us of going on a date before."

"Okay... "

A few minutes of walking later, I let myself into my house and called out.

"Hi! I'm back!"

"Hinami, sweetie, what did I tell you? Text me when you're- Hi Bakugo- when you're c- Bakugo?" Dad walked into the hallway to greet me, only to be taken aback by Katsuki's presence.

"Ah, sorry. I did forget to text you, didn't I?"

"You also didn't warn me about a guest." He gestured at Katsuki.

"I can go if-" He turned around only to be grabbed by the arm. Dad examined him for a moment before beaming at him.

"Nonsense. Come in!"

"Thanks, Present Mic."

"Please! I'm not a hero right now! I'm only here as a parent. Yamada will do."

"Ok Mr Yamada." Dad opened his mouth to ask him to drop the 'mr', but just shook his head affectionately. We kicked off our shoes and walked into the living room.

"Hey Dadzawa." I leant over the top of the sofa and kissed his head before petting Ramen. "Heya kitty."

"Hello, Mr Aizawa. And Ramen." Katsuki said quietly.

"Bakugo?" He turned around and looked at us. "Why is my student in my house?"

"I'm your student. And I live here." I responded sarcastically.

"But he doesn't."

"Shou, be nice, my love." Dad walked in, handing father a coffee. "Sit down and tell us about your day."

"I went to pick up Katsuki and met his parents. His mother is very... eccentric." Me and Kat shared a look. "She's fun. Then we went to the arcade and met up with everyone. It was Mido, Todo, Kami, Kiri, Mina, Sero, Ochaco, and Tenya. And us two, obviously. We played a bunch of arcades and stuff then went to the cafe."

"Tell them what happened in between that." Katsuki snickered.

"Uh..."

"What happened?" Father instantly demanded.

"Oh, nothing, really-"

"She decked some stupid extra for picking on Deku and-"

"And what?" Katsuki suddenly looked away from Father's harsh gaze, realising that he did not want to repeat what the person had said about them.

"They were heckling Mido and when I stood in and told them to back off, they said that they knew who I was and said that I'd have to be related to Mido to care about him. So I lied that I was and one of them said that he couldn't believe they let two faggots adopt." I recounted the incident in the most carefree manner I could, despite feeling hot with anger all over again.

"So you punched him?" Dad checked.

"In the nose. It's probably nice and broken." Father nodded approvingly.

"Nice." Katsuki looked quite shocked at this response.

"Nice?"

"Kid, I'm a hero, not a cop. Plus, me and Hizashi have been together for over thirteen years now. We're used to it."

"Of course."

"Shou, stop trying to be scary in front of Bakugo. He might not want to date someone with a father as terrifying as you." Dad laughed. I tensed up.

"The scariest parents in the world couldn't get rid of me." Katsuki responded firmly.

"Good answer."

"So you admit you're dating?" My parents said in unison. You can guess who said what.

"Uh, yeah. Only just though, so don't start making wedding ideas yet, Dad." I looked at Dad very deliberately. He held his hands up in mock surrender. Katsuki laughed nervously.

"Well, we're going to watch TV." I got up and gestured for Katsuki to do the same.

"In your room?"

"Yes, Father. In my room." I drawled.

"W-" Dad nudged him in the ribs. "Keep your door open a bit." He grunted.

"This won't affect my grades, will it?"

So, we sat in my room watching Mr Magnificent, contently leaning against each other for the rest of the afternoon, Ramen lounging peacefully beside us.

If only things could stay this peaceful forever.

But it's never quiet at UA for long.
