Katerina, you don't have to do this." Ana said, holding up her hands in surrender.
I tightened my grip on the stake.
"Oh, but I do, sister." I said.
She had tears running down her face by now.
"After everything we've been through? Please, Katerina. You have to understand." she pleaded. I looked away.
"Well, I don't understand. Why did you see the need to kill me?"
She shook her head furiously.
"My emotions, they were all over the place, I didn't understand. I swear to god! I never knew you would find out."
"Well, I did." I lowered the stake slightly though, and she took that as a move to come closer.
Now she was very close to me, and I could see the hurt in her eyes as she tried to get the words out.
"I'm so, so sorry, Katerina. You're my sister, and I swear I would never hurt you. I love you, I love you so so much."
The stake was now at my side, and as she finished talking, it dropped onto the ground.
"I'm sorry I was such a bitch, all those years." I said.
Tears were starting run down my face now.
"And I'm sorry you're a vampire, I'm sorry I didn't try and stop Klaus."
"I'm sorry I took Klaus away from you." she said, looking down.
I laughed.
"Don't be sorry. He's a backstabbing bastard anyway."
She laughed too, and for a minute we were silent. And then I felt her arms wrap around me.
